I played vanilla arcade last week while waiting at a Super tourney. Comparatively speaking the loop in Super is all but gone - don’t even bother with the fickle setups that ‘might’ allow a couple of iterations (Cody). Its a waste of an otherwise good setup (use the first fs.hk to c.lp xx lk tatsu, sweep) that could net you guaranteed damage.
In vanilla the loop setups effortlessly come out slicker than snot which Super’s don’t hold a candle to. It was such bullshit, but man I miss it. I didn’t miss Sagat trading a tiger uppercut into f.hk > full Ultra on me though. I was having fun looping his ass until that occurred and jolted me out of the fun I was having and quickly reminded me how so many aspects of vanilla were a bit cheesy in some ways
So, I got to play against Korea’s Air today on Peaceful Jay’s stream.

Hhaha, just things to note:
0:42, I failed the throw set up. I added a pause after the two dashes which is pretty fail and causing me to miss the sweep juggle. I fixed this later at 1:04 though.
1:49, fail demon flip.
2:21, LOL horrible read by me. Thought he was gonna fireball. :looney:
2:38, my mind imploded. I was gonna just cr. hp to anti-air, but I saw him tatsu, so I was thinking to do cr. mk xx lk Tatsu instead. But in the end, I just couldn’t decide on what to do and just did nothing! Pretty fail.
3:04, really should’ve juggled with an srk. That was a pretty confirmable juggle. :\
Nice play Richard
Very solid play!! nice footies
i got to see you in action at Ai Ran-bat and just watching you play taught me a few things like ur Double dash Jump in Hk when they think ur gonna go for a Cross up Tatsu lol, and Tiger knee Air Fb after a Demon flip throw or Demon Palm
great stuff
are u going to SCR btw?
Hhaha, my footsies are really subpar; I just throw out cr. hk a lot. I didn’t get to see you play at AI. But yeah, ask me if you need any help or tips.
And yeah, I’m going to SCR. You? And are you going to the 5v5 NorCal vs SoCal qualifiers? It’s at Alex’s Arcade on the 29th. Registration is $20 though.
Good match, except the errors you already noted i might only add that your throw setups were all pretty obvious…and since he started to tech them after round 1, you could’ve tried baiting a throw tech with ex tatsu or srk every now and then…just to make him scared…also akuma’s kara throw is quite good, c.lk c.lk c.lk kara throw catches a lot of people by surprise and if they’re mashing crouch tech they’re gonna get grabbed.
Yeah, I was gonna point out my grabs also. Yeah, they were kind of obvious. I should’ve thrown a bit later because I was also trying to catch him with cr. mp but he techs really late. So, I didn’t really adjust that well.
Well, I liked the very last throw setup at 3:22. I couldn’t throw him or counter hit him, so just walk back, walk forward and (fail kara) throw.
^ I have heard that lives in Canada, yeah, but is Japanese or Korean. One thing I noticed with good players: how come you guys never get SRK’ed when you dive kick? I swear, I can’t land a dive kick to for shit. I still don’t know the spacing to make it cross-up either. Ugh.
definitely this. A good player knows that if he whiffs a srk or it gets blocked he’s gonna take 300-400 damage and he cares about his stamina.
The average piece of shit online player doesn’t give a fuck about playing well (and losing half life for that matter) and just hopes to kill you (especially akuma due to his low health) with some unsafe reversals
its all good im some no name lol!, i placed 17th at that Ran-Bat not too bad for my 2nd tournament and my first ever fighting game.
Thanks for the help ill be sure to ask you some thing if i cant find it on SRK. I plan on going to SCR i hope to place good there. as for this Qualifier i didn’t know about this till right meow, ill try to make it out but im sure ill get beat out by top players like you,Tatsu,Hugo,Dj Divine and all those other top guys. but ill try to make it out and do my best!
(it be nice to see an akuma player since Ed Ma Left)
I had a few matches against KillaSasa yesterday (XBL: KillaBMike). The guy is INSANE with Cammy. I was litterally fucked at every turn. There was a few rounds I was able to generate some offense, but for the most part I got thumped pretty hard. The guy’s Cammy is beastly, BEASTLY!!
Yet I never felt like I was being bullshitted when playing him. That said, I gotta learn to stay loose when being pressured. Too many times I get tempted to mash buttons when my opponent is using a character who’s normals are better than mine…
The worst part is how they don’t ever learn. Ever. I’ll be playing a guy 1 on 1 and be running a streak on him, say 8 wins. At some point in the fight I’ll think to take a chance, because there is no possible way he will do something stupid since I’ve punished his stupid shit for 8 wins now. To my now lack of surprise they still do something dumb.
KillaSasa is a straight up killa. (lol) If anybody wants some Cammy experience give him a go, he’s a good guy and an awesome player.
Ha! I did consider elaborating on their inability to correct stupid descisions when they go wrong, myself. A great video example would be this jump-in Ryu:

Likewise, I will be fooling around with Gief in player matches and some will eat every single cross-up splash on every knockdown after countless games by trying to mash out a DP or jump away or whatever it is they try; somehow the thought of blocking it and getting SPD’d from one empty jump is worse than 20 splash combos.
Staying on that note: anyone else feel how getting punished for an obvious teleport seems to cause a heavier mental guard-break than getting punished for a blocked SRK?
^ I feel it. I’m more hesitant to teleport these days, but there were quite a few instances back in the day where I see people backing up in anticipation but muscle memory says teleport.
