"Way of the Cooking Dragon" - Marshall Law Combo Thread

Ya that’s what it feels like but I’ve seen it canceled.

The combo at 2:50 seems to cancel Dragon knuckle into switch cancel.

that wasnt a dragon knuckle. that was a fist rush. off bounce it just launches and thats it

Oh it is a Fist rush! It just looked tricky off the cr.Hp. Thanks!

ya, for the longest time I thought it was a dragon knuckle to when i saw the fist rush off a juggled opponent in many matches. they look very similar

I don’t know, I would have to disagree. His J.RH is great, good range, comes out fast, probably one of his best anti airs, or air to air. Jump Short is interesting, can hit really ambiguously. I think Law’s ground game is much better anyway, don’t have to be doing much jumping =D

Awesome thread

Hey guys, what’s your go to combos for when you launch in Law?

Nothing too fancy on my end just… knuckle rush, c.HP dragon charge~knuckle~flight … or knuckle rush, c.HP somersault kick, backflipper

I usually use, depending on the previous damage reduce, either b.MP - MP (ground bounce) cr.HP DragonCharge Knuckle ~ Flight, or just cr.HP DragonCharge Knuckle ~ Flight

After I launch opponent in air with launcher I used to do b.MP - MP (ground bounce) cr.HP DragonCharge Knuckle ~ Flight,
but with some sessions in training found out that
cr.HP. back flipper, cr. Hp, DC, Knuckle, flight did more damage and was just as easy to do

P.S. When you have forced opponent in corner I start with cr. mp instead because cr. Hp is to slow to connect

Oddly enough, you can cancel Dragon Knuckle in 2v2 play. That is to say, your partner can cancel it. My friend does it all the time when I don’t fucking want him to.

Ahem.

Been working on making Law my #2 character because I can do this combo off of one meter which does crazy damage. (1 meter besides the ultra finish)

Law and Rufus?!?! But Rufus is enemy #1 around here!!

half kidding. Also, you can probably just do Rufus’s full EX charge. Maybe itll be more damage?

Thought id put this in here because while playing online I’ve seen most laws do the dragon rush combo followed by a somersault which leaves him relatively safe and sets up a good frame trap. On the other hand there is an opportunity to cancel the dragon’s tail > dragon charge > cloud gates, if blocked it is very unsafe, but if you hit… well you get the idea

I also use Rufus/Law and I just wanted to let you know that your combo is fine when you want to go for the kill, but it’s just not worth the meter at any other point in the match.

After MP FFR, tag cancel you can…

Charged Super

Charged EX GT, s.rh, s.rh, s.fp, fp or EX snake strike

Charged EX GT, s.rh, s.rh, cr.rh

Those are some of your better mid screen options.

Anyone using a SCDC set up for law? I was just playing around in training room trying to utilize this and it seems as though it can be a very useful tool in setting up a relatively safe 50/50. Most characters use the SCDC with a forward dash to maintain pressure. Law has a very unique tool set allowing him to SCDC (back dash) and have the ability to go into a relatively safe high low mixup.

The jumpin has to be deep

Jp.:hk: > cl.:hk: > cl.:mp: > cr.:mp: > SCDC (backdash) > :f::mp: or :df::lk: …

:f::mp: is -3 on block, and can be linked into other cancelable normals (EX SCDC gives ground bounce)

:df::lk: is special cancelable making it safer or you can go into his stance overhead making it very unsafe, but you might get lucky

been training with law for a bit and recorded this only to find out there’s an easier one in the OP

i’ve looked through both these pages so i wont be asking any dumb questions other than “how can i get optimum damage using law/heihachi??”. i’ll figure that out eventually unless someone could offer some advice and for that i’d be grateful!

Instead of wasting your EX on a fury fist, use it for a dragon stance > punch to crumple. You can actually get two crumples in a combo by doing this:

Boost chain (you could do st. hk, cr. mp > cr.hp xx EX dragon stance into punch, cr. hp xx (non-EX) dragon stance into punch, f. mp (ground bounce), cr. hp xx wheel kick H, cr. hp xx dragon stance into punch, kick follow-up.

This also opens up an interesting reset. You can do cr. mp > cr. hp xx EX dragon stance punch, cr. hp xx dragon stance punch, cr. mk xx dragon stance into overhead. I tested a quick combo with this reset and, if successful, it can take nearly 75% health.

So I’ve been testing out different situations with this combo and I have to say it’s really incredible. The only downside is that it does take some execution skill so you might want to stick with EX FFR combos if they are going to kill because the damage difference is minuscule.

EDIT: I went ahead and got the numbers for other situations after you successfully land the reset. The second number represents the damage output with a 10% Power Gem.

j.hk, s.hk, cr.mp > cr.hp xx EX DC punch, cr.hp xx DC punch, cr.mk xx DC overhead (reset), cr.hp xx HK Somersault, cr.hp xx HK Shaolin Kicks (732-804)

j.hk, s.hk, cr.mp > cr.hp xx EX DC punch, cr.hp xx DC punch, cr.mk xx DC overhead (reset), cr.hp xx HK Somersault, cr.hp xx DC Punch, Flight (804-827)

j.hk, s.hk, cr.mp > cr.hp xx EX DC punch, cr.hp xx DC punch, cr.mk xx DC overhead (reset), cr.hp xx HK Somersault, cr.hp xx Super (890-978)

You can also use the reset after the first DC punch and use all the same follow ups listed above.

I found this corner set up for tag canceling into either an normal or EX charge super. The only ones that I can’t get this set up to work for are Vega, Alisa, Able, Zangief, Steve and Bob. I don’t play Law myself, I was just messing around with him and found it.

the set up is j.HK - s.HP xx MP FFR - MP FFR - tag cancel.
