I used optical audio to connect dvd/Blu-ray players and consoles to my surround sound system.
The og xbox , xbox 360 and ps4 for 19 years.
The main failing now is that they can’t do true hd surround ,just regular surround. Also with modern receivers having hdmi ports on them now makes it easier to just use one type of connection for a hookups.
I mean I could just connect hdmi to the tv alone but my system still works so I would like to use it until it dies.

I really like my Sony headset. Ive had it for 4 years and its great. No wires, no mic arm to worry about. Really nice imo.
You are talking the real Sony Headsets, not the PS crap
No I’m talking the PS one. I have two of them. They are great from my experience.

I just plug in the USB dongle and my headset works on my PS4. What are you using?
it’s the best way if you want to play the games with headphones, better sound quality. For me having a second audio out makes it easier when i rather play with my PC speakers instead of the home theater ones. Also by having an optical out it’s an easy way to record audio.

The fact that Sony specifically makes it so you can’t use Bluetooth with any headset but theirs is cancer of the highest calibur.

Yea i do find the propriatary drivers to be kind of fucking stupid. It was annoying i couldnt use my logitec head set back when i had it.

I have a Logitech that it recognizes but only because it’s wired. And I ain’t using a wired headset

Yea Wired seems to be universal but wireless is driver dependant. Unfortunate.

It’s funny cause they let you use a multitude of devices through Bluetooth. Even Keyboard and mouse. But you better cough up money for them PlayStation Golds if you’re tryna talk to your friends wire free.
Yea it’s pretty silly. Thankfully I like the headset and they aren’t terribly expensive.

Most the wireless headsets I used had dongles with them. I plug it into the USB port and I was good to go.

I got issues with high quality wires sets onnthe PS4, the sound way too low unless I usea headphone amp. My Sennheisers which is fantastic on everything else is terrible on my PS4.
Are the headsets that much better or something? I’ve always been more comfortable wearing just the in-ear headphones, so bless Sony for including a 3.5mm jack in DS4, that shit’s cool

No, Sony just makes it hard to use headsets.
If you got a cheapo 3.5mm earbuds that comes free with your phone they work okay.
So does anything with a USB dongle.
But if you want any quality headphones or anything Bluetooth that isnt specifically Playstation branded, you have to jump though hoops for no good reason.
Biggest thing I hold against the PS4
And this is me, Mr Fuck Xbox.
I hate using the in-ear headphones that come with the console. A headset so far better for me comfort wise

Quick load times man. Nabbed JSR and Sonic ASRT on steam and there’s no load times there. Sonic is unfortunately buggy for me, but the load times to get back into it are practically nothing. Almost make it easy to overlook. JSR is a lot faster, obviously, but it really feels great.
The Spider-Man demo demonstrating load times was awesome. A PS5 would be worth to it at some point, just to have Bloodborne and Judgment with practically no load times.
So I kept the Mario All-Stars pre-order. Played some Mario 64, which was rougher than I thought, but still more than playable. Mario Sunshine is as BEAST as ever. I never did beat this game but I remember just messing around in Delfino Plaza having a blast.
It’s still the same now. The levels are so dense. I currently have to bring light back, but the levels early in are so dense with things to play with.
Gonna give Galaxy a spin. I was going to buy it and the Prime Trilogy at some point on the Wii U. I’m guessing that is going to drop on Switch at some point. The All-Stars release is probably Nintendo testing their emulators for the N64, GC and Wii?
