WB to start on Justice League movie

I never understand why, as a reporter for the Daily Planet, there is no discussion about the Batman. That’s all you would have to do, just have some people discuss their opinions on Batman or Bruce Wayne.

Different scenario. This is a super hero team, based on well established heroes.

I think the movie can be good without followups but it depends on who is directing and producing. It’s undeniable that the Avengers had much better planning and the right names behind it.

Meh, during the last Supes movie, when Perry had all the reporters in his office and was giving orders, all they needed was him to say “Lana, stop writing that article about Waynecorp (or Bruce Wayne, or Gotham, or what have you), I want nothing but news about Superman”. QED

I expected more than that…

Ok maybe a classic Kurosawa movie is a bad example. X-men is a super hero team, based on well established heroes. Hellboy has teammates. You don’t have to have the origins and backstories for every character. They can save that for the spinoffs. As long as the characters are presented economically and with enough personality everyone will be cool with the Flash being a cool fast dude if he has good moments to shine. The Justice League cartoons never showed Jon Stewart’s or the Flash’s origin once. This will all be dependent on execution and good writing not whether or not there were lead in movies.

how much you wanna bet that Martian Manhunter won’t even be in this

He may not. I’ll be dissapointed if he doesn’t make the cut.

Hopefully they throw money at this to make it atleast half as good as The Avengers. If this has a budget over 250 million I will see it no questions asked.

Green Lantern cost $200 million. What they need is a Joss Whedon.

Get Nolan on this and it’ll be fine. Can’t wait for Man of Steel in 2013.

If they are really going to jump into JLU right after the Superman Reboot, then they are just asking for failure.

They need to reboot Batman (no way in hell Bale/Nolan are going to do another bat movie, unless hell freezes over) Get a wonder woman movie off the ground, and actually stop delaying anything Flash related.

They have the characters, but they need quality writers/actors/production behind them to make them work. Green Lantern bombed hard because they just tried to throw shit against the wall and make it work. (Probably killing GL as a single hero movie franchise for a LONG time.)

I hope they don’t use anyone who helped in making Green Lantern.

nolan is willing to do another bats in a few years and bale said if nolans down he’s down

2 and a half years may seem like a while from now, but at the same time, they need a leadup. There will be no hype leading up the movie, then BAM, JLA ads all over the place with random actors/actresses who haven’t built their characters going into that movie.

I think it’s gonna be bad. =/

The Hulk in The Avengers has almost nothing to do with The Incredible Hulk except a throwaway line about Harlem. Everything you need to know about Banner is presented in The Avengers. He turns into the Hulk and hates it. His confession on the Helicarrier about his attempted suicide, the “I’m always angry” line and Ruffalo’s performance were enough. If you missed The Incredible Hulk it wouldn’t matter even a little bit. Joss Whedon did the best cinematic Hulk and added something to the character with the “I’m always angry” line that is perfect. I know it’s a tall order but it’s possible that they do this for some of the characters in Justice League. It will depend so much on the execution and writing that they have to get someone like Joss Whedon and not a Martin Campbell.

Here’s the thing, The Incredible Hulk established the character in that Universe. The Banner presented in Avengers is just an evolution of the character. Banner at this point has accepted and controlled the Hulk. If you remember at the very end of the Hulk movie, Banner looked as though he controlled it through his little breathing exercise.

Even at it’s best a JLA movie would only be “Half as good” as The Avengers. Aside from Batman and Green Lantern the base JLA members are as entertaining as watching a bucket of paint, that’s right, not even drying on the wall, still in the bucket just sitting there.
That aside let’s be honest and look at DC’s record when it comes to live action movies. Unless it’s Batman it tends to be garbage and even then some of those are garbage.

He doesn’t accept the Hulk until after his talks with Stark and he finally turns voluntarily to fight the Chitauri. He’s not controlling anything with meditation and breathing exercises. If you watch The Avengers again after hearing the always angry line you notice in his first scene with Black Widow that he is constantly hand wringing and fidgeting. He is pissed off during that scene. Joss Whedon ignored The Incredible Hulk and came up with his own Hulk and his own way of Banner controlling the transformation. As for the audience knowing that he can control the Hulk, Banner mentions it and the other characters ask him about it. All of this is contained within The Avengers and watching The Incredible Hulk is not necessary.

lol stop trying to rationalize that plot hole. lol. banner controlling the hulk for no reason was a giant hole…that we all gladly accepted cuz it was a badass moment.

Hey i will rationalize that plot hole till i die!!! LOL…At any rate

@Gigas Breaker: You gotta realize a JLA movie is already setting itself up as a failure. Taking Batman and Superman out of the picture since we know these characters front to back. You gotta establish Wonder Woman, Green Lantern(depending on whether they stick with Reynolds), Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman. The ONLY way they could do this is if they base the JLA movie off the Justice League cartoon pilot but even then its gonna end up coming across like Avengers “lite” with the whole alien invasion angle again.

I agree 100% that it will be extremely difficult which is why I’m glad that I’m not making the movie. I’m just not ready to write it off yet.
