Video Game Music Thread Ver. Once More With FEELING!

I was wondering if a thread like this existed in SRK.

that is fucking sexy

I’m giving this a listen to take a break from Halo while I’m dling some stuff off your site. I have to say this is some chill stuff. I’m digging what I’m hearing so far. Second track sort of has a Samurai Champloo mixed with Phantasy Star Online vibe I’m getting from it. It’s a shame I am unfamiliar with Dragon Quest’s soundtrack.

It will be a cold day in hell when this thread dies.

I’m on a big Kirby kick lately so enjoy some of the songs that I have in my Kirby Playlist.

Galacta Knight (This theme was good in Super Star Ultra. Here, it’s ten times better)

Funny I just hit up this thread to drop off one of his joints. Today is literally the first I’ve heard of the guy and I, at the very least, LOVE this SoR Remix.

please re-upload the albums from this post:

thanks in advance!

It’s all about Demons/Dark Souls OST. Also, All Metal Gear Soundtracks.

Weird question, but does anyone have a game or song that got you into video game music?
Like for me it was Zelda. I always wanted an Ocarina so I could play the songs from there (yes, I know every kid and their mother had that same dream.)
But still, that love for the music carried over to other games. Now there were plently of games before that, but OoT made me realize that there was a world of music I had yet to explore.

Yeah, for some weird reason as a kid, I was kind of in denial at first thinking video game music can’t be better than real music.
But I was re-playing Chrono Trigger and then I thought that the intro was awesome.
So I started listening to all the Chrono Trigger songs, then Megaman, and so forth.
Then I started listening to covers and remixes for all of these old games, and it won’t stop dammit.

that game ruined my NES dreamworld forever…

scariest music ever!

For the majority of the campaign that I’ve gone through, I didn’t pay much attention to the music. I never cared much for Halo music so for a while the music was going in one ear and out the other. But then I got to this one area that makes me want to punch Roger Ebert. It was a spectacle and I stayed still, just soaking in the scenery for about 5 minutes(I’m surprised an achievement/trophy didn’t pop up saying ā€œI know, right?ā€). I noticed the music then.

I’ve had Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed since yesterday and it’s pretty much my GotY. Overall it’s a better improvement over the previous game but it does have it’s downsides. Non the less I’m enjoying it a lot. To top it off, ti’s retail price is $40.
It also has some wonderful remixes, my favourites being:

…and just for the sake of mind fucks:

Wait, they made another Sonic Racing game? I mean, a lot of time’s passed since that piece of crap Sonic R, but still.

There was a fun but flawed Sonic Racing game released in 2010. You could still find it for cheap now. It has Ryo Hazuki as a playable character…who drives a bike and/or a forklift.
It also had Billy Hatcher, Opa Opa, Bonanza Bros., Alex Kidd & Jacky and Akira.
That game had tracks from various SEGA games, where-as this sequel has remixes.

lol @ turning into a dreamcast controller boat. Man Mr.Jacques…godlike. That Golden Axe mix is TOO good. My ears are having a bit of an orgasm listening to these…Why do I not have this game preordered for my Wii U? I’m gonna have to reserve it real quick and then pick it up on my next paycheck.

Golden Sun ā€˜Rebirth of Venus’ by Matt. R, S. Battle

Source is ā€˜Venus Lighthouse’. I never got the chance to personally play Golden Sun but a friend of mine had the game and I got a chance to watch him play. Battle sequences and summons for this game were awesome and had pretty solid sprite work. I was unfamiliar with the source but the ReMix itself is awesome even without knowing it. Nice synth and strong guitar work with high energy and the work they did on the source is fairly straightforward.

Final Fantasy XII ā€˜RabaNasty’ by Theory of N

Sources are ā€˜Rabanastre Downtown’ and ā€˜The Royal City of Rabanastre/Town Ward Upper Stratum’. Admittedly for me through my time playing this game not many of it’s musical themes stayed with me…save for Rabanastre for some reason lol. I had some mixed feelings about this ReMix but overall I still liked it. Synth with some chiptuneyness and a touch of funk thrown in.

There’s more I want to point out by I gotta go to work…I shall return later hopefully.

I wanted to post this earlier when I had came across it about a month ago.

This piano cover of Xenoblade’s ā€˜You Will Know Our Names/Those Who Bear Their Names’ is pretty damn solid. This guy is pretty awesome considering he played it by ear.

Damn, that’s 70 pages that I gotta dig for stuff I like, barely on page 5 lol. Can people recommend me some tracks based on some of the ones I like while I dig? Here…

Falcom Sound Team JDK, various symphonic metal arrangements from various games:
Silver Will
Inevitable Struggle (One of my favorite VGM tracks of all time)
Intense Chase
Refuted Battle
A Light Illuminating the Depths

Sonic Hybrid Orchestra (SHO), Touhou music power metal arrangements:
Green Eyed Jealousy
Faith Saving Nobody
The Native Faith
Necro Fantasia ~ Gone Away to the Fairyland
The Daughter of Eurus

Daisuke Ishiwatari, Guilty Gear and BlazBlue music:
Imperial Code (Another one of my favorites)
Condemnation Wings
Awakening the Chaos
Meet Again
Awe of She (Hard Rock Arrangement)

Shoji Meguro, Persona and other games:
The Battle for Everyone’s Souls
Heartful Cry
The Almighty
Princess Amagi
Vulnerability

The King of Fighters '99 Arranged OST:
Tears
WWIII
The Way to Rebirth
My Dear Fallen Angel
KD-0079

King of Fighters Maximum Impact OST:
Rooftop Realism
Gaining Strength Under the Waterfall (Dat Bass)
Enigma Machine
Requiem for 50,000 People
Infectuous Love

Yoko Shimomura, Kingdom Hearts and other games:
Dirge of the 14th (I managed to snag a high quality version of this song, the ones one YT have terrible quality)
Rage Awakened
Dark Impetus
The 13th Dilemma
The Other Promise

I’m a sucker for the violin, so give me all the violin + metal stuff you can find. Symphonic metal, I love that shit. I only like the arranged versions or remixes of old school games, I was never a fan of the 8-bit stuff.
