Well I definitely games in Blacksburg on Wednesday night if I’m not too tired. I might come there Thursday though, but there’s a chance I won’t have money though :frowning: so it might need to wait a week.

Gas in a buck fifty. Get it together. Plus I think there is going to be a gathering soon up here so you need to be here for that. You should have just come up here for spring semester.

Well. Me and Michael agreed to games on Friday, anyone else free?

omgyesplskthxbye

Well honestly I’m spending all my money this weekend to pay for half of my birthday “gift” http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-DL4-Delay-Guitar-Pedal?sku=150380 :woot::woot:

Lame, well I guess I’ll just be here by myself. In brootal richmond.

Yeah I’ve got a final (engineering ) at 4:25 - 6:25pm Friday, I’ll be free after that.

Also, I go back to northern VA for winter break next Wednesday but I’ll be back the week of Jan 20.

apparently I got TvC already in the mail waiting for me when I get home. Came in the mail yesterday, comes out today. WTF? XD

Corey: Ticks are never air tight. In your gief vs. gief example, I’m willing to bet that more often than not your opponent gets a nice “reversal attack” message when they SPD you. There will always be a 1-frame hole in your ticks, where it is possible to be reversal thrown. This becomes much easier when you play someone with a command throw because they can piano the button inputs for their command throw and increase their chance to get the reversal counter-throw. Your best bet here is to mix up your approach. Don’t always go jumping MK knees -> SPD. Do jumping MK knees, stand short -> SPD. Then you will also hae jumping MK knees, stand short, sweep. The key is that you keep the block pattern so air tight that they do not get a chance to pull of their throw in between knees and whatever normals you mix-up with.

As for Guile, I’m not sure what to tell you other than you need to have a charge over 90% of the fight. Sonic Boom? Flash Kick? Both? Just something. He isn’t easy to play. His anti-air normals are crap compared to say…Dee Jay. With charge, he has awesome anti-air. No charge it can be done, but it is difficult to apply. I don’t know what you’re doing or not doing with Guile.

Everett: I hope I get to hear your birthday present sometime.

Jaton: Sucks.

Justin: Uhm, hello.

Mike: Damn, I was hoping I could get some games with you before you left. Oh well, see you in Jan!

So I lied. I’m actually working tomorrow. So is Saturday good?

Fine with me. Are you not going to the SF4 lock-in?

Yeah, I’ve started using those mix ups. Which I’ve should havve been doing all along.
Next time you get on we should play!

Jaton: Great games. I wish I could play your fucking vega already. Was that Bison player’s… bison… good? He definitely gave me problems.

As for the rest… get XBL already.

Well, Vega isn’t really my main anymore. The ST days are gone, homie. My main is somewhere between Rog, Guile, Bison, or Hawk. Still not sure which one yet, but I think I do the best with Guile and Rog. Hawk is just the most fun, and Bison is silly.

Of course! Although I’m not 100% decided on it, I’m kind of torn between that and a used Epiphone Dot I found for the same price… But I think I’ll just just go for broke and save up later to get the guitar I really want.

edit- the pedal has been acquired!

As for games: probably

Don’t think I can make it for games tonight, too much studying to do :shake:

Street Fighter 4 is pretty good. It feels different from Street Fighter 2 and 3. Everybody is still playing their character like they are in SF2/3 depending on the character. Justin Wong (who plays SF4 like SF4) was stomping everyone with various characters. His honda was probably the most solid. He would basically get knock down stand over you and do this move where honda lifts his foot like he is going to stomp (which I think is his focus), then he would either do orichi throw or (if you tried to jump) splash, both of which result in knockdown then repeat until dead. Nobody figured out how to get around this (I also noticed that nobody tried to backdash on wake up, assuming that is even possible). Eventually the game got a coin error and Wong’s win streak was stopped.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a lot of fun too. The game feels a lot like MvC 2, but right now I like this better. The assists don’t seems so good so you don’t have people calling them out every 2 seconds which is a welcome change in my mind. The game seems pretty balanced which is a plus, even Roll doesn’t appear to be terrible. Also there is burst so you can break out of combos and stuff (requires 3? levels of super). Plus you have roman cancels so you can do some very long and neat combos (requires 1? level of super and you have to have some red life).

SF4 = so wait, how are you supposed to play sf4? It seems like get knock down and then do varying mix ups on wake up (as justin wong is playing) and that just seems like sf2 with more options.

TvC = I’m really hoping that I get that soon, since it look just awesome. How are the big characters? Are they worth using since you don’t get another team mate.

Or 3s with less options

Wong only did that with honda. With bison he played pretty much like every sf2 bison player only with much longer combos. With ryu… I’m not even sure. He had no real discernible pattern. He jumps a whole lot and confuses you with cross ups. When he got a dizzy he would do this though:

Focus > 6HP > 2LP > 2HP > hurricane

if you are in the corner you can add a fireball, or super fireball, sometimes they will bounce just right and you can do super fireball followed by ultra fireball. I think if you do an ex hurricane you can follow up with a fireball even if you are midscreen but I don’t remember.

I didn’t see anybody pick one of the big characters all night. I only tried ryu, jun, gatchaman(sp), chun li, and cacherin(sp)

Good luck on your exams, guys.

Remember, if you don’t know the answer, ‘wakeup dp’ will suffice. No matter what the question.

Donnie good few matches. I have no idea what was with the connection issues that’s the first time that has happened to me as host. Anyway, teach me how to get around Bison madness and Dee Jay tricks! Haha. That mix up with the tick throw is awesome. I can never get that to work for me though, Dee Jay just walks up and punches. Horrible timing I guess.
