Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

War of the Grail looks like it was designed to appeal to the Dynasty Warriors/Kessen fans. Count me among the uninterested.

Why doesn’t Ingrid fit? Well, most of what’s known about her character’s background suggests a closer tie the DS universe then the SF one. Pyron appears in her ending, Jedah and Demitri both sense something is off with her. Having her instead of Kyo doesn’t make much sense the RS creator expressly doesn’t want him there.

I’d like to see Alex in Double Upper myself seeing as how he’s the nex main character of the series and we’re supposed to care about him.

Some interesting SF items on Ebay right now for diligent searchers: the Fanbook and Udon’s Gouken bust.

I have nothing against Ingrid’s… type fitting in SFA3. Well, she does seem like she’d be a bit… whimsical. Rose’s magic is more ‘allure mysterious’ while Ingrid’s seems a lot more… happy peppy, but that’s really not that big an issue for me. It’s just odd because she’s a nonStreet Fighter from a something totally disassociated with Street Fighter from a storyline perspective (as Capcom Fighting All-Star’s storyline was what-if and also… CFA doesn’t exist obviously) and now being there. Although I imagine that if she gets a storyline, it would be editted to have a place as well (as the goddess storyline seems like it’d suit Darkstalkers a lot more). …hopefully. …I’m not sure how much faith I can place in that, though.

Ingrid’s storyline in CFJ is something like “Everything about her is wrapped in mystery, she is competing so she can make fun of her opponents.” All the Goddess stuff you figure out by playing the game, reading her quotes (even the 8 American ones give you bits and pieces), checking the names of her movelists and her ending. I’m sure they could keep the above storyline fine and say “She is a mysterious person, who is she, why is she here…” bla bla bla.

The more I think about SFZ3 with clones, possible body swapping and what not, maybe Ingrid’s not that too far out there. Hmmm.

But I suppose the big question is would Ingrid’s appearance in SFZ3 be 100% Easter Egg like teenage Yun or should it have some credibility like say, Eagle and Maki so should Ingrid be included in the SF Plot Guide. Hmmm. Well it’s really wait and see…

Ingrid looks like E.T. in that picture…

 She went from Goddess to Alien, lol! I wonder if Edayan drew that portrait and if not who.

I don’t know either, maybe Bengus?

Oh that’s what they meant wih “Double Upper”. Weird logo. I think Ingrid looks better than most of the original drawings of that series espeially Blanka and Ken. Is Bengus even with Capcom nowadays?

What do you think about these original bios of SFII? It says Hurricane Punch instead of kick but I mean the conctent of the bios like Ken going to America in order to find more Opponents.

The last game he worked on I THIIIINK was the first Resident Evil Online game. Before that, I at least know he did a few drawings for CVS2. Of what I hear the guy doesn’t do anything now, sits back and collects royalties. I’m not exactly sure though. Most artists don’t really leave Capcom, Capcom is pretty free with them and lets them do other stuff. On Akiman’s website he still refers to himself as a Capcom Artist, even though he’s not doing anything for them now. He’s working on something called “Gundam True Oddesey” and character designs for that, (nicknamed GTO but it’s not Great Teacher Onizuka…) I have no idea if this is an Anime, OVA, or game. I’ve asked around the net many times what the Hell Bengus AKA CRMK is doing, I either hear he’s not doing nothing or no one knows squat. I wonder if he changed his name for a third time adding to more confusion.

Anyway, Akiman’s Website in case it’s never been put up on this board. If you click on Side 1 and one of the super deformed sprites you’ll see some of the best fan art on the net. There’s 10 pages now and it is constantly being updated, during Akiman’s Birthday recently there was about 40 + pages or so.

Those bios sound like some crap Capcom of America did. I’m not sure as to how Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku comes to “Hurricane Punch”.

Kyaku translats as ‘kick’ I think so yeah that’s a goof. The only time I remember hearing ‘Hurricane Punch’ was during the first two Fatal Fury animes with Terry.

I wonder why those never made into any games.

With the heavy burden of my unfinished fan-fiction still weighing upon me after all these years, Ive solemnly decided to finish the SF story I started all those moons ago. Unfortunately, Ive hit a bit of a snag, and since Tas wont return my calls Ive decided to put my questions to you guys instead since, by and large, you seem to know what youre talking about.

I dont mind writing around canon on occasion, or outright changing it for the sake of the narrative, but the problem Im having is sort of essential to the plot and to the development of the protagonist, and I think I need to recheck my facts, namely with regards to what little I know about Ansatsuken and the Satsu no Hadou.

I always understood it to be that Goutetsu taught Gouken and Akuma the killing intents of Ansatsuken which he, presumably, developed himself. What this says about Goutetsu as an individual is fairly ambiguous, but what we do know is that Gouken frowned upon them and decided against incorporating those techniques into his own fighting style, whereas Akuma deigned them to essential to his warriors philosophy, before using those techniques to kill his Master and, eventually, his brother.

So, what Im wondering is what the Satsu no Hadou actually is? Translating, I think, directly into Killing Intent, is it therefore just a power-augmenting feral rage that overcomes a fighter of sufficient ability when he loses himself completely to the pursuit of victory i.e. the willingness to go so far as to kill his foe? Or is it simply the true nature of Ansatsuken, to use the moves with the full force they were originally designed with, and that the concentration required overcomes the user? Where do the two (true Ansatsuken and Satsu no Hadou) cross?

Any help would be appreciated.

TAS is ignoring you too eh? Know that feeling I do.

About your questions, if you want to literally translate “Satsui no Hadou”, you’d read it as “murderous wave motion” or “murderous surge.” SnH is the true nature embedded within Goutetsu’s ansatsuken. It’s not so much about rage as it is about aggression, although rage and other feelings such as pain, sorrow, and suffering can be preliminary stages toward its mastery. Goutetsu showed this to both of them once Gouki challenged his master after the brothers’ training was completed. Goutetsu was disciplined enough to turn SnH on and off like a switch, a future reference to Ryu from Marvel v. Capcom.

Where do true ansatsuken and SnH cross? Technically everywhere, since ansatsuken is literally the assassin’s fist or art, but Gouki brought the intersection to a whole new level when he mastered the SGS, the final sin of SnH.

It should be noted that Gen, also used ansatsuken but for some reason he and those he taught or influenced, never displayed any signs of SnH.

Oy, time finally for the mess, y’all ready for this?

Blanka from Gamest SF2D

As for that name Jimmy

“Ok? Once arriving at your uncle’s house in Brazil your most proper greetings! Understood?”
“Right, I get it! Don’t worry, mom!”

That was a young kid taking on what was expected to become a grand adventurous combined with entertaining journey. However with numerous people’s dreams taken in kicked off the solid earth as expected of an airplane, before one’s eyes the destination of a deep jungle crash, the one saved ironically was one person the youngest male child. After that this king of beasts named Blanka with a life full of hardship, at this instant is the reason that the curtain was cut down.

In the midst of Mother Nature science’s power still cannot explain the mysterious numerous existences. At this moment captured with wide significance, 10 unfilled years of childhood, 1 person also having grown native-born in the middle of a strictly natural environment, this mystery included here is probably 1 to count. With this world filled with danger, generally even without what mood is taken to action from 1 error, it is said to be not at all unusual for inviting one’s own death.

Flesh Beyond Human Limits

Naturally also with Blanka’s jungle living, from the beginning was no reason to have been favorably conditioned. Rather than compare to a man of virtue, it’s no doubt that suffering would be how many-fold. But, Blanka’s mercy called in as a heavenly miracle, or else instinctive accomplishing acts is uncertain yet, due to the state of his own flesh altering to the point of a beast, a wild death from being left behind since then quickly became a conformity within Mother Nature. First of all, in order to get today’s native-born provisions 2 long arms since then became filled out like logs, the tips of the hands reached to claws became to the extent of weapons cutting apart firm ground. The torso changed into a hardness approximately lacking a tiger’s fangs, the feet from the impressions don’t seem to possess the conjecture of producing speed. And so that returned wild flesh was not to remain unaffected by all the more peculiar courses of evolution. Among the first to catch in a list, is of course likely his physical constitution of electric discharges. This is for his time being in the jungle, until the final fatal fear was savored from the electric eels the physical constitution was experienced. Fundamentally he but at one time accepted humiliation from opponents, surely all the power can be used in retaliation. Even so, at the roadside toe kicks would without delay encounter stones. A necessary matter although these electric eels also with the range of vision is contended for flying into a fight. The first thing also having not known how to handle these opponents gradually his enemies were disappearing. And so approximately when he was gaining victories with ease, unawaringly he also freely became able to electrically discharge himself, at the same time it was that his enemies from the jungle ceased to be there.

Desiring the Fight…

Everyday no enemies…that is alone in the jungle thrown out from days of youth, lying ahead always a belief in his heart painting it was a dream. That is ten-odd years passed now, finally it became reality. However Blanka frankly felt something joyless. Everyday he took up literally death struggles, too late for a peaceful living to be able to grant as it’s become boring.
In several days, he considered the consequences, he would journey out to search for more “strong ones.” The jungle is spacious. And so at this vast jungle’s “end”, certainly he considered to himself that no doubt would there be formidable enemies. Resolved Blanka having food dangling from both hands and, proceeding to the airport it was that he stepped out.
First, in order to retaliate from the time of childhood he was slapped into an airplane…

Zangief to Leo

“No! This won’t do! Such scowling will make the audience afraid!”

Where there’s “No!”, it actually said “Muu!” Zangief may have meant to say “boo!” but I interpreted it as short for “no way!” or “nothing doin’!” since “mu” by itself means “nothing.”

Other stuff:

  • talking SF quotes. I now have access to Jap. quotes from all canon Street Fighter games except for around half the fighters from 2I. In Revival all quotes are taken from SSF2X as far as I’ve seen, except for Gouki’s which come from SFZ2. Capcom USA creations: Ryu telling Necro that he’s fought someone from India, most of Sean’s references to Dan except when he fights himself, Chun Li mentioning her bracelets. (Not that Ryu has most likely fought Dhalsim since being a wanderer and the main character of 2 of the 3 sagas he’s probably fought nearly everyone selectable; not that Sean may or may not know Dan but Capcom USA abused his quotes that way, and not that Chun Li being a female does likely treasure something like her bracelets quite a lot.)

Speaking of Chun Li, in an issue of Gamest World Capcom jokingly gave her bracelets’ weight to be 20 kg each (unfortunately some books took it seriously along with the joke that she’s around 18 in the Zero series), while HnN gives her bracelets to be 7-10 kg each. Her oldest preliminary design can be see in the SFZ2 Secret File, straight from Akiman’s mouth.

Talking background music: Birdie’s SFZ stage music is quite reminiscent of his original England music in SF1. The resemblence can be heard more in SFZ1 than 2.

Talking Ojou-san, Gouki before SnH, and TAS: A few people on the net have claimed there is a book that has Gouki’s pre-SnH sketch in it along with other early sketches. TAS has unknowingly given me some clues on where to look, but hopefully sano will have some answers in the salvaged portions of the old Warrior’s Fate thread. It was brought up as early as Saiki’s old Gamefaqs thread, even Golden Dragon was eagerly asking Saiki, but apparently people forgot about it and moved to other questions.

TAS has posted on snk-capcom.com that Ojou-san’s design led to the creation of Sakura by the efforts of Edayan. He’s replied to me that this info came from an interview, but not sure where it was read. What I can be sure of though is from the interviews in Gal’s Island #4, planner Murata Haruo says very little about the origins of the Sakura, the only thing possibly pointing Sakura to Ojou-san is Akiman said an older thought was to design Sakura with spats, but that was thrown out because they wanted Sakura to look more modern, hence the schoolgirl fighter look: sailor uniform, bloomer shorts, and tennis shoes.
TAS has also said that he’s seen Saiki’s telling of Gouken’s final battle from his daughter watching to Ken getting basted by Gouki afterwards in a comic, and he further said this comic was drawn in a similar style as the SFZ anime. Again I’ve been given hints, but I’ll share with everyone here some links to pics and I’d like some honest opinions a little later. You’ve helped me before, so I’m sure you’ll steer me right again.

Next time, Guile. Thanks as always for reading minna-san!

Whenever I mentioned ansatsuken above in conjunction to SnH, I referred specifically to Goutetsu’s ansatsuken. Gen’s styles are an ansatsuken because he is an assassin; the term was used for him long before Gouki was conceived.

Any style of martial arts can become an ansatsuken, generic term of course, it’s all a matter if it’s utilized to kill or not, if its origins intended it to, as exceptions do exist.

Buh?

Vasili10, awesome thanks for translating (Especially Zangief pic + Blanka), but I’m afraid that I don’t get the text of the M.Bison bar scene. Do you think M.Bison is saying it to the other guy? What does he mean with “it’s”? His look or what? Thanks!

Bison is saying it to the other guy. “It’s” just means the situation, like “It’s a beautiful day.” The situation in this case is picking up women.
