When the PS2 was about to be released I had a dream I was playing PS2 for hours on end. When I awoke I hoped out of bed. And turned on my PS2. I didn’t realize I was playing my PS1 until 10 minutes in.
The closest I had to a video game related dream was back when I was younger. I was all hype about GT2 I think and I had a dream that I was sitting in my chair playing it.
I used to dream about Paper Mario, and I tried to do hammer throw, but I couldn’t throw the hammer far enough, and died. I woke up right when I got hit, and realized that I fell asleep while fighting jr troopa. Since then, I have made it a point to turn off the vidya when I begin losing consciousness, but I forget sometimes and end up in similar dreams.
Have you guys ever had dreams mid-sleep paralysis?
Sleep paralysis is terrifying in itself, but I remember this one time where I was stuck in it and was laying in bed on my back, the only thing I could see being my chest. My eyes were barely open and I couldn’t do anything besides control my breathing.
All of a sudden, I see this big motherfucker tarantula crawling up my chest in slow motion or something. There was nothing I could do as I watched it slowly inch towards my face. I could have sworn on my life that that fucking spider was there, but as soon as I was able to snap out of it I woke up fully; lo and behold there was nothing there.
I’ve never experienced anything like it in my entire life before or after that.
After playing hella Tekken one time I had a dream that Devil Kaz was tryna get me smh
I also had a dream that the MK cast were having a free for all and I was in the middld of it 0.0
Last night I was in some room in a castle with a princess, and some sort of undead things started entering the room. I called up the console, typed delete a few times, and went back to the princess…
In fact, thinking back, all of my lucid dreams were somehow video game related. My first lucid dream was when I was eight, I was falling from a sheer cliff which must have been miles high, onto a green jungle. I was so high it didn’t look like the jungle was getting any closer. What tipped me off that it was a dream was that, well, everything looked like a Sega Genesis game. It looked realistic, sure, but the colors, the fact that the cliff was almost completely flat, the general shape of the clouds. So I took control. I was eight so all I could think of was bouncing off the cliff face like a tennis ball, and then I woke up. This was the “most lucid” dream I ever had. The other ones were like the one up above where I just do some simple task but the dream otherwise runs entirely on autopilot, including me.
My non-lucid dreams are often extremely powerful, to the point where I think they are memories. I once woke up and was pretty troubled that my dad had attacked me over my hair cut the day before. It wasn’t just heckling, he was yelling and hurling insults as though I had just murdered somebody. When I was showering, I ran my hand through my hair and realized “wait a minute, he can’t have yelled at me over my haircut, I haven’t had a haircut in two months”. And then I realized that I hadn’t gone to visit my folks in a week. Most of my dreams are not like this, but somewhere on the order of once every two weeks or so I have an extremely powerful, vivid, but not lucid dream. I often have to catch myself or I will just internalize the dream as a memory.
