Oh, maybe that’s what it was. I saw it there and assumed it was a Game Pass thing, I guess it’s just free to start.
Guess I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
I have every amiibo figure to date and I don’t want any of the amiibo cards.
Or maybe I’m just playing hard to get?
Main line PS games are different from the PSO styled games. Phantasy Star 1-4 are standard turn based rpgs like final fantasy meets star wars. PSO is very hub based small group missions, and PSO2 is an evolution of that with more modern MMO traits.
Oh, that’s really interesting. I wouldn’t mind trying the single player games as well.
Which one of the single player ones are the best in your opinion? Do you think the PSO titles are better than the offline ones, or vice versa?
Phantasy star 4 for the Genesis is the best in my opinion. Also one of my favorite games of all time. There’s a lot of references to previous games, but it isn’t necessary to play those to enjoy it.
As for PSO, you can enjoy them just fine offline (well, PSO episode 1&2 for GC. PSO2 is online only). I’ve put hundreds of hours into my GC copy. There’s also Blue Burst, which is the pc port of Episode 1&2. Check out the fan servers for those.
I think for the core Phantasy Star series the recent Switch port by M2 is what I believe is the definitive edition of the First game Includes both the FM and non-FM music and sound effects, a needed dungeon map missing from the Sega Master System game, an indicator of what planet you are currently on and some general split and polish.
2 to 4 just chose your preferred means of playing Genesis titles.
Oh my God… I’m realizing I’ve played some of these before…
It just now occurred to me that this Phantasy Star
is the same franchise as this Phantasy Star.
I’ve never finished one, but I definitely remember the gameplay and that boxart. Holy shit, I never put two and two together.
The aesthetic is so wildly different now, lol.
Hellblade 2 is Euro-tripping to Iceland
When asked by Kotaku to clear up the discrepancy, a spokesperson for Microsoft shared only the following vague statement over email:
“Our future Xbox Game Studios titles are being developed natively for Xbox Series X. We will continue to invest in tools for devs to scale across consoles. Which consoles each Studio/game can support will be based on what’s best for their game and their community at launch.”
The idea of all early first-party games being cross-gen originally came from a January 2020 interview with Microsoft’s head of Xbox Game Studios. “As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices,” Matt Booty told MCVUK at the time. Xbox boss Phil Spencer reaffirmed the company’s commitment to making its games playable across both Xbox One and Series X in the near-term in a recent blog post.
“You won’t be forced into the next generation,” Spencer wrote on July 16, just a week before today’s showcase. He continued:
“We want every Xbox player to play all the new games from Xbox Game Studios. That’s why Xbox Game Studios titles we release in the next couple of years—like Halo Infinite —will be available and play great on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. We won’t force you to upgrade to Xbox Series X at launch to play Xbox exclusives.”
Update - 5:08 p.m. ET, 7/23/20: Head of Xbox game marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has responded to questions about which upcoming games will be cross-gen with a slightly modified version of the Microsoft statement provided above:
i kinda did this when i found out dragon quest and dragon warrior were the same thing.
Oh shit, Carrion is on Game Pass! Fuck yes dude. That game looks so cool. Devolver Digital has yet to disappoint me, so.
Gonna check out that and PSO2 tonight.
SMH and to think I asked you to play Nioh 2.
XP lol.
I honestly think it’s gonna take some DLC announcement to make me come back. I don’t think you fully understand how much game time I lost with my data getting deleted lmao
Man we can power level you through with one of my late game builds or some shit.
Also they already announced DLC, and if its anything like Nioh 1 (as i ubderstand it) you’re probably gonna need a NG+ build at the least.
That’s true. It probably wouldn’t take nearly as long to get where I was again.
I know there’s the season pass and all that, but I didn’t think there were any concrete dates on when those would release yet
Man, y’all talkin’ mad shit about how only cutscenes and fuck that shit and whatever. I seen a grip of you motherfuckers get hype and say shit like, “day juan”, after watching a 2 minute cutscene trailer of a game. get out
Yeah, whoever said Ori is good is right. Shit is real fun and very pretty.
I tried out Carrion last night. Its aight. Its great to be the bad guy. It makes me think of The Thing and I get to be the thing and eat all these dumb scientist.
I’m an old fuck that remembers old school Phantasy Star. I like PSO but I’d send to the phantom zone for an old school Phantasy Star game. Hell I come form the era when people said PS1, PS2, or PS3 they were talking about Phantasy Star. Phantasy Star is the best 8 bit JRPG by far. I’ll fight anyone that says different. That game smokes several 16-bit RPGs. Game had “cinematics”, 3D dungeons, multiple worlds, etc.
It’s one thing to say Day Juan to known franchises, remakes or sequels.
It’s another when they show a bunch of news IPs with no fucking gameplay.
Yeah I’ll say day Juan to Miles Morales Spider-Man, it’s Spider-Man. Can you tell me wtf Everwild is? It’s genre or gameplay loop? Hell no, nobody can.
@martian speaking of power leveling, you beat MUA3 right? Did you play online at all? If you have played online do the levels scale based on party or can you power level characters?
I want to hop back on it soon. I stopped at the X-Mansion battle with Magneto and the Sentinels
