Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

Like I said the other day, I knew it wasn’t going to be a launch title but likely within Q1 if the consoles launch.

If it is a launch title though between it and Miles I am there day one

If anyone finds a hi-res video of the demo they showed please link it. The stream was fucking up for me and very choppy and not great quality throughout a lot of it.

Nah, the 2016 game running at 30fps is not because the hardware is ass.
Is because the industry has really low standards.

Most devs (westerns, specially ) really think that 30fps is acceptable, so they usually aim for that instead of trying to make their games run at 60fps.

Also add that many really like to push for graphic fidelity, even if it makes their game performance tank.

Which is why i would kill for them to actually give the players the choice to go for either graphics or actual gameplay performance.

It wouldnt even be hard, but fuckers really want to push for graphics, which coincidentally is what keeps increasing the costs of making games in a stupid way.

Unlocking talent trees in Gunfire Reborn is tedious AF.

Holy grind, batman.

Except lots of PS4 games run at 60fps.

It’s not a hardware issue. It’s a priority issue.

The reason that game looks “Next Gen” is because they prioritized it looking pretty as fuck over running at double the frame rate because pretty sells. High FPS do not.

The whole 30fps thing has never bothered me when it comes to certain genres.

Games that are more cinematic I have no problem with 30fps. I mean I instantly turn off the “smoothing” bullshit that comes with newer TVs as soon as I get one. All they do is make normal movies and shows look like they are plays and on a stage.

I kind of say the same things goes for games. When it’s cinematic I want it to look like a movie. I dunno I just can’t honestly think one a single game where I said “I wish this was 60fps it would be so much better” that was an adventure/cinematic type of game.

But if it’s a racing or fighting game, then yes, it must be 60fps. Those need precision and buttery smoothness and racing games need 60fps for the sense of speed.

I honestly don’t see how someone could look at the Ratchet and Clank video above and not want to play it or say it looks like crap because it’s only 30fps.

I remember playing Destiny when it first released, and just loving the shit out of how fun the shooting mechanics and special moves were. Then I played DOOM 2016 and took a break from the Destiny grind. When I went back to Destiny, that’s when I noticed how awful 30 FPS was for FPS games. It felt like I was underwater. I’m definitely on the side of performance over graphic fidelity. I think there’s a point of diminishing returns with graphics

FPS is another one I’d say 60fps should be a priority. I don’t really play FPS anymore though.

Has anyone signed up for the PS5 pre-order? I just submitted my ID and it said I’ll get an email if selected. Has anyone gotten the email?

Yeah they gave away Destiny 2 for PC a while back. When Bungie implemented cross save on the game, I moved my PS4 save over to PC. Going back to PS4 seems like playing under water by comparison.

The majority of action games should be 60fps as well. I can only think of a handful of amazing action games that run at 30fps, like God Hand for example.

I signed up yesterday but didn’t get any email. I’m guessing they won’t be sending the emails until the price is announced and actual preorders open up.

The page says if you get an email to “act fast” so that makes me believe you won’t receive one until they are ready to be preordered.

Same.
I gave Destiny a pass because i was playing with friends, but Destiny always felt terribad when coming back from other games like Titanfall or Doom.

Man…when you have the proper context for it, Trials of Mana’s intro is kinda sad.

If you’re talking about the wolf guy intro in Trials, then yea it’s pretty fucked up (only played the demo tho)

No I mean the games intro intro. Pre start screen intro.
