Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

There’s also a hidden texture-less demo of NMH3 in the game. So good.

Pumped, but being a limited time is dumb.

Nintendo pulling Limited Run Games releases is super weird to me.

I’m not going to lie, I was thinking about buying the Super Mario Collection just to flip it in a year or two, but the game is like a top 1-2 seller on Amazon and that leads me to believe that there will be enough copies out there and because of that it shouldn’t skyrocket in price.

Them making it not available digitally after a while is super weird to me. I dunno, I feel like they lose money in the long run with these anti-consumer tactics.

I think Nintendo is planning to sell GameCube and Wii games on the Switch at some point. If they want to drive the sales and success of that, it would explain this whole limited run at least a little bit.

I was thinking this was going to happen too, but the limited digital means it could be a ‘thing’ in the future. I 'm happy with it, more than I though I’d be.

I was thinking this was the fallback plan due to delays, but being the 35th Anniversary, it was planned. It’s not the first time they’ve done this, though. I hope they release other collections from other ip without the limited availability.

EDIT: At least we know their official emulators are running on Switch hardware.

FFXVI has apparently been in development for 4 years now, and might actually come sooner than we think.

Hey so… Genshin Impact is kinda cool. I had no idea it was f2p, but downloaded it yesterday and launched it first time today

First impression - it’s VERY Zelda-ish. And it’s very pretty. Amber already best girl. Apparently there’s coop too?

Most games in Japan and Europe are censored due to rules against depicting graphic violence.

The uncensored stuff folk gush about and praise coming out over here are usually made with a Western audience in mind but censored in Japan, as selling it otherwise would restricted the distribution in their home country.

Edit: My nephew would love Steve in Smash but still waiting on someone being announced to force my hand in buying the DLC.

Most despictions of violence became banned due some incidents that happened there during the 90s and beginning of the 00’s.

What prompted the legislation was a mass murder that happened in Akihabara, iirc.
Technically, you can have violence on this games, but there are a lot of restrictions that most devs dont want to deal with.

So they use creative ways to bypass it, like Metal Gear Revengance, that changed the blood of everyone into white for example.

In the case of anime, movies, etc, what they do is that the Blurays get uncensored, while anything for public viewing and broadcast is censored.

Iirc, by the time that the legislation came in, GG removed the blood splashes from the game with GGAC.

4 years? Was XV never finished because they started development on this game?

XV was a necessary sacrifice. :triumph:

XV had a really troubled developement because the game was being done alongside the Luminous engine, which suposedly was going to be the engine in which the game will run.

Long story short, developing you engine alongside the game that will use it always leads to problems.

Then add that when that wasnt panning out, they moved the game 2 times to different engines, 1st UE3, then UE4.

Then you have the whole problem that SE put Nomura to work/oversee on multiple projects at the same time, like FFXV, the design of Luminous, KH, the movies, etc, etc.

And then we have that during that generation, many Jap studios were caught with their pants down, since most of them were not prepared to the issues of developing for HD consoles.
Making basically all of them to stumble during most of the generation.
