Yeah originally the N64 games, Circle of the Moon and Castlevania Legends were removed from the timeline/continuity by Igarashi. Very recently he put the N64 and Circle of the Moon games back in the timeline, stating that they do in fact occur / are canon but they are side stories and not part of the main saga, but they do happen. The Sonia Belmont / Castlevania Legends game is still out of continuity only because he doesn’t want Castlevania to have a female lead. The N64 games and Circle of the Moon were taken out originally because they were unpopular, with Legends it was just because Igarashi didn’t want it in there and that’s still the case, and yeah it’s still just because of the female lead thing. But storyline-wise none of them truly contradict each other. She can still be the first Belmont to fight Dracula as the game states because you don’t fight Dracula in Lamont of Innocence, within the game’s story they haven’t done anything to contradict Legends just yet.
Lol most people just naturally assumed every Castlevania game occured until he said anything… I’m sure most people still feel that way… In the bonus chart that came with the pre-order of the last DS game, there was a timeline chart and each game had a storyline description, with the exception of the 4 games I mentioned before. Lol I guess he was still hating on all of those games at the time and not just Legends…
Castlevania 1 only happens once even though there are different versions of the same story, the arcade version, the console version, Super Castlevania, the remake with Ayami Kojima’s redesign, etc. Konami goes with Kojima’s design of Simon Belmont with red hair and black leather as his official look now.
Oh yeah did The Dungeon finally stop saying that the Kid Dracula games were part of the series? First they claimed it was Dracula when he was younger but Lament contradicted that, he wasn’t born a vampire. After that Dungeon started to claim that it was Alucard when he was younger. I believe one of the monsters Alucard fights in Symphony is the same as one of the monsters in that franchise and there’s an ingame nod to it. But LOL why would you want to connect Castlevania to the goofy Kid Dracula series and not just chalk that up to a shout out / nod, that would mean the Mystical Ninja games are in the same world ack… :looney:
As an aside, according to Castlevania’s canon Trevor, Grant Dynasty, Alucard and Sypha Belnades were all responsible for destroying Dracula in part 3. There is no way you can accomplish this within the game. It’s not even possible to encounter all 3 characters in the same game, at best you can meet Grant and Sypha in one game but you can’t meet both of them and see Alucard, the multiple paths don’t allow it. On top of that, Trevor can only carry one spirit at a time, not 3. I suppose this is a big one where gameplay gets in the way of the story/canon.
According to Nintendo every Zelda game occurs at one point or another with the exception of the horrible CD Philips games. They have yet to tell us about the official timeline and have promised that they will one day, but it still hasn’t happened. They claim that they know what the timeline is though but they just aren’t telling us… There’s a debate by fans as to how it works but you can say for sure most likely I think… that Zelda II is the final game, 3 and everything else happen before it. Link finally gets with Zelda and their ancestors keep not hooking up over and over again so the Link of 1 & 2 can be the one who gets lucky…
