post/reply I had made a while ago regarding MH pacing stuffs, in another thread:

Spoiler

Yeah I’m waiting for the digital version to go down. They had Mh digital up on ebay for 20 and went for 23. I was busy at the bidding end time so, yeah

the game is just naturally slow. it’s not even about a start really. not that it makes it bad, but that just makes it unapealling for me. maybe because it’s as slow as it is without any goal to achieve, like darksouls which is slow but you play to get to the end, as well as learn about the world you are in.

I can’t get into Dark Souls because of that reason. shit moves too slow and it looks boring as fawk to play. I blame Devil May Cry. I can’t do combos or some crazy exploit that makes the character spaz out… must be shit. <-- that’s my mentality towards all 3rd person action rpg games. I enjoy watching other people play the game, though. I can only last about 15 - 30mins before I turn it off.

The game isn’t slow at all once you get into the bigger boss fights. There is a goal to work towards in each game, and that’s killing whatever monster it is that’s terrorizing the town/village.

DMC and Dark Souls are two different genres.

Just finished watching those MH videos,

MH’s mid air attack is no better than a plung attack in dark souls.

And I’d rather play darksouls.

MH is still dry and it looks like the depth of the combat hasn’t really evolved past that underwater expansion of yester-year.

Eh, to each his own.

True. I could have said Kritika which is DMC in the form of an action rpg or the many other korean stylish rpgs. my point was the gameplay in Dark Souls is slow and boring. The only rpgs I have any interest in are the ones with similar gameplay to DMC. I don’t think Dark Souls is a bad game at all, but it isn’t something I want to play. it’s just not for me.

everything is positioning and running around. and placing snares, and sleep poisons.

Not really much on the direct play aspect of things.

I guess, It’s at times like these errybody start sounding like PSindependent in here

IGN Podcast Claims 1080p vs 720p Indiscernible Below 50"

Normally I don’t care enough to give IGN flak (most of the time it’s their opinions that piss others off), but this is just laughable. These are either some blind-ass mofos or I’m Superman.

EDIT: I had it as 1080p vs 900p due to the video title, but one them actually says “the naked eye cannot perceive the difference between 1080 & 720 before 50 inches.”

Yeah I wonder who they’re defending

please tell me n one believes this shit.

lol when are niggas gonna quit jumping the gun over if a game is 720p or 1080p, that shit is annoying as hell.

Also any one copping anything off that Rockstar games PSN sale?

When 4k TVs are the norm, then it will be over whether the game is actually 4K or not.

It’s annoying, but I understand where people are coming from, they shelled out money for this shit, they want to get that moneys worth. These systems are touting them, selves as being worth 400 to 500 bucks and the latest in tech, so that shit is always going to matter.

Well shit. I’d be fine with ps3 graphics, I mean its cool new systems are pushing for new stuff, but just damn. I mean if someone can see the difference between the 720 and 1080 then cool, but its not like 1080 looks like real life and 720 looks like an old Saturn game, the shit is getting ridiculous. I understand if a multiplat game looks and/or runs better on a console then its tbe better version, but niggas really go to war over this.

As a PC gamer I don’t really care as I get 1080 60 FPS consistently =), but as a fan of gaming in general it’s disgusting to see MS have the nerve to charge $500 for a console and talk so big about about next gen this and next gen that and focus on all the extra bells and whistles no one gives a shit about. but not be able to hit 1080p and 60 FPS.

It’s business psychology 101, if you can get away with screwing over the customers a little bit at a time then you can condition them over time to take more and more away. That is the main reason so many gamers like myself are up in arms about resolutiongate it’s not the 1080P vs 720P issue itself as much as the slippery slope it creates. If gamers never spoke up we would have an xbone that requires 24/7 online connection and no used games. Look at how ridiculously insulting DLC has gotten with games, it didn’t become that way over night, publishers/developers experimented with the idea with the original xbox and realized it was a gold mine so they exploited game content more and more as time went on and that is what gave us on disc DLC.

Stopping a small inconvenience before it snowballs into a much larger issue is logical. It baffles me how you and so many other gamers do not understand nor care about such a simple concept.

Well because im seeing these debates mainly on ps4 and x1 games I’m not really into it, because I don’t have those systems, and don’t plan on it getting one, so I’m not in the position to say “man this ps4 is barely running or presenting shit better than my ps3” but whenever I see previews for games I hardly ever see “oh the game is about this…gameplay will be…” its always “is it 1080p? if not its awful”.

I don’t buy into this shady customer shit, which is why I’m holding out on some of this stuff, I have a wii u, and from what I see, Nintendo manages to have their games running pretty fine, and look decent as well, they may not look as advanced as a ps4 or x1 game, but if you look at Bayo 2, it looks great and runs fine if you can find a vid with good pixels that shows the full 60fps

Plus it seems that ps4 is running stuff better, so its mainly MS doing the lazy shit, and im sure once the consoles are out longer people will finally get their heavenly 1080p 60fps once devs master the system, but like I said, it aint affecting me since I don’t have x1 or ps4, but its hard not to notice it when I look up gaming stuff and that’s all I see is talk about that. I understand being mad about games not running a consistent 60fps though

I edited my post lol please quote and respond to that instead =P.

In some ways I agree with you and in some ways I don’t. I mean I’d have been happy is PS3 games looked mostly like PS2 games but where bigger and more expansive, yada yada. I think DMC3, MGS3, and all those late PS2 games still look fucking great, and would have been happy to have them on PS3 but WAY bigger in ways that matter to those genres. In the same breath tho, if they want to me to fork over a shit ton of cash for this new hardware then it should be able to pull off what is the tech standard for the time, and these days the tech standard is 1080P. Those TVs and monitors have been out and affordable to the average consumer for close to, if not more that 10 years now, how is “brand new” tech like the X1 unable to meet what is quickly becoming the standard? Going forward they are going to phase out lower res TVs like 720/1080 for the next big thing, the 4k tvs and monitors, so the X1 is already starting behind it’s competitors in this field, the PS4/Wii-U (which has lots of games Native 1080) and the PC, yet they want you to for out 100/200 dollars more then it’s console competitors. Then you got shills like IGN telling us you can’t tell the difference between 720/1080 unless your monitor is over 50 fucking inches, all to promote MS’s shoddy resolution performance as not an issue, when it is an issue looking towards the future.

So in some ways it doesn’t bother me too terribly much, but in other ways it does, especially when people are flat out lying to you about the issue in order to make it sound like something it’s not.
