I’d say the PS2 and 3DS Ages lines are the best. I enjoyed what was there, but that sucks too. It said they’ll continue to do classics so I hope we see more in the future.
Nightshade is kicking my ass I almost have the stage 6 boss down. Almost.
Killer 7 continues to be on the back burner.
Super Metroid I’ve been making headway. All of last night, I felt like a kid again playing Metroid 2 on the Game Boy wondering where to go. I forgot about Norfar. Just beat the boss for the area. Apparently I’m supposed to have the wave beam and grappling hook? I have the ice beam
Can’t believe Lord William couldn’t get into this, haha!
The PS2 Ages stuff can be hit or miss, (mostly hits) I am divided how Phantasy Star 1 got remade on PS2 Remake. Sega did Fantastic with Fantasy Zone and Space Harrier, but Manacco GP is just bleh.
And they butchered Golden Axe.
The Saturn had some good Ages stuff, mostly older Arcade stuff but its all smooth and sounds great.
I like the PS1 Ages version, not sure how I’d feel about the 3D remake though, even back then. They did have NiGHTS, the Treasure Box, Panzer Dragoon. A Shinobi collection has been long overdue.
Playing Super Metroid, I’m stuck on a part where wall jumping is required. Tricky stuff. I remember @chadouken saying DKC was the best looking game on SNES in his opinion. You’re opinion is wrong.
Super Metroid (along with LTTP) are the only 2 games which I can play and instantly remember the location of every bonus and power up. Maybe I should upload a walkthrough of that game soon…
No, I just don’t appreciate getting pinged first thing in the morning to be told I’m wrong about some dumb shit by an iodiot who doesn’t understand the rules of simple contractions.
I was gonna hate but man, could you imagine growing up and OG gameboys had sick computer graphics, could play online due to technological sorcery and you had a free game with Marvel characters that was lit and all your friends play?
Yeah we all look back at the 8bit and 16bit days and remember how awesome gaming was back then. And it was for sure. Having friends come over locally and sit around for hours gaming was unreal. And you couldn’t just look up shit on the internet. I remember being hype for the Tips and Tricks part of Gamepro back in the day.
Oh and you had to buy magazines to get info about new games coming out and reviews. That was awesome too going to the book store and seeing EGM, Gamepro, and I remember when Next Generation came out and it was like completely different and more information geared. Those were the days.
But if you didn’t grow up with that then you don’t miss it. Growing up being able to game with friends from the comfort of your own home and talk to them would have been incredible as a kid. Having all of the options to game now as well. The market is booming right now. It has all the new AAA games that everyone enjoys, and now you have the people who grew up in the 8/16 bit era making the retro games as indie developers. It’s a win/win for everyone.
The one thing that will never be replicated though is going to arcades. Man that was so much fun. Sure they still have them now a days but they are just huge ass sit down racers and stuff. Playing games like X-men, Final Fight, and any beat em up game was so much fun with randoms and friends in arcades. Then we got the fighting games that we all know and love. Having to stand shoulder to shoulder against someone that you want to kick their ass definitely built up tension. Putting your quarter on the bezel to claim your spot in line. Just walking into an arcade and the sounds and lights of it all. Nothing will ever replicate that.
