Video games change the way you dream

Since you opened this topic up, I’ll just recount a couple of episodes I had:

Some of you who’ve been around for a while will remember the dream story from one of the story threads, but basically I dreamed I was in high school and school got out early, like 11 AM for some reason. Anyway, this hot dancer chick I knew at the time invited me to her place, and things were getting hot and heavy. She went to the bedroom, and I was about to follow her, but first, I went digging in my bag for a CD I had that would be the PERFECT mood music. No matter how much digging I did, though, I couldn’t find the CD. I never did find it, because I woke up.

What was the music, you ask? Dan’s theme from Alpha 2. What the hell, brain?

Now, to fully appreciate this and the following story, just understand that I have an extended history for cockblocking myself in dreams. 99% of the time, if I have a dream about sex, I’m not the one having it. I once dreamed I was stuck in an office while Sam and Diane from Cheers were having sex on a desk and I was stuck trying to figure out how to leave without them noticing. I didn’t even watch that show. What the hell, brain?

My subconscious capacity for cockblockery is immaculate.

Some time last year I had another dumb one more directly involving video games. In this dream, (marvel 3 alt costume) Morrigan and I were out shopping or some shit because we were homies like that, and she was flirting with me and suggesting we should sleep together. I was like, nah, I like you and you’re fine and all, but I like having my soul and all that. And she was like, but I’m not that kind of succubus, blah blah. Anyway, the gist of it is that Morrigan is a girl friend in dream universe who wants to get frisky and I don’t want to because I’m not trying to get addicted to nether coochie. This is just idle banter while we’re doing whatever the hell it is we’re doing. Later on we grab something to eat and decide to go back to my place to watch a movie.

When we get back to my place, we sit down and start eating, and while we’re watching the movie, I fall asleep. Yes, I fell asleep watching a movie in a dream. Suddenly I woke up and found Morrigan giving me a blowjob. Part of me (guess which part) is like “cool, free blowjob,” and part of me is mad, like, “you just told me you weren’t that kind of succubus, but as soon as I fall asleep, u succ me until i bus.”

So I’m mad enough that I started yelling at her, so much that I woke up to find Morrigan also asleep. Wait, what? So I had a dream…in my dream…that I was awakened from sleep by a blowjob from a fictional succubus. My self-cockblockery runs so deep you apparently have to apply two layers of recursion for me to actually see action. What the hell, brain?

What the hell, brain?

What is this?

Same here. I only experienced it once when I was about 18. Except for me it was a baby or a doll that was floating up my body towards my face. I couldn’t scream at all. When I finally was able to I couldn’t stop screaming for about 30 seconds. I ran into the middle of the room and then realised it wasn’t real.

I have had a few lucid dreams over the years. I almost always decide to fly in this scenario but in one dream I was being chased by some devil thing then it turned lucid and I picked up a car and threw it!

I’m not sure if it was because of video games but somewhere along the way I have learned to control nightmares in this way. It’s not exactly lucid dreaming but I do usually end up flying out of harms way or simply decide to end the dream because I can.

Great thread btw.

I’ve never had those moments when I had to respond to something. It’s a really specific trait about the moment that sets off the deja vu. Like my highschool thing, it was something that was written on the board that made me remember the dream, and that I had seen the room before. But yeah I’m always kind of out of it for a second while I gather myself. I’ve never gotten headaches from it though.

I’ve had a good few FG related dreams of just playing matches and shit

Related to that, I often dream of finding sweet arcades, but the games are always weird hacks or the controls don’t work

I also try to find the controller to myself whenever I have dreams about having superpowers (‘what button do I press to fly’)

It was probably the mental effort from straining to remember/say something before the moment was over.

Oh god the clairvoiyance. It stopped for me recently, but I would always silently freak the fuck out whenever it happened (sup gamerguy). Like I would know what was about to happen VERY CLEARLY, but then my mind would get all timey-wimey and I’d start thinking “what happens if I don’t do what was already supposed to happen? Is shit gonna get real? I don’t wanna die… I saw the outcome of the first thing, and that was fine so…” etc. etc. I always went with the dream because that’s how I think. I was having Existential crises like a motherfucker. Actually wait. I think the last one I had got changed, but it may have been because in the dream version of events I already knew I saw the dream of the event…so I did what the dream did…but consciously–fuck it I’m getting confused.

I dream a lot of weird shit everyday, the funny thing is that I forget about them very quickly even after minutes of just waking up.

I had some crazy dreams last week but I can’t seem to remember anything, maybe there’s something wrong with my memory.

Sleep paralysis is the shiz, lol. I can actually force it to happen to myself by over sleeping. First time was a tad scary because I didn’t know what it was, saw this “the ring” looking girl in the ceiling corner of my room and then I pointed my finger (hard as hell to do) and said “spirit gun” hahahha. Snapped out of it after that.

As for video game dreams, I’ve done a few raging storms to destroy a parking lot full of cars. ^_^’

I still have dreams of being able to fly, but my flight is like that of an airplane. I feel the wind beneath me, and I begin making wooshing sounds, and then I wake up in a place other than my bed.

I rarely dream about games (but when I do, it’s about fuckin’ hot VG bitches!), but I do have vivid hallucinations about games that I’ve been playing recently. Most significant was Wing Commander Privateer and Oblivion. I literally thought momentarily that I could harvest random plants I came across. I guess I could harvest them, but I was mostly mad that I wasn’t in the game for real.

Then Skyrim came out and the realist part was me saying Fus Ro Dah to myself in the dark…

My dreams are vivid without video games.

That happens to me too, Manx.
Just doing some shit and a game I’ve been going hard in just pops up and it feels like its happening right in front of my eyes n shit.

Cockblockception!

Just snapped out of my dream that I had to will myself out of because I could feel my eyes not responding to my brains commands of open.

[details=Spoiler]So I had this dream where I was asleep and this plucky couple almost anime in away intruded in my room, apparently the room I was in was a mansion esque boarding school type of thing. but in the same way identical to the room I sleep in.

Anywho I could tell someone was in my room because the light that reflects of the mirror dimmed when I was sleeping and cutoff completely. on instinct I ninja flipped off of my bed doing a high velocity full force full extension jumpkick which upon my realization of who it was I cancelled by flipping off the wall.

After chatting with the two intruders apparently they were spooked by something in the main hall of the mansion, me being the realist said “aint no such thing yall are some punkasses” and proceeded downstairs because my lightbulb wasn’t coming back on, and I had to get another one.

So in the main hall I walked around searching for a bulb and when I got one in the corner of my eye I saw this woman who looked like her skin was inside out and she had all black eyeballs on with red irises. and in horror movie fashion she lashes out at me in this flickering light type stop motion thing and the whole situation resets.

It is here I notice I’m in my dream, and I try to wake up, with that ending in failure

I got very sick of the bullshit and I just berated whoever I thought was trapping me in my dream.

I think my first quote was “Seriously, you cave me some cowering simp and and an airhead little chested chick to help? Why couldn’t I just two platforms to stand ont that give me brief invincibility so I could just get my light bulb and go?”

After that I tried to wake up again and failed, got really pissed. shouted. " That’s It I’m sick of this bullshit yall motherfuckers making me mad I have have a mind to fuck some shit up in here" [/details]

And then I woke up, mad as fuck that I got stuck in my sleep to begin with

i remember having dreams of santa buying me a COMPLETE combiner or a macross vf a couple times. remember going downstairs just to make sure there was none (hoping there was, lol).

used to have black michael jackson dreams where i would protect his bitchass nd he woukd give me a couple mil cause i wa nice like that (fuck white mike). this was mike in white suit, michael are you ok, are you ok, are you ok mikey.

had a dream once bout the big rip. we was looking at the sky and the stars were moving faster than you’d see planes move. that dream was fucking sick, only time i can remember where the entire universe was about to end. people seemed to be at peace with it lol. not much you can do about it.

If I ever had a lucid dream that involves games I played or characters I’ve seen, I wouldn’t remember it. The bits I do recollect are raunchy as hell though xD

unfortunately/fortunately? i think i learned a way to put myself into sleep paralysis. anyone wanna try it out? if you can

It wasn’t freaky, it was Woodstock…

This has been documented before, it’s known as the Tetris Effect
