Oh, plenty of good has come of this thread. No one is posting "first on the front page. That’s all it was ever about. If people needed to come into this thread and vent or try to be witty or “prove” a point, then no problem. The fact is, posting “first” on the front page has gone down significantly in just 2 days (hasn’t happened at all). Sure, it’s still going to eventually happen, but it’s going to happen less… which requires less news moderation than before.

Actually, it’s stopped people from posting “first” on the news pages. So, to say “ALL” it has done is create even more trouble is a gross understatement.

It was never about JUST GD. It was an in general thing, not “in General”. However, this is just another example of Carpet Lint trying to be witty and about pseudo-intelligent. It’s especially obvious when he posts:

Sure, I understand you want to stick up for someone, you want to stick it to the man, get a little notoriety for yourself by speaking out for the downtrodden… but unfortunately, his method of posting a “legitimate complaint” (which it was not) is the wrong way to go about it. If you refuse or are unable to see what he was trying to do, then that’s entirely up to you.
Again, posting “first” on the front page has died down considerably simply by posting in GD. Solidly Moderated or not, this forum is one of the most read on the entire site, which is why it was posted here in the first place. Guess what? It worked.
It’s sad to see people try their hardest to avoid the point in general and instead try to start problems. It’s also sad to see people following fads/trends of other sites that have gone downhill.

Instead of “I don’t think it’s really a problem on the news posts” or “yeah, I was getting sick of that too - good thing we don’t do that in GD” or “I don’t know why you posted it in GD since it’s moderated very well, but if it helps to stop the front page spam, then I’m all for it” or just not posting at all if you had nothing constructive to say… some people would rather cause a problem where there wasn’t one.
This was clearly obvious by the people trying to post “first” and “second” and “third” in a post about not posting “first”. So funny, and so original! They should be congratulated!
