You just answered your own question to a degree if the only reason you started using the assist is because others you saw how others were successful with its (ab?)use.
And with a little creativity, willpower and mindgames, something many players seem to not tap into(why bother when you can just go god-tier and have all your advantages handed to you from the get-go on a silver platter? Then all you have to work on is your technique), Tron Projectile assist is quite deceptively useful.
Edit: not bashing on your or anything, but theres just a fine line between being cheap & overpowered, to being balanced & respected.
Personally i respect a god-tier whore a whole lot more if they’ve proven they can also kick as much ass with lower tier characters as well. Otherwise its like they have the aura of cowardice around them, hiding behind that security blanket of the high tiers. Afraid to branch off and try something new, even if it is unsafe.
On the other side of this coin though, i also don’t have much of a soft-spot for the low tier guys either. From all my experience playing, even those who bitch the most about God-tier use, many still insist on having that 1 character or assist behind them to tip the odds in their favor. Even more so when they’ll argue that, that one obviously Top-tier char like Blackheart or Doom is still “ok” to use.
Bunch of damned hypocrites on both sides! Thats why i adopted my team in the earlier post for the last few years. Composed of low-tier characters i personally like with that 1 godtier, so that way its not overpowered and neither side can bitch.
I think he means he just wants teams without Gods: after all, if there is a god tier, you MUST play as them. however,IM Domm BH Bonne WAR MACHINE they are tops so teams of them are OK, he jst doesn’t want Senti Storm Mag and gayble.

Those guys bitch about God-tier use, how its cheap and what not. Yet they still want to be able to pile on the cheese in their favor with shit like Cyclops/Tron/Doom. Two tops with a top assist?
Thats like the next WORST thing to godtier usage! Can’t have your cake it and eat it too. If one is going to be cheesy, might as well stop half-assing it and grab the big 4 already.
Thats why i like my compromise of the two low/mids, and one top/god allowed. In my opinion thats the closest to “balanced” the game can be made.
nah, I’m not hating on Gods- 2 of the 3 teams I use have em (Rouge/Doom/Senti and Wolverine/Storm/Bonne), I was just curious of how different the metagame would be if they actually didn’t use god tiers. I mean a lot of people say it would be all Doom, IM, and Spiral, but would it really? I mean, Mag rushdowns from Hell and Cable AHVBs did have an impact on the game, and while some teams like IM/Doom might be more common, they wouldn’t become the standard, would they? plus it would give underrated characters like Cammy, Rouge, Dhalsim and Megaman more focus. but that’s just my opinion, anyway.
…aparently something I said got lost in translation. I was talking about what it would be like if they had no God tiers in regular play, not tops in low tiers. sort of like a what if- like for example, what if Mag storm sent and Cable were softbanned. sorry if I said it wrong.
Nah, everybody understood you. That’s been done before and the results were as mentioned.
Every time you slice off a set of god tiers, other people instantly bubble up into the new new god tier, since their playstyle becomes excruciatingly hard for other characters to beat. If you don’t grok this, go round up some excellent friends and try it for a while, you’ll see.
The trouble with a game that’s been out about ten years is that a lot of the theory fighting and theory suggestions have already been tried, so while it might be a new concept to you: everybody else has been there done that.
Thats simply not enough, Its like not the big 4 are the only characters that can be overpowered at times. A good blackheart, Doom, Cyclops, and Iron Man can be almost as bad, just in different ways.
Only taking out the four gods is a half-assed effort to balance out gameplay in my opinion.
Some assists should also be taken out too, like Tron projectile, commando, and Psylock AA. If for nothing else, than to just shake things up and force players to try something else for once. Its not like they are the only assists worth a damn in the game. Hell, even your plain projectile types like a sonic boom or webball can be made effective with a little creativity and mindgames.

Thats what I think is so awesome about this game. The variations are through the roof(math I dont feel like doing) What? 54 characters in the game? Pick three at a time? Everyone has three variations? Good god the possibilities are beyond high. Yet its the same characters doing the same things. Boring.
Like you said I got people on my friends list that can nearly perfect me on god tier teams, then will admit and tell me they cant play with any other characters in the game. It breaks down to most people are on that mindset of “win by any means necessary.” Thats not my steeze. I like variation, I like the crazy/random shit, im gonna stick with that. (not sayin I dont play some shit like my SIM and Cyk)
Low tiers casual sounds fine, but there are going to be some players that want to practice their top tiers so that they can use them. Once a tourney hits it’s too late. How are you going to do that rom infinite in a tournament properly if you haven’t used Magneto in casuals? It’s simple, you won’t. And if they see you using low tiers, they’ll simply counterpick with the most effective top or god tier strategy even in casuals, and you die for free. That’s the problem I always face, and in the end I get forced into not even bothering to use them.
Oh, and Dhalsim would need to be banned if your banning Blackheart as Dhalsim would become the new Storm of this game.
I think I’ll screw around with my Megaman, Hulk, Doom / Capcom /Jin on DC now…
Low tier teams can be as boring and uncreative as any top tier team. You know how many bad Guile/jin/iceman teams I face each night? Thinking jump in fierce to sonic hurricane is gonna get it done… and rqing when it doesn’t? Meanwhile top tiers can be played with a level of art and execution that is creative and entertaining. It’s not about the characters picked… so much as how they are played. If your mostly referring to the mass of jump back+mando+grenade cable’s that you’ll find whoring their fp button across the net… beat their ass.
Logic states that if they are only capable of the basic overplayed tacs of the gods… and not innovation or high quality on the fly play then you should beat their ass. You’ll already know what they want to do… no excuse to not just beat them til they quit with their heads down in shame. They might even go into training mode and learn a combo… meanwhile you can find someone less boring to play with…
If your just getting beat up… then you need to get better or find people on your level to play with. Most vets at this game have gotten damn near as sick with low tier as they have with gods… so it won’t matter a ton who is picked.

Akuma Y for being a trap, SonSonAA for being so damn fast, Dan AA for being disturbingly good…I see your point in that area. now that I remember, that LT group in the XBL forum banned tron’s Projectile, so yeah, I gotcha. I mean I even said that the only reason Mag is that good is becuase of good assists-he’s a glass cannon without them.
