We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

does gen have an answer for standing roundhouse or is it pretty safe to use on him?

Far roundhouse is great pressure against Gen, but I’m sure a good gen player would tell me otherwise. I can’t think of anything off the top of me head that he could do, other than psychic waterfall kick, c.mk to combo or just oga to escape the setup altogether.

ok ill think about it for the match up thread ty

So im not a good Gen huh? JK Anyways, ya F.Roundhouse is great against Gen. Ive tried basically everything Gen has and I cant find something that works consistently. The only times I have beat it were with psychic sweeps and maybe S.MK every once in a while . Now if Im missing something I would love to know.

Nice matches.
When you do the combo: LP, LP, MP, tatsu, HP-SRK.
What are your inputs for the LP, LP, MP part. Just these moves in the right times, or do plink the MP part. I find this a very hard link to do, even offline.
So are your inputs: LP, LP, MP~LP or something like that?

Gen can neutral jump and combo you if he’s at the right distance.

As can Balrog. Still do it, just be smart. I typically play Akuma best when I limit the use of that move. It’s good, but it can get you in trouble sometimes if you don’t space it properly, and a lot of times it puts you in a worse position than you’d want to be.

As can alot of characters. I think you missed the point.

I don’t think anybody is saying not to use it, however the question was posed as to what potential options Gen had. Neutral jump is an answer to that question.

No plinking for normal combos, that’s silly to me. Just practice combos until they’re natural. IMO plinking a hit-confirm is too much to think about, and it will mess up what I choose to do afterward if I do plink.

I think Gen is quickly becoming my most hated character to fight. Because he isn’t a commonly played character and there are only two variety of players who play him, the really good type or the really terrible type.

I do hate gen a bunch, but I’d say I still hate other match-ups (ryu, balrog, rufus, blanka) a lot more. Maybe that’s just because I know a gen player and play him all the time, I’m not sure.

naw i know a rufus and i still hate him the most.

Yeah, I know this fucking fucker named Alex Barry, I hate him more than I hate aids.

True, I think that is the biggest problem is a lack of quality sessions against a good Gen player. I don’t mind Blanka or Balrog so much if there isn’t lag involved because I know a couple of good players for those characters.

Ryu is always a pain just because he is too similar to Akuma to have a distinct advantage. Rufus is annoying for the fact every freaking thing he does combos into the Ultra.

You guys probably saw these already, but I’ll post them, just in case.

Fun stuff.

I hadn’t seen the safejump portion, that’s fantastic fun.

fwd.throw > dash > hk.flip kick > HP.Srk

I love how the moral to the double dash mk dive kick story is don’t use it on ryu…fuck ryu.

The double dash dive kick can stuff Ryu’s jab shoryuken but everything else it trades?

Stuffs LP and MP, HP trades (so it’s pretty much useless against him). I’d recommend double dash x-up tatsu, but if your timing is not so great or if they’re really good with auto-correct shoryukens, I would stay away from that as well. lol.
