Virtua Fighter 5 IS online

if it can play like zsnes or ggpo, it doesnt become a laughing matter, under good connections

i will be showing my demon dance skills over KO’d opponents and fake roll into water on ringed out opponents with el blaze.:looney:

That if isn’t going to happen anytime soon with a XBL setup.

Lol, there are going to be a lot of people backpeddling in this thread.

uhm xbl has nothing to do with it, its all on the developer side of things. its all peer to peer. the games can behave just like ggpo and zsnes gameplay wise

So it looks like this ain’t just tacked on online play, but rather an extension/expansion of the Quest mode. They are giving us essentially what Japan has with the data-card system in arcades. Very sick. Thank you Sega!

It’s my understanding that Ver. C hasn’t even been around in arcades that long (maybe since June?). This was rumored for a long time, it’s nice to have confirmation. Sarah ain’t (so much of) a garbage character anymore! Oh snap.

Oh shit, well look if it isn’t the VF.TV-esque feature. I predicted that shit months ago! Yes me. I’m the reason Sega is considering including it, believe that! Ok so it was pure wishful speculation on my part, but if it ends up in there damn did I call this or what? Aren’t I the greatest?

either way, a mock up arcade style vf.net shit is gonna rock. now theres more reason to have custom characters. man, parryall, this is gonna be hype. man st hd, this, ggpo, capcom announcing new 2d fighter, etc… what a fucking great year to be a fighting game fan, forreal

EDIT: i just PRAY am2 has custom characters set like regular vf4 on ps2, where each custom character had their own control setup. i cant express how shitty it is to change controls after every match on ps3 and vf4 evo. would be nice to just select my custom, and everything is set

hooray beer!

zsnes and ggpo arn’t ran on their own servers?

I am going to assume that there will be a stick coming out in conjunction with VF5 - as the DoA stick is pretty hard to find these days…

javi: yes, hori is releasing a vf5 stick. im sure its just the doa4 stick with different art. just a guess considering the pricepoint.

krsjin: zsnes/zbattle and ggpo are not server based. they are merely frontends used for matchmaking strictly. just like how xbl does it. it matches you up with an opponent, then you connect directly

Yeah, it’s a Hori stick. Still no pics of it, though.

The stick is estimated at $60. I’m guessing the quality won’t be like a HRAP. =/

I’ve played 3rd Strike with dudes and had offline-quality connections over Xbox live. Granted you have to find the right people, we’re talking about 3 years ago on Xbox 1 with old ass net code.

3rd Strike is just as frame intensive as Virtua Fighter if not moreso. Netplay is not going to be perfect but there is no need to complain. If you don’t like it, don’t play the game online, simple as that.

That being said of course offline is the way to go, but online play is only going to build the community and finally give Virtua Fighter the exposure it needs. This is great news for fighting fans period.

Hell yeah man. If Sega doesn’t rape the netcode we may actually get playable connections from AZ to PA this time!

Nah shit what am I sayin that’ll never happen

never know man

Going to correct you there. From what I can see, VF5 runs at 60fps? If so, then 3rd strike is actually less frame intensive.

AZ is fucking garbage. So glad I moved, haha.

^Yes, VF5 (and all other ones starting with 2 have) runs at 60fps.

Cheers! :bgrin:

Question- what you guys think the realistic odds are, that Sega makes a PS3-exclusive VF5 Evo with the online play, and features the X360 users don’t get? I’m still in full on decision mode (with KOF98 UM a factor as well)

Here’s some info about Ver.C

I read on another board that VF5 for the 360 will have the ability to create your own custom soundtrack. Any truth to this?
