Nope. Transformers Devastation is overrated and overpriced, so its music is terrible… Overwrought, boring, same-sounding orchestral music is the best. Go, CoD!
In all seriousness, though… I’d give Splatoon the nod over Devastation for best OST. Yoshi’s Wooly World has a great soundtrack, and the snippets I’ve heard of Undertale sound really nice.
Undertale has probably my favourite soundtrack for anything ever. Not just because the tunes are great, but how they’re worked into the game, the situations that they crop up in, how they’re played with for desired effect (stuff like comedically speeding up some tracks to a hilariously high pitch for a joke). It’s seriously clever stuff.
I’ve been playing games since I was a little kid, and I don’t remember ever enjoying a soundtrack to anything as much as I have Undertale’s. Doom and Chronotrigger joint runners up.
Shame, Challengers is easily the BEST theme of any DB game period. Followed by Vegeta from Super Butouden 2 and the Budokai stage from Xenoverse. Interestingly, the Budokai stage from Xenoverse, is “Challenger-esqe”
I just found this dude who records himself covering classic videogame themes on a banjo and other acoustic instruments. His name is Banjo Guy Ollie and his stuff is amazing. Here are a few samples:
He’s got a shit ton more, including several Castlevania songs, Final Fantasy, Wonder Boy, Shovel Knight, F-Zero, Mega Man 2, and Duck Tales. Shit is mad impressive.
Wooly World definitely has some of my favorite soundtracks from 2015. It has rock, country (a genre I don’t really like but here, its good) and happy go lucky tunes.
Excellent vocal covers of a couple of the Undertale tracks, and I’m not too big of a man to admit that these made me feel some kind of way. Spoilers ahead.
