Nobody worth a lick has given it a solid shot yet.
Fighters don’t presently attract a crowd, because only the hardcore sustain them, and that model isn’t working out as well as it used to.
It’s like saying using colors in superhero costumes on film won’t work because Blade and X-Men only used black leather. Remember when people were saying Iron Man was going to bomb because nobody knew who a C-list Marvel comic character was?
Just because something isn’t working now doesn’t mean it can’t work.
F2P, multiplatform, and crossplay. It’s all worth a shot.
I do buy DLC costume items and characters. So, yeah. I may not be dropping 100% on games, but I do drop at least 50% if I like a game.
Try switching the business model, or suffer in obscurity like the SHMUP. I’d like to see fighting games thriving again.

Hate on SFV all you want, but before CoVid it was still bringing in numbers.
Fighters are bigger than they have ever been, like what more do you want? Or do current fighters not appeal to you so they’re dead?

Hey, maybe I’m wrong.
I could have a real bad read on the genre. Just seems like interest during this past console cycle was nowhere near the 2008 resurgence.
As for current fighters. . . I’ve been known to play SFV, DBFZ, GGXrd Rev2, GranBlue FV, Nitro Plus Brazzers, Soul Calibur 6, Blade Strangers, and choke all day for free in Tekken 7. I pretty much support the Japanese developers almost exclusively. Although I did snag a copy of that Power Rangers game on the cheap. . .

They lost the code for that DLC, and as someone who played a pretty stupid amount of Mass Effect, I assure you that Pinnacle Station is not worth getting worked up about.
What, you don’t miss stunlocking everything with biotics? Next you’re gonna tell me you thought enemies making themselves resist 90% of incoming damage for fucking minutes at a time was a bad idea.

I played a shit load of Mass Effect as well. You’re not special in that regard. It’s a Mass Effect collection. I want everything wether you consider it worth it not. Losing the code isn’t an excuse. Modders would make that shit work, there is 0 excuse for a company as big as EA to get away with this kind fuckery.
Less time removing asses, more time getting the entire experience on this collection.

I’m not making an excuse for them. I’m just telling you that they lost the code because that’s what apparently happened. If you ask me, they ought to find that shit again and put the shitty dlc in the “legendary” version of the game.
