yeah, i forgot it was father’s day until earlier today so I’ll be a no show (not that i’ve ever shown up) with my schedule it looks like I won’t be able to make it until after july 4th. I played grifter’s akuma online and he destroyed me everytime. I’ve got lots of work to do.
Ya akuma can be annoying to fight. especially in the hands of grifter there. Xbox is still out of commission. I miss SF4!!!
What I know about fighting Akuma.
I don’t know which character are you currently using, but I think that the key of winning against Akuma is to understand that he is gonna hit you a lot, but when he gets hit, he is going to be wishing he never hit you(Patience is a virtue that will get you very far). I think you have to master how to jump fireballs(the red ones that hit multiple times), you need to use your options/tools to get close to him and make him pay when you do. The best way to do this is by learning how to focus FireB like crazy. You should try to close the distance by dashing focus(if you have a charge up character then focus the FireB then dash partition into ultra.) Always be in the look out for his EX Demonio Flib. They love to do it from full screen after some Fireballs.
Defense|Do the math before you jump:
When he is doing the fireballs Zonning learn how to time it so that you don’t get hit by his DP. Sometime jump and don’t do anything and if you did it from the right distance you should be able to land safely, because the DragonP would miss you completely(FOCUSDash foward or backward the none ex or red fibeballs please).
When good Akuma playaZ got a Ultra they gona start to set you up with fake jumps, land on the ground, Ultra. always watch that Ultra meter man. :nono:Don’t jump in attack, unless u have enough life to take the damage of the Raging Demon and you know you gonna do some serious damage. If not be smart and don’t jump at all. Learn how to use your character’s arsenal on the ground (example: stand up FierceP with Chun). use those tools to hurt him without having to jump much.
Offense|Miix ups:
When you knock him down be ready to always mix things up. I think u should test the waters by doing cross up attacks, grab. Cross up attack, low punch, grab. Cross up, down Fiece Kick to knock him down in case he was trying to grab (repeat patterns with a mix flava). After that you should start planning your crazy combos and just keep changing your patterns, because the last thing you want to do is to become predictable against Gary’s Akuma or any solid Sf4 player.

I’m practicing the focus dash now…I need to stop jumping into his FA mostly

Nemo’s Chun li is something else. I think every Chun li player should watch this guy play and learn something.

What are the problems you are having with Akuma’s focus? Does this happen when you’re jumping in? While you rushing him or he is rushing you?
When you jump FPx2 should stop any focus attempt. Also if you time it right, go ahead and grab him(it’s risky, but good against people that abuse focus when you’re jumping ins).
When your opponent is focusing on the ground too much: get use to just walking Grabing them out of their focus . Use multiple low lk, the stand up m.p(hits twice from close), down f.p. also hit twice. They are good focus breaker.
These are my offense focus strats with Chun li( I am working on it):
Also as part of you rush down get in the habbits of focusing here and there. I am trying to do low l.p.x 2 focus or l.k.x2, low lpx1 and then focus. Always be ready to dash back or forward, depending on whether you stun your opponent or not. if you hit with the focus blocking or not then move foward and mix it up with a grab or your strings into fast kicks…

I usually use jump in FP if I’m brave enough to jump in against Akuma (if he doesn’t have meter). My problem was the kept baiting me with fireballs until I got close enough to hazanshu over the next one he was going to throw. then he would either toss one or the focus would make the charging noise…either way I hazanshu on reaction, right into his focus. I need to not use it so much against guys who FA a lot. I think the FA dash forward will help as another option to close the distance. Hazanshu and jump-ins don’t always cut it

I think you need to make Akuma play your game and punish him with all you got, cuz it’s hard to get a second change against crazy combo Akumas.
To be more specific I think you should try to counter his fireball game with empty diagonal jumps and neutral jumps(get that jumping FK ready). Your goal is to annoyed him enough so that he can try to jump on you. That is when you start countering with ur normals/specials/supaz/ultraz, so if you are charging you can try to fireball and then walk a bit down fierceK (Mix it up:walk grab, walk hazashu etc. Try to use different kick for Hazashu and even ex version of it) . Build those meter and get ready for that Ultra. make sure you punish Akuma on reaction when he does a fireball close enough to get counter by a ultra or if he try to poke you.
Sorry, but that is all I could think of so far. I am sure you can learn more from watching those top Chun li player do this things to Akuma. Remember you need to be unpredictable when you do this things, so don’t make the same mistake twice if you can, but truth me know I first hand how hard it’s to fall into patterns so do your best to change it around (you gona be losing to same mistakes if you don’t), even if it’s just timing your attack differently. and don’t forget that the minute you let him run the show you will start to lose the fight , so just be patient, cuz your turn to deal damage will come it’s a matter of time and knowing how to punish your opponent mistakes and there is always a opening, you just have to learn how to take advantage of it and when you hit him and if you can, make sure you do it with the best combo you got (make him pay $$$ in cash).
Execution is key in making sure you can get your A game together. I am practicing as much as I can to get mine better, but I need a lot more practice to get where I want to be.

I believe that a very skill Honda can bring the nightmares to the Red Devil, but we can’t count Chun li out.
I think Chun can do it, but you really need to learn the match up very well. I think that Nemo proved it in that video I posted. I must admit it was a really close match.

Yeah! we just gonna make an example which we hope some of the Buffalo players can fallow the next time we make our tourney. I said that, because when we hosted our tourney at Arena not too long ago, we didn’t see a single soul from Buffalo at Arena51(…posted the date & info for the TE all over your forums…), but we are going to be present at Buffalo for the love of competition, and to support the SF4 community in the area.

Yeah!! I really didn’t know Buffalo came to Rochester that many times, so I’ll take back some of what I said, but anyways I really hope to see you guys at one of our upcoming TE at Arena…We will keep you guys informed with a lot of anticipation about dates etc. I really don’t want to be in a tourney where we end up playing mostly against each other like last time. We need to bring those guys from Canada and as many places as we can to participate.
