Does that Famitsu scan have any profile information? I want to know what their excuse will be for why she didn’t fight in SF2.
None that I can tell, although the scan’s cropped in various places. Hers should be put up on CJ’s console page in time anyway.
Well, if they say she wasn’t invited, then Saiki would end up being right about the invitations thing despite elusive sources. Otherwise, she just happened to not be one of the lucky TV viewers feeling the effects of the MC’s influence at the right time.
In any case, they like pitting her against Zangief in the trailers, another possible nod at Sakura Ganbaru!.
Sakura’s profile’s up, and unfortunately I can’t immediately tell:
Sakura- Blossoming Declaration
Pursuing Ryu a female high school student thrusted into the world of the street fight. Enjoying anything with a cheerful personality, she doesn’t escape from the chance to fight a strong person.
She has been thrusted into the SF world, and she is pursuing Ryu during SF4 as we speak, but whether she’s still in HS: Shiozawa-san jokingly calls her the eternal female high-schooler in today’s blog entry, but immediately after that, she adds a side note to check today’s weekly Famitsu for details as to her inclusion reasons. Now, if the issue she’s referring to is the one we saw Sakura’s first scans in, or if it’s another issue, I dunno.
EDIT: It’s today’s issue. Hope someone picks it up and reports.
EDIT squared: Today’s Famitsu online article says her SF4 appearance gives a wink to how she’s treated in a supplementary manga, (Sakura Ganbaru! I’m assuming) wearing her uniform as “proper fighting attire.” So that would point to her not being in HS anymore. Dunno if the printed issue contributes anything else.
ok now we know that Studio 4C is making SF4 anime movie , on top of doing the anime intros, cutscenes and endings for the game.

From a scan of the latest cabinet marquee decal, Sakura’s got the following:
hadouken, shoouken, shunpuu kyaku with armor break ability, sakura otoshi, super’s the haru ichiban, ultra’s the haru ramman, same input as her super but with two kicks.

Uhm, that link is from the Comic Con in July.
re: Sakura moves
Huh. I hope she has the dive kick (Ouka Kyaku).
We’ll see when her complete moves list is up somewhere.
Adding to that, you can mistake her for Chun-Li in the TGS trailer (with the Gouki watercolor at the end) when she’s traveling with Dan. I did the first few times until I noticed Chun-Li was wearing a white headband.

Memorable line in the new SF2T #1 issue:
“Long time no see, Mr. B.”
Chamba’s style’s gonna take some extra swallowing, for me at least.
I know what you mean, his style can be rather obnoxious(if you will) at times.
I’ve been thinking about SF4’s card system for the arcade version and how you can buy extra stuff from earning Zenny in the game. I remember this is the same type of money found in really old Capcom games like Forgottan Worlds. Is this supposed to be some kind of trademark for them? Like how all the Final Fantasy games have many of the same elements like chocobos and airships, even though they’re not connected in terms of canon?
Today’s CJ SF4 blog update, besides introducing Seth and Gouken as console playable, brought out some rough sketches from Ikeno:
http://www.capcom-fc.com/sf4/2008/10/post_65.html
Seth originally had his tanden engine higher towards his chest, which would’ve made it a “kyou engine” had it not been changed.
Gouken initially survived Gouki’s onslaught (was at least considered if not finalized) with some major scars in what Shiozawa-san calls the “long military service hero” look, and the next sketch shows a cleaner figure with one large ball around his neck compared to Gouki’s many beads, which of course comes closer to his final design.
I continue to smell imposter Gouken for SF4.

The second Gouken design is awesome. I much prefer it to his current look. I hope he has that as his alternate look, if not his OG look.
Don’t worry. SFIV Gouken is not an “imposter”. But he may not be the real thing either. We shall see.
Kataklysmic: re: Zenny
It’s likely just a play on the word “zeni”, which is JPN for money.

First time posting in this amazing thread (thanx to vasili10 for emailing me the link)
I highly doubt that the gouken in sf4 is an imposter, i am sure gouken survived his fight against gouki or faked his death to observe how his students will do without him. You know like he vowed to watch but never to interfere.
But the fact that he observed the satsui no hado consuing ryu more and more he showed up to seal the killer intent in ryu once and for all.
anybody else feels it is weird that gouki does not feel surprised to see gouken in front of him during ryu’s ending?
I like Santa Clause Gouken more than Stone Age Gouken but the originals (young and old) were much better. Sheng Long sucks.

Ikeno has a weakness at drawing shoulders.
Since I could start reading Gouki’s ending.
The Ryu Anime trailer shows Gouken in his orignal costume with his hair at neck length like it originally is. in order of Gouken to have his orignal look he would need his hair shorten and GI.
edit: 7 years would be enough for Gouken to grow his hair long.
And definitely 14 years would be as well.
Some TGS clips including the new movie trailer:

I’m almost positive that I hear Ono-san saying Sakura’s 21 in SF4, plus before that (and this I’m sure of) he does remind everyone that she debuted in the saga at age 15, just as Zero 2’s maintained all these years.
From the trailer, BLECE is pronounced as “bless”.
S.I.N. if I’m hearing Ono-san right, is pronounced as “sign”.
