Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

Blizzard deserves all the bad things in life because of how much WoW bullshit I had to listen to when the games released.

Oh no, the Chinese populace really fucking care. That’s why they can’t afford to say shit. It isn’t just the CCP that’s mad, its the user base too. They aren’t trying to hear Hong Kong saying they’re a separate country.

Not like they can dissent either since they have that social credit bullshit…but still.

:joy:

funny thing is that this is all sooo close to the next BlizzCon event. Ohhhh if only I could take that Friday off [11/01; normally I could but I already took a nice chunk of time off that starts tomorrow] to see whatever is going to happen on this crazy train LIVE. :star_struck: You know a lot of the “suits” there must be dreading that day at this point.
Full steam ahead and there is no way out of it now.

This game Valfaris gets to be pretty damn tough just by the 2nd or 3rd stage, man…there was one flying bug looking boss I had to try dozens of times before even getting close to getting past him… I absolutely love the way this game plays though; it’s run-n-gun action but you also have a sword-slash attack, and there is a shield that is reliant on an energy meter… enemy projectiles can be reflected by “catching” them with this shield and throwing it back.

Anyone already got the HORI Nintendo Switch Split Pad Pro?

the people behind Fight for the Future are planning to protest the con. If they can gather any remote kind of crowd there, it’ll be hard for Blizzard not to see them.

I fully expect them to do a reveal trailer for Diablo 4 during the opening ceremonies, but I don’t care.

oh yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to the D4 trailer… more than likely it’s ready to go; I’m not sure if it’s best for them to open the show with that or put it at the end like one of those cheeky “…oh… and 1 more thing…*TRAILER” …I’d probably do the latter; then again I’m still a big Diablo fan so that may be some bias talking there; that’s main-event status for me…ha, actually I’m not even sure what they would have lined up for the show outside of that + whatever is next for Overwatch, really…and I guess World of Warcraft…? When it comes to Blizzard, Diablo is all that matters to me.

Soon… 10/29 is the day Vampyr finally hits Switch

My favorite scenes are of course quite the spoiler…ha, I can’t even drop a vague hint about it because of how major that scene I’m thinking about it…but mannnnnnn I had to sit back and just revel in the awesomeness in that moment…ok it involves a certain character showing up out of nowhere, and it was huge deal…it was a jaw-dropper when this character showed up, man.

…another favorite was a scenario where one of your options on how to proceed involved turning a certain person you were confronting. This game, man… basically it was everything I’ve ever wanted in a vampire game, and someone finally produced it. This game was a dream come true for me.

Huh? Can’t you just cancel your preorder yourself though?

Typically on with digital copies you can’t cancel a pre-order with Nintendo, They usually straight up refuse Refunds for eShop items. Here a copy paste from the article.

Nintendo as a company is known for some inventive consoles, fantastic first party titles and a complete unwillingness to give refunds for digital purchases of any kind except when they absolutely have to. A mentality so ingrained in the company that in 2018 Nintendo was taken to court in the EU to force them to start issuing refunds on digital products in accordance with the letter of the law.

So it is rare that Nintendo would offer a refund.

Overwatch preorders being refunded purely because a user doesn’t want to support Blizzard is an exceptional circumstance for Nintendo.

With the cancellation of the Overwatch launch event Nintendo appears to be distancing themselves from the company. It is not possible to then say this refund is happening devoid of any extenuating actions taken by Nintendo beyond the refunds. All of this comes after Blizzard was accused of Human Rights Abuses and as the company comes under the scrutiny of Congress. A company would have to be run by absolute morons to fail to see what is coming down the pipeline for them. Especially as Blizzard sets out to prove as Mark Kern stated, that the company has deep ties to China.

Looks like Nintendo want to wash their hands clean of Blizzard.

Earlier yesterday the new characters have finally hit GEARS 5:

Basically you can get COG Gear (:unamused:)and a “DeeBee” as new hero characters…and General Raam and a noticeably shrunken “Warden” as villain characters…they can either be earned in the game by straight up buying them OR completing certain objectives (this is surprising, considering the modern era of everything being monetized) COG Gear is a lame generic choice for a character, imo…BUT in December there will be an “Onyx Guard” skin variant for him so that kinda redeems it for me.

Oh, and 2 more Terminator characters are in now…but those cost money… at first this sounds potentially cool…UNTIL you realize these are “Dark Fate” characters we’re talking about…yes, they put that “tall MacCauly Culkin” looking girl in there and the “REV-9”, which is apparently the name of the new dark-grey Terminator, who always looks like a piece of his head is missing for some reason.

I realize this is a text-book case of “cross-promotion” going on here, but I would definitely prefer other characters from that world… like perhaps the T800 with Arnold’s likeness; the 1984 version preferably… or the T-1000, or Kyle Reese, or Terminatrix (Kristanna Loken) , or younger T2-version Sarah Connor. Hahaha I’d even rather play as Paul Winfield’s character from part 1 than that new blonde woman.

It helps that the Switch version of Overwatch turned out to be a shitty port. I been reading a lot of bad things about it on Reddit

To me it does not matter, as my only reason to get Overwatch in the first place if my one friend also gets it, and he not because he hates Blizzard more than I hate Them.

Also I take what’s said in reddit with a grain if salt. Like the WH 40k subreddit is such a fucking dumpster fire it’s a joke.

Only the Switch port does have legitimate issues with it. Outlets have reported on how bad the port is. I used Reddit to see how bad it is from the userbase. I await the digital foundry breakdown to see how bad it is.

So basically they really didnt give a fuck and fudge their way though doing the port.

Doesn’t matter anyways as good will is so lost they are making Beth look like golden boys in perspective with their fuck up of Fallout 76

Till this day. I’m still amazed at Gamma’s story. Like this level of story telling, character development and philosophy was in a damn Sonic game. A one off character had hands down the most thought provoking, and impactful character arc in the whole series.

In the same game as Big the Cat no less.

I hated Big the Cat with such a damn passion. He’s slow, he sounded like an actual retarded person, and I didn’t care about his desire to find …whatever the hell his little buddy was called…and these bitches had the audacity to make it so you HAVE to finish Big’s dumbass part of the adventure (which slowed the pace of the game to such an annoying degree) to get the “real” ending.

GEARS — There is also a Terminator special Horde mode going on from now to 10/29… as you might guess the whole mode is about your squad vs. the machines…so you fight a legion of T800s, REV9s + the other robotic enemies in the game…and it is only 20 waves. (*which might be a bonus for those who complain about 50 waves being too long)

Yeah like it makes me wonder why some characters were added to the Sonic series. Like Big The Cat, Rouge, Babylon Rogues, Team Chaotix etc. Like what did they add??? Imo it was an attempt to rival Mario’s large cast.

The only additions that were warranted outside of the genesis era was Shadow because he legit brought some needed edge to the series. As hallarious that may sound now. At the time of SA2. He legit raised the stakes, and gave us a story that showed shit can get real in the Sonic verse

I didn’t mind Big the Cat. I still got love for Sonic Adventure, Sega not giving a fuck in how they ported it, when they ported it to other systems, always gives me a chuckle.

SA2 was the beginning of the end for 3D Sonic.
