That’s kinda funny considering that’s my Ultra of choice with Ryu, haha. I already did in my sleep apparently, because they not only reset my original but they gave me a brand new code too. WB: 0 Jeff: 1.
Yeah I’m definitely going tomorrow. I’ll bring my PS3 and stick, so someone bring one as well.
Jess - thanks Jess for the help.
Jeff - if you have problems finding us tonight in the big room, we’re NOT on the side where Rockband is, I will be wearing a blue “Bills” hoody (Representing even though I know they suck haha.) and I am Asian.
Oscar - Yeah man, I’d like another setup going! Let’s shoot for four setups!
Taken from Blog
I will be doing signups as soon as I get there and setup my laptop. I have already seated the top four so you guys don?t have to fight each other right off the bat and there are some people I will be seating myself (randomly of course) because of class times. Don?t worry guys, I got your back. Worse case is that you don?t make it and your name turns into a ?by? so don?t worry. I hope I can get signups going right at 8:00PM and have casuals going for a bit. I?ll most likely start earlier than 9:00PM. 8:45PM is the earliest I will probably start, maybe 8:30PM depending on the faces that show up.
Setups: I?m hoping for four this time, I hear people are bringing their own setup, that would be nice actually. Four is probably the max I want, we?ve got a nice square setup going already. If not, we will be having the three setups we had last time, two 360?s and one PS3. BRING YOUR OWN STICKS/D-PADS. Sticks are a necessity if we are playing on two PS3?s and 360?s. D-pad is up to you, if you play on a fight pad bring it. If it?s a regular pad, you can choose to bring your own or borrow one of the ones that are supplied.

Sorry I checked out early guys but I was running on 36 hours of no sleep by the time I left. I’m going to try to sleep now. Not saying that’s why I played…poorly, because that’s simply my not trying to get competitive until literally the day I registered here. If I came off as a bit cold or ignored you, it wasn’t on purpose. Sleep deprivation’ll do that. Those of you I did talk to (in particular, Jess, Suresh, and Vinh), it was great meeting and fighting a few of you. Cole, you seemed pretty cool too but most of what we talked about was the game (naturally!) and I was barely able to process what I was doing, let alone divert the conversation into an actual introduction or conversation.
I will make an effort to show up each week you guys hold this stuff. Anybody who needs a ride feel free to let me know. Thanks for the opportunity to get wrecked. Maybe some of you will tell me WHY I got trashed so badly next time haha.
Jeff - nah man, I feel bad for not talking to you more. I’ve been trying to talk and bring in new guys to the community. The people with tips told me to! so Don’t feel bad, I feel bad. If you come next week we can chat it up. I’m usually prone to think about one thing when it comes to tournaments, running or playing. It was very nice of you to bring Suresh! haven’t seen him in a while and I’m sure he was itching for fights. I hope you guys can make it next week!
Everyone else - I apologize for the grand finals thing. I didn’t think people would love PS3 more than 360 and I’m the only one to blame for the time thing. I promise I’ll get shit done early next time I do this! We’ll have to postpone the grandfinals match another day (hoping next week?) Also, I have the scores and placements done. I’ll be posting them in the morning because I’m tired as fuck. Thanks for coming to those of you who could make it. Again, I’m sorry for the time constraints
Hey, I obviously didn’t meet you but I noticed a new face or two. Are you the Gouken player who was playing on pad? Sorry I didn’t get to meet you, next time!
yo vinh plz post the bracket.
I played Gouken on pad, but I wouldn’t call myself a Gouken player. Or Ryu. Or Guy, for that matter. Need some serious work on fundamentals before I branch out. Next time I’ll be sure to introduce myself to people properly. You can see I’m obviously succeeding at the whole sleep thing, right?
Fucking hate sleep. It just doesn’t agree with me.
Next time I vow to get at least 1 point. JUST ONE POINT.
I’ll be back for next week, I gotta focus on SF4 more.
Although I’d be down for more 3S, or other oldies but goodies.
Interesting that ps3 was chosen over 360 even though there is a 2 frame difference.
Although I do prefer ps3 better lol. Pad Rawks!
Come to a buffalo session sometime and check out jug play. Pad gouken and guy player extraordinaire and constantly reps both well at tourneys. Good ryu, too. Might give you some ideas.
Good to see everybody again! I’ll be around more after the new year. Family Christmas duties are taking over.
Don’t sweat it. You’re dealing with a bigger turnout than ever and our time is severely limited. If we could get people to agree on and get to weekend ranbats, there wouldn’t be a pinch. Thanks for running this!
The PS3 did feel better, and I wouldn’t think it was the built-in lag of the PS3 port. Might be due to using HDMI v. component on 360. I can grab a spare VGA cable for 360 but need to see what I need for audio on those monitors.
Hey guys. Finally put up the results of the ranbat! excluding Gary and Benard’s points, everyone else’s points is tallied up.

Sweet! This is kinda like getting points for putting my name on the SAT, only I get a pity point for showing up, right? Right?!
In all seriousness, I have every intention of showing up weekly (or however often) to get games in. I’m about as good as I can get without outside help at this point. I understand frame data and hit confirms and such from the other fighters I’ve played (one or two at a high level), but I haven’t yet worked out applying that stuff in SSFIV. Help would be awesome. I can also have people at my place if anyone wants to do casuals outside of your normal meet-ups. I could use the extra offline play.
nice, where are the previous ranbat’s points? Aren’t you gonna add em up?
Also, after looking at the bracket, was there really a need for 13 bys? I’m not much of a mathematician or a bracket maker but couldn’t we have just made 12 out of those 13 play eachother and just have 1 person get a by?
I had a good time Wednesday. Nice meeting new people, and seeing faces I haven’t seen in ages. I’d repeat whenever possible. After only having online play for so long it was great to get offline matches.
Got another case of “Got a test/exam the next day, can’t go.” for Wed. EGS, unfortunately.
But I’m willing to bring my PS3/game/stick, leave it there, study in the library, and just come back to it in the end. It’s all good.
wow, that’s kind of you. it’s just a regular wednesday, you could probably just keep your stuff home, i’m sure we could manage fine with 2 setups.
They had best get the plows and shit working overtime. Roads look like shit close to downtown. If they’re not significantly better by tomorrow night I’m not going to chance it. I don’t trust the asshole drivers in this city to not hit me. Already have two friends with fucked up cars thanks to idiots slamming on brakes, spinning out, and just generally being morons.
What about the Ranbat finals? I would assume you guys would want to finish it on PS3.
Unless I magically get all my work done before my classes tomorrow I won’t be making it to EGS. Unfortunately a professor assigned an ungodly amount of reading due by Friday at noon and I’ve got shit to do all Thursday. Plus 2 exams in the next 2 days.
:< So sorry I won’t be able to supply my stick.
