Yeah, given how important frame data is in Tekken that should’ve been in at launch.
The tutorial mode actually looks pretty good though, and will probably be one of the biggest factors in helping new players learn Tekken concepts, so it’s cool that’ll be free.
But again, all stuff that should’ve been included from day one.
Harada was against frame data for the longest time, which is why it was never in any other previous Tekken games until now.
I think the frame data DLC is like…three dollars and on top of this, it will tell you what your best move(s) are to punish and is part of the S3 season pass, so if you got the pass you have access to it.
If you don’t want to buy it or the season pass frame data is 1 free Google search away too.
Mine is DMC5 overall, followed closely by Amid Evil and Ion Fury. DMCV was just a blast to playthrough. Pretty much my only complaints are how god awful and frequent the loading times were on console. I almost bought it again on PC just to avoid that, but eh. I also didn’t like playing as V at all but those are pretty minor gripes in the grand scheme of things. Shitty we’ll never get a playable Vergil when most of his movesets and animations are already done.
Amid Evil I’m only about half way through. I stopped because for whatever reason my performance in the game tanked after a certain update. I want to go back to it when I get my new PC going. If you liked OG Quake 1, you will love this game.
Ion Fury is a love letter to games that ran on the Build engine(Blood, Duke 3D, Shadow Warrior.) it’s so, so good and it runs on that same Build engine with some improvements.
If you like old man shooters that have more of an emphasis on great level design, exploration and movement you will love these games. Last year DUSK was my GOTY, and I believe it’s on Switch now or is releasing on it soon. BUY IT.
Beat Shenmue 3 today, the game was great but way too short and the end felt hella rushed.
There are a few things Yu can improve for Shenmue 4.
QTEs must be slower / reactable
We should be able to free roam after beating the game
traveling back to older cities
give us an option to buy, trade and sell everything at once with 1 click
give us an option to fast forward time
this game could need some more sidequests
change the combat back to shenmue 1 & 2 with some improvements
after hearing 1 person talkin we should be able to skip the same quotes
the city felt kinda empty, all the npcs were just shop owners and only a few ppl walkin around
make fishing more challenging
other than that shenmue 3 was great and really fun
sheeeittt, it would be either Astral Chain, DMC5 or possibly Code Vein for me on the “game of the year” topic, though I’m still in the beginning of those games. Everything else I’ve played for absurd amounts of time is older stuff from last year or earlier.
Ha, funny that I had soooo much anticipation for Borderlands 3 [I even took time off for it], and yet it’s definitely not on my short-list of “nominees”. I barely even play it, actually…all this time has gone by and my highest level character is about 13 or 14.
edit—and oh yeah, the safe bet for 2020 for me is absolutely Bloodlines 2, followed by Doom Eternal. Man, if only there were 3rd person mode as an option in Bloodlines 2, hype level would go up even further. It’s already guaranteed that I intend to take off a chunk of time from work whenever they release that…and my vampiric adventures will continue once again in that world…
DMCV is my GOTY, but you know what…Bloodstained is right there too, it’s also my runner up next to Amid Evil and Ion Fury. I can’t believe it slipped my mind, I even Platinum’d it.
I wish it ran a bit better on the base PS4 though. It never felt like it was hitting 60 outside of 1 or 2 key areas, and visually while it’s pretty nice, it definitely could hit a consistent 60 with some optimization.
MOST ANTICIPATED GAEMZ OF 2020:
DOOM: Eternal & Nioh 2. I think I’ll Day Juan DOOM on PC, then when it’s > 20 bucks on PS4 I’ll double dip like I did with DOOM 2016. I tried to see if I could pre-order the CE a month or two ago, and it wasn’t even available anywhere on EB, Amazon or BestBuy.ca. I checked EB just now and it’s “unavailable.” Weird. Maybe they made a small batch of CE’s and they all got pre-ordered already or something. I checked Amazon.ca just now too, it doesn’t even exist there…dafuq.
Sekiro, Resident Evil 2 and Bloodstained are the games I put the most time into this year so they would be my games of the year. I’m currently playing Code Vein and have over 40 hours on it so that’s a contender. I want to add Asgard Wrath to the list but technical issues prevent me from moving forward in that game.
Most anticipated in 2020: DOOM, Nioh 2, Yakuza collection. I want to day juan them all.
Biggest disappointments: RAGE 2 and Wolfenstein: Young Blood. The New Order was great, Old Blood was awesome, and The New Colossous wasn’t quite as good as those two but I still enjoyed it a lot. Young Blood didn’t completely suck ass, but man it was disappointing and the direction they’ve taken Wolfenstein with 2 and YB is just fucking weird.
DOOM and Nioh I have high hopes for and that’s because they mostly look like more of the same at their core, but with MORE.
Fire Emblem Three Houses. I finally finished all four paths. I’ve put more hours into it than any other game this year. Golden Deer is the best route imo.
I played a lot of Rocket League, which is constantly being updated with new content. And lately, Destiny has sucked me back in with Shadowkeep. But neither of those two games are new.
Most anticipated for 2020 is DOOM Eternal, and the small chance we might see a holiday release of Metroid Prime 4.
