You do realize most of the people who have “whined” about the cheapness of phoenix ARE the older players right? They’re the same ones that complain about XF. “OGs” liked games where it payed to be a better player and there was no bullshit comeback. Just look at that last game with Fanatiq and combofiend, he got robbed in broad daylight.
Well these “whiney scrubs” did not just come out of the woodwork when Viscant won. Phoenix has been a huge topic of discussion and controversy for some time, right up to EVO with the crowd booing any one choosing her.
There will be some who say Viscant was smart and used the best possible tools available to him, and others who will never respect his win because he chose a cheap broken character. All I’m saying is (unless he’s been living under a rock) he had to be aware of that.

you can’t read. there’s a big difference between whining about mvc3 and many parts of the game and showing respect to someone well respected like Viscant and instead whining about him winning cause of phoenix.

Viscant has the best Wesker I’ve seen yet, his whole team was just brilliant, Haggar did MUCH more work than DP.
Marvel top 8 and Poongko were the highlights of EVO for me, good shit Vis! Can’t wait to go next year!
You fail to see the parallel. People obviously can respect a win at evo, that goes without saying. But because of the reputation of the character he plays it’ll always be: Viscant won evo with a phoenix team. And people who are fans of phoenix are most definitely a minority.
There were plenty of Phoenix teams over the weekend, he happened to be the best of them all.

I never said that I did not respect Viscant. I happen to be a fan of his. I am saying, again, that he HAD to know there would be controversy if he chose to use Phoenix and that there would be people who would not respect his win. It is just a fact.

All the haters make it seem like using top tiers=insta-win. But the game doesn’t play itself for you, there’s still strategy involved. You can complain that running out the clock to win is lame in football. But if you don’t do it and lose the coach is blasted for it. But the fact of the matter is his Wesker is the one doing most of the work (putting him in the lead). Jean is just there for insurance (running out the clock).

an 8 yr making it speaks on the era he’s grown up in not the game itself. You can all the jokes you want about the game, but honestly, this kid has had the most access to knowledge than ever. He is also not stuck in his ways, had habits that have been built for years and hard to break. He’s a giant notebook waiting to be filled with knowledge and horrible scripples on the cover. this kind of things are happening in all sorts of sports and events, super young kids are growing up in this knowledge filled world. we think their some kind of prodigy, i dont think they are…their just really lucky to grow up in this day and age. when the internet and the community are their max.
if kids really dig the game, expect to see alot more noah types soon.
made top 32 because it’s mvc3…with people not blocking a smaller factor. you lose way way more in mvc3 when you make 1 slight error or your opponent is just pressing buttons (that leads to 1 or 2 character deaths) than in other games.
