That was my point.
Either way, your logic is failure, but I’m not Azrael, and I wont get into it any more than what I just said.

As much as I love talking about the existence of third strike, a lot of fucking people in this thread have proven that they are not capable of discussing it without letting their own personal view of the game get in the way.
This shit really needs to get closed down as well as every third strike thread that is not posted in the THIRD STRIKE SECTION FOR FUCK SAKES.
So serious around here…
You didn’t even comment on my cute little play on words…
What other kind of discussion is there besides that driven by personal views?
because it wasn’t cute. Like you, it was full of cover-ups. The inability to argue covered up by “cute plays on words”.
Fun times, good jokes?
Meh, I wouldn’t want this kind of shit in the 3rd Strike section. If it were, these would be all the threads we’d get. “OMG, Duz 3s suxxorz???” Fuck that.
People should just play what they like and quit worrying so much about everyone else. If you don’t like 3s, don’t play it and don’t spend so much time worrying about the people who do and vice versa.
goes back to playing 3s
The only reason it would be better to put it in the 3S section is because at least the only people who would be posting are those who even play 3S. Not in FGD where some random fuck who has barely even heard of the game could just walk in and start talking shit for no reason.
But yeah, people do spend too much time worrying about what other people are playing.
I hate 3S, but Yun is pretty tight.
I can totally relate with this…I’m taking Japanese right now and most of it is purely contextual. Once they know a certain thing like who or what the subject is…that part gets completely omitted from the conversation.
One that doesn’t involve “omg dis gam is too hard fuk parries so stupid wtf only 2 characters to play dis is bullshit”.
The topic is about Capcom and the release of third strike, not why everyone on SRK hates it, not the daigo parry, nothing else.
I agree.
One other factor that might have hurt- SF3 NG was around during the time of arcade releases, and a lot of people saw how bad the first version was, while it was competing with more polished games.
Within about 3 months locally, in an area that was not a hotbed of SF in the late-90’s, multiple people were doing Parry into Ibuki infinite. That turned people off the game fast, and back to A3, where the infinites weren’t known. Also multi-directional option select was known. I do think NG was the big reason the series flopped, and 3S combined with lower standards from new-school players who didn’t know about/care about ST was the reason it gained some late-term respectability.
I know that brokeass NG gave me a permanent distaste for the series, as I saw it as inferior to the other games at the arcade, though it looked pretty. I think I ended up playing a lot of KOF97,SFA3, VS1, Rival Schools, and SamSho 4 instead, while weeping bitter tears of shame that better games weren’t avaliable- which turned me to emulation for about 8 years, with one small break in 2003 when I was in Cali.
I’m not doubting the popularity of SF2 nor how much units it sold. I’m questioning how many SNES consoles it sold compared to other games like Super Mario World or Donkey Kong Country, but that’s neither here nor there.
Between the time 3S was released on Dreamcast and then released on the Playstation 2, from 1999 to 2004, there were more fighting gmes than that being developed by Capcom. Capcom vs SNK, Capcom vs SNK 2, Heavy Metal, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Project Justice, Power Stone 2, and Alpha 3. These are all games that were in released for the arcades and/or ported to a console system. Development time is really undetermined, as we don’t know when they began with any of these games. I’m not even sure how you came to the conclusion that MvC2 was a rushed port considering it took them two years to port it from the DC to the PS2. We do know that it took time to initially develop them, to make their subsequent ports, and money/time to advertise. In the end, it’s really not as black and white as everyone is making it out to be.
What I mean is adding new characters/modes so consumers would be more inclined to buy a game that is essentially the same. They’ve done this with a number of their fighters including SF2. 2nd Impact to 3S included five new characters and a whole new mode. It’d take them ages to make a new character for SF3 when compared to other 2D fighters at the time and even years later, costing them more money as well. Especially when 3D fighting games like Tekken are just raping you in sales. Japanese version was released stand alone because their arcade scene is actually healthy so the title got to show face. Even then though, the PS2 version came with two separate soundtracks and a limited edition with other goodies. Also, porting it for Japan probably made that portion of production of the bundle much easier. The Anniversary Collection game came with it’s own set of extras too
Well Capcom vs. SNK was a game based on a contract with SNK. They probably signed it BEFORE 3s as CvS was released a year later. It was a contract for 3 games. If CvS2 hadn’t been made, Capcom would have gotten sued for breaching a legally binding contract.
I believe that answers your question. It also explains why there was NOTHING after CvS2 except for CFJ. Same applies with Marvel VS. series. So, taking all of this into account and the fact that 3s bombed… why did capcom no longer make 2D fighters? Because it failed and who the hell wants to throw money away and not see it again for 5 years? If you have a better answer I am waiting.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! it’s both! Haven’t you read ANY of this thread? If something BOMBS that cost that much money, of course they aren’t going to release a substantial SF game since the last time they did it FAILED.
Problem solved. moving on.
What in the name of fuck does a professional wrestler have to do with a completely useless videogame? Seriously, I was following your post and you’re opinions until I see this dementia inspired rant about professional wrestling and half-assed philosophy.
entry-level “intellectual” spotted
There’s a 3S section on this board?!
:looney:
Yeah, I found that amusing too since Yun is the reason a lot of people give for hating 3S in the first place.
When people try to legitimize their intellect via methods like that, i will agree… Probably a pre-law student, studying psychology as an undergrad, and has a deviant art account… thus, lawyer, scientist, and artist…
a lawyer by himself wouldn’t have enough time to spend on SRK as you do, much less all three… as an artist, I have plenty of time to spend on SRK… :-/
Yes, with more questions. When was this supposed contract signed? Was it signed before SF3:NG? Because if not, this really doesn’t prove anything. And, what are the details concerning the amount of money/effort they were required to invest in each game?
Good luck finding the exact details of that contract anywhere, btw.
But, they DID release substantial SF related games after SF3.
And even those games couldn’t prevent the 7 year FG hiatus that ensued.
What, was that SF3’s fault, too?
Sounds like you missed a few earlier posts…
I wasn’t “legitimizing my intellect”. I was just explaining why exercises like this interest me, when they might not interest others as much. I just like thinking about stuff that other people take for granted…such as the supposed failure of a certain loved and hated video game.
Your signature is amazing. You even got the “…” right. Bravo.
Does that count as incest, or just really creative masturbation?
