I’m trying Strange/RR right now, any tech you can throw me to get me started? Right now it’s pretty much zoning and teleport with pendulum assist.
I just throw out a projectile, log and port. If you get them in a corner and you hit them with log, you can do 3 reps of IP loops.
There’s a guy named Valdi in Brazil that uses the same team, just in a different order. Strider 2nd, ammy 3rd. I’ve messed around with this team and I think it works better in this order. Besides, Ammy is a better anchor than Strider is by a long shot.

Check it out. Search for him on youtube.
This new dude (never seen him before personally) named Wolf Street vs Infrit then vs Paradigm
2:57:00 and 3:16:00
Wolfstreet plays a pretty smart team, although not the best. He gets away with murder because people don’t know the match up. lol. Valdi on the other hand…
Hey guys, is Rocket really that bad as anchor?
I wanted to run a Shulk (torpedo or clothesline)/thor(spark)/RR(pendulum) team
Any thoughts on this?
he’s one of those anchors where if the person knows how to handle them, he really doesn’t have many options unless he already had momentum. Think Doom but not nearly as damaging and without footdive/a beam.
Yeah I may use Strider lol I kinda stepped back from UMvC3 for a little bit but I may try him again.
I’m using RR (log/ may switch to spitfire)/spencer(slant)/hawkeye(horizontal)
Spencer is super high damage, and a TAC into spencer if you are careful never to use log trap in your combo will kill any character for 3 bars save like thor. Also, calling spencer randomly in combo’s into literally anything is godlike, especially onto a boulder trap, which you actually have time to jump l m h s land and do a low before the boulder lands in many cases. hawkeye is the obvious beam asisst complement to both characters, and amazing anchor anyway.
Though i haven’t gotten the chance to try this setup in tournies yet, it seems very strong, every character has good assists, complements each other splendidly, and can stand on their own.
Besides, most teams, to be tournament viable, should have at least 2 high-top tier characters to function adequately, or have a gimmick, and rocket really doesn’t on point. So, I would maintain that people avoid trying gimmicky setups with rocket, (unless you’re just abusing the assist), and keep him legit. Not to say don’t ever use sub optimal characters by any means, its just very hard to get away with, as rocket is squishy, and weird characters with one assist tend to also be squishy.
Also, has anyone tried using MODOK with the log trap assist? If the use of the wall bounce doesn’t hurt is damage too much, that could get pretty crazy.
So I’m trying to learn the Morrigan(Harmonizer)/Doom(Missiles) duo and was looking for a “get off me” assist, and RR seemed like a decent choice.
Do you guys think it’s worth trying? And if so, what order would you recommend? Cause I can’t seem to figure that part out.
If you’re intent is to lame people out with morigan, it could work, as missiles get top of the screen / super jumpers, and RR can take care of any low jump, while the straight approach is never going to work.
Sounds feasible, to say the least, maybe test some projectile loops, if you call coon at the right time, you might be able to get a few more free projectile hits from full screen, not sure though.
Actually, RR on point does have a gimmick. Especially with Spencer. One hit and raccoon can put them into a vortex of unblockables, that unless they do some invincible super out, it’s pretty unavoidable. I may pick up spencer again for this, but spencer hates me.
Idk about this team. Very low health team that does very low damage. Very gimmiky but I wouldn’t play this team in a tournament
please define gimmicky
So I’m attempting Felicia(low)/RR(pendulum)/Ammy(cold star). Teams got stupid pressure and mix ups, my concern is ‘can i set these up reliably’. Someone expressed concern over getting zoned out since there’s no true horizontal assist. does RR have the movement needed to get in and set up coldstar?
RR’s movement is top tier worthy imo. He can be extremely fast if you know what you’re doing and has the equivalent to a tridash that is safer than an actual tridash. Now, when it comes to actually catching up to zoners, RR is good at maneuvering around shit because of his size, but more importantly how flexible he can be in his movement. Ducking under some things and even being able to attack while under them (Sent force, Hawkeye shots), digging and becoming semi-invuln, or just moving around with Storm-like shenanigans, which we all know is good. All which he can transfer into quickly and fluently, like Joe, Morrigan, Spidey. RR has all he needs to be able to get in quickly with an assist.
f.H skates + assist is great.
Yeah, movement is not an issue for Rocket Raccoon, it’s pretty much his strongest trait. With some better priority on his normals and an actual anti air, RR would actually be pretty damn good on the right team with the (surprisingly obvious) hard tag combos that were apparently just discovered.
Been thinking of teams for Rocket since that discovery, not really sure who would be best as a second for Raccoon, I tried Vergil but his damage is crippled with Rocket’s low meter build and ground bounce use. I can imagine someone like Spencer using that spot well, but I have never played him at all.
You’ll need somebody who can really tinker around with max hitstun decay to leverage the raw tag fully. high minimum damage scaling would also certainly help (or Spencer’s good old 80k unscaled grapples) and a fast tag in would help too. I’ve found some ways to get meterless level ups for Frank for example, but given that level 1 Frank has problems with decay + his raw tag animation is so long, he’s very limited on it. The haggar proof of concept was honestly a really good choice for the pairing.
Spencer, Dante (I gueeessss, but glhf damage), Hulk, Mags maybe? Could go on further but needs testing.
Yeah but then you have Haggar on your team… lol
A team with Rocket and Haggar is going to have some serious problems haha
