I don’t like scalpers but I’ve come to realize that they’re hustling and they’re just trying to play the supply and demand game. Who I’m mostly pissed at now in these situations are the people who allow the scalpers to be viable in the first place.
So it’s Limited Run then in this case. As they can see who buying large amounts of the same item every time. If a small time shop like https://shop.dansprojects.com/ can catch scalpers and cancel the scalper’s order so can a larger facility like Limited Run.
Most companies dont care about scalpers. As long as all the product gets sold then why should they care if someone is flipping it second hand? I guarentee they welcome the business of scalpers just because they know the scalpers will buy a shit ton of copies.
Yeah, let’s see how much the Bloodstained CE is for the Vita…
Double what it originally went for or so, haha. Oh well, when there’s literally 5000-10000ish of these made this is to be expected.
It’d be cool if LRG made more than 5-10kish of each title they do a “Limited Run” of. Just make it only available to your website/Best Buy or something. They have a chunk of titles I’d buy, mostly Vita/PS4 Ys releases, Bloodstained and a Shantae game or two.
Scalpers wouldn’t exist if people were actually patient. Its tough now because the people who are willing to shell out triple or more for a product usually don’t give a shit and only think about the now and themselves. The only way I something like this would stop is if scalping no longer became financially viable (will never happen so long as there is dude out there with money to burn willing to spend thousands on a newly released sneaker) or the gov’t were to try to step in to make the practice illegal (completely unlikely).
The only other way to kill scalpers is to put an over abundance of the product out but thats a gamble from a business standpoint. There a pretty small margin to put product out that will kill scalpers and meet demand and its easy to overshoot.
Last time I scalped was when the PS4/Xbone first released. Bought 2 PS4s and sold em for 600 each. Thought about using the profit to get a PS4 for myself but I didn’t really care for one at that time.
Some person tried to make me feel bad by saying I’m ruining a kid’s Christmas by buying up stock I don’t need. But I didn’t really care lol.
Yeah, I don’t really have a problem with scalpers. At least not with games and shit like that. I think it’s a bit different when you’re buying out tickets to a show or something.
I can’t really blame the studio either though. Game Kitchen (guys who made Blasphemous) is a small studio who probably can’t afford to put out as many physicals as the bigger guys.
Which is what makes it infuriating when companies like say, Nintendo, purposely force scarcity on their items to enhance the public “need” for their products. At that point you’re pretty much forcing people to indulge scalpers.
The fathers of Diablo get interviewed. David was the lead on Diabro 1 & 2, and they were all together before they left Blizzard North shortly after their version of Diablo III was canned by Vivendi Universal(they were going to buy out Blizzard years ago, but it didn’t happen and instead they merged with Activision years later.)
^ One of the very few pictures of the Diablo III Blizzard North was working on.
The Scaheffer brothers founded Runic and are the main guys behind the Torchlight games. David made Mahvel Heroes and he made some indie that game that didn’t look all that great to me, and is now the literal Chinese Connection between GGG and China.
