Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

If Steam has something similar to this I bet my time would match yours.

I mean this doesn’t have any of my Switch time on it. That got more play from me this year then anything.

Edit: wait a minute my time beats both yours and Martians lmao

My 15 hour streak is legit. It was when I was playing Judgement. I ended up getting up early as fuck on one Saturday at like 6am. Before I knew it, it was 9pm.

Edit: Yeah Switch time is insane too. I put over 500 hours into Fire Emblem Three Houses alone.

Yeah, I’m wondering what the numbers would look like for Tekken and DBZ if it included all the time I spent playing locally on other systems. Probably a shameful amount. I’m pretty sure my 19 hour streak is from Resident Evil 2, lol. Wish it would show what game you were playing for that stat.

I’m surprised I didn’t break 2000 total hours. Ya’ll are wild.

Heh, I come across ā€œhackersā€ more often on console than I do on PC and it’s typically easier to do on console with less or no punishment for the hacker involved.

In Killzone: Mercenary for ze Vita this guy had his gun held upside down, anytime you were near him he’d instantly kill you and his character would make the sound of his gun reloading. People would leave the match entirely once they realized who it was.

UMvC3. Now sometime towards the end of its life on PS3, it was found out with a save file edit people could rock 3 of the same character. I went online shortly after this ā€œdiscoveryā€ and I got matched up with a triple Vergil team and a triple Akuma team. Now they got rekt, but that’s because they were terrible players.

Diablow 3 all platforms except PC. People would just edit their save files. Now they have weapons that deal 24989429842984298 damage and armor sets that make them invincible. Aris went on the ladder for the current season, and he was the top 3 Necromancer. You know who beat him out for the first two spots? Cheaters who used hack save files to have 202309032902390329032 DPS weapons.

BorEderlands 1/2/prequel. Same thing as Diablo and UMvC3. Edited save files. In a game where the entire goal is to kill shit for better gear, people edit their save files to skip what is literally 99.9% of the game. Wut.

It’s easier to ā€œhackā€ on console and in a lot of cases nothing will happen to you or your account. I’ve come across way more hackers on console than on PC. I swear you guys’ have 1998 opinions on PC gaming with some of the funky comments I read in here.

Haven’t run into a hacker on console since COD4. I stopped playing COD.

Modern Warfare 2 on PS3 was a hacker Paradise. You couldn’t even compete unless you hack yourself. The OG MGO had hacks everywhere.

I’m 99.9% sure Sony doesn’t have anything in place to punish hackers either, it’s up to the publishers to do anything about it IF they chose to in the first place.

MGO2 definitely had hackers too. Hackers on top of glitchers.

I dont’ even know how that could be true given you don’t have file access on a console. Jailbreaking a console isn’t as easy to do as plopping files into a directory on a PC.

Not saying there aren’t hackers on consoles, I think it depends on what you play, but I’ve never encountered console hackers outside of Dark Souls 2, and even there, they were few and far between. I don’t play that many PC games and I think I’ve encountered hackers in most of them.

You literally upload your save file to your PC and edit it via a USB stick, or you download a premade save and upload to your PS3. It’s literally that easy.

If you’ve backed up your PS3/PS4 saves to your USB stick, then you have the knowledge to ā€œhackā€ on console.

Yeah, I’ve even seen ads for those console edited save cheats before.

A lot fo the arguments for crossplay I hear are from people who are making excuses for why they aren’t playing a game they presumably want to get into. ā€œI’m not playing X game because they have’t released a PC version.ā€ Well even if they did, tournaments are played on the PS version of the game 9/10, so if you’re that interested in a game and interested in fighting games as a whole, why didn’t you buy the main console fighting games are played/released on? THese are presumably people who will play for a month, then quit unless we’re talking about SF or Tekken, in which case, you won’t have trouble finding comp either way.

I really don’t think that crossplay would enhance the community of games like a lot of people think. how many people do you think bought UNIST on Xbox?

Seems like a bit of an oversight that they’d let you upload your own save that wasn’t generated by the console for competitive games.

700 hours in Monster Hunter what the fucking fuck

We all know tournaments run on PS4 for logistics reasons. It isn’t like last gen where there was a better version. SFV and Tekken 7 have healthy communities on PC. Tekken 7 tends to get 2000+ concurrent players during peak hours.

Not really. I wish I could do that with Smash Ultimate. Fucking unlocking 70 characters.
