The one with the full tutorial mode is Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and not the original Virtua Fighter 4.
Yo man it’s never too late to start.
Just make sure, that when you begin, start off on a good path. I mean, understand the game’s core and fundamentals, first and foremost. And you can learn that on day one.
Be careful, some characters don’t wear the fundamentals on their sleeves, so in actuality some characters can prevent you from grasping the game’s most basic formulas and choices by way of giving you complicated answers immediately. However you’d be kicking yourself later when your opponent doesn’t get fooled, and forces you to reach for your foundation and you didn’t come into it yet.
VF is a tough game, yeah, but grasping the core is simple, the game gets complicated and rewarding when you branch out further. When you understand, and are solid with the core of the game, you can compete against ANYONE, trust me on this. Better players will just disguise fundamental answers, make you reach for yours, or make you forget, hesitate, or question your foundation - in game. Keep you wits about you, and stay grounded with the fundamentals and you will be solid.
The biggest hurdle for one coming to VF is that you have to sort of change your philosophy on fighters a lil bit.
I can’t wait for FS to come out on console, I’ll come back to fighting games again!
Slide, where you been @?
Well VF4 ver.C had combos, flowcharts, etc and exercises to go through. It didn’t have things like the appendix and glossary, better quest (Kumite mode) but it was still quite good in comparison. My main thing with VF4 ver.C is not the tutorials but the fact vanilla VF4 characters are more expanded off their VF3 versions, while VF5 builds more off the changes they got in EVO.
Living a complicated life with twists and turns.
You?
Same as always, just with a saddening lack of Virtua Fighter. =/
Most of my crew had to leave/split up that I played VF3/4/5 with down here so I started getting into Tekken. Its great, a lot better than I gave it credit for last year I’m practicing to get better at it.
I’d still prefer getting back to VF though. Hoping the release of FS changes that.
It doesn’t matter, Tekken stole it either way. Much like they do with everything else VF comes up with.
Just today, on this site, I had to explain that to someone who didn’t understand how much other games steal from VF and try to call it their own.
so since i’m new to vf and i don’t know shit, i’m here reading the wiki and i’m like “so that’s how defensive/offensive moves work woah”
edit: the vfdc wiki i mean, such huge strats
Which character(s) are you leaning towards?
i have been messing around with akira and eileen. i know akira is hard to learn but i really don’t mind having my ass kicked by the game so it’s a good time and eileen is supposed to be relatively easy to learn right? (not easy but you know what i mean haha)
I originally used Pai and was thinking about subbing with Aoi. I always thought Eileen looked cool, but didn’t pay her much mind. Then I looked closely at her move set and found one of the most interesting fighting game characters I’ve seen in a long time. Eileen is definitely a good choice. By the time FS drops, my Eileen will be ready to break out the cage and unleash some serious monkey-stankin’. Akira does take more work, but it all pays off since he hits like a damn Mack truck.
Akira is difficult because of his execution, a strong gameplan with Akira though can be rather straight forward in understanding and implementing, once the game’s fundamentals are understood. Akira’s choices hit like a freight train, however his execution is his main roadblock. If you can execute, Akira can get you straight into the game no fuss.
Eileen’s execution can be simpler, especially if you’re originally a 2d fighter execution wise(she has plenty of quarter circle executable), but her gameplan might not be as straight forward at times in comparison. She’ll be easier to control right away when you first play, but the rewards might not be so large initially.
That’s the perks really. It’s like, you pick a character you feel looks the coolest in style and moveset, but then there’s the matter of if the character even fits you like a glove. VF’s character selection can get kind of personalized, cause a character can really fit well into your own thought process.
are you just linking the twitter so people know it’s there, or are those updates from the last hour or so something important?
Spam that Twitter with PS3/360 messages until they announce the game.
as if they care about what the baka gaigin americans have to say about their fighting games
Jeffery and Goh hit like Mack trucks, Akira hits more like a ford.
Either you’re getting hit automobile at high speed regardless and it will hurt like hell. The only thing the character determines is how much roadkill is left to scrape off or if there’s anything even there.
any examples? actually you need to just post more in this thread period.
Final Showdown to support Twitter in an “arcade first”. Who wants to take bets on how fast Namco “implements” this into Tekken?
