Rant time! This stupid laggy Ibuki who did like 3 resets on me and KO’d me in like 10 seconds. Everyone says Ibuki is bad, but damn, it’s demoralizing to get crossed up and overheaded and reset back to back to back. I eventually beat this dude, but it was frustrating. I ended up just mashing out Snake Blade with Ogre whenever Ibuki did her command dash and got a counter hit every time. Forget Ibuki man, she’s not even that good, but she has some dirty stuff if you have the balls to just go in.

you want a real challenge? then play nothing but blanka/hugo in ranked for a week.
post your before and after bp and win/loss ratio. also, you cannot pick and choose your opponents and can only play people of same rank.
or if you really have balls you can main this team all the way at final round or some other major.

While I still think that it’s great that you find so much tech with Hugo, I do have one big problem:
If you’re investing enough time in other characters, don’t you find similar technique with them too?
I just don’t think that because of some option selects a character can get from horrible to great. Every character has option selects, some are useful, some are not. Can they really change a whole character and how he’s played?
Look, I don’t want to critizise people figuring out what supposed low-tier characters can do. But I also don’t understand how some people can act like Hugo is suddenly gonna be a good character.
Doesn’t he still lack the fundamentals that are just required in this game?
These days, where everyone can watch videos of top players online and can get information through this forum in a minute, I just can’t imagine that a character that is considered horrible for some valid reasons can suddenly become a really viable character.
JiBo, you said that you want to expose how people judge characters and their abilities. Well, that’s how I think.
I hope you can prove me and my limited “knowledge” about this game wrong.

Just for further explanation… even with all his crazy OS, I still don’t see how Hugo is supposed to get in on Sim etc. Or how he could deal with being rushed down. Without meter. I mean, at some time your point character will be hurt badly. If you’re stuck with let’s say, Marduk or Gief, you have some options. They have great AAs and some pretty solid normals, maybe a solid dash, great grab range or speed.
Hugo does not have this, so he seems to be the single most “situational” character in the game who can be used for one purpose only: to deal damage to the max.

That’s like me picking any game with the shittiest character of all time then beating on my little cousin and going low tier?[-X basically same principle… i’d like to see jibbo take on sethlolol’s law/kuma team or infiltration’s jin/lili team with blanca hugo and think he can get away with any of the shenanigans he’s been doing. Also, this may be semantics, but every game is gonna have a low, or last place tier so i don’t even know why we’re trying to argue otherwise :-?
basically this, and jibbo using that broken paid motivation gems. Which you won’t even have access to in tournies or anywhere outside your console. And Hugo’s basically last line of defense is meter.
High or low tier, it doesn’t matter. This thread is a great idea, except that I think more people should be investing time into doing stuff like this and not just wait for Jibbo to come up with stuff. The character forums here are dead compared to AE. Go into the lab, figure shit out and share it with the rest of the world.

I can agree with pretty much, it just kind of funny people trying to say Hugo is not that bad… when the topic should be about making the best of a bad situation and exploring what tools you have. Doesnt make Hugo jump up in the tier ranks but it doesnt hurt to explore these things either. So lets not jump the gun and suggest he’s gonna be winning tournaments now or laugh off the fact when people consider hes low tier. Because his bad just heavily outweigh is good. That to me is undeniable.
With that said how bout a Dudley exploration…want to see if there is anything i’m missing. Ya, i know he’s good, but i’d like to see some potential tech.
