I think that’s mostly OOT’s and Twilight Princess’ fault. Because of those 2 games the names are almost interchangeable now unless you’re one of the people who’s played link to the past. I’m actually starting to think that their might actually be a line (a thin one) inbetween zelda fans…where there are those who started playing the games around the OOT era and then the one’s who’ve been playing them since the first with some slight animosity towards OOT and after. I still have to try to finish Link to the past myself but I have so many games that I have to finish.

While this dude’s SD ‘Remix’ are pretty much the same music recorded over with different instruments(so it’s not really remix), his taste in music is very good-he understands that good music doesn’t always mean pleasant music. You should check his top favorite music list.

Just found this. It’s a page with NES-style versions of our favorite video game songs, done by a woman who posts at Rockmanperfect memories under the name Vixy. I think the program used was the same one for the Mega Man X 8-bit tunes. There are over 1000 songs here. No, that isn’t a typo. Over 1000. She’s adding more when she’s got time.

Best song in that whole game. And the 8-bit joint is just as crazy as the original.

I must say…she’s done a wonderful job recreating the sonic tunes. I’m somewhat surprised she hasn’t attempted to redo Ice Cap yet since both zones are usually at the top of the list in terms of Sonic 3 tracks.

Edit:…knew something was off. She accidentally named Mushroom Hill Act 2 as Act 1… eh no biggie

The program Vixy used to convert the 8-bit tunes is real simple to use. Give it a try. http://gamingrockson.blogspot.com/2008/08/make-your-own-8-bit-tunes.html

EDIT: You may want to tweak the program with the MIDIs you use. When you just keep them as is, a single song takes up a stupid amount of space in 8-bit form. I did Astro Man’s MIDI and it came out at over 35.1 MB! Be sure to hit the config icon and screw with stuff.
