Director of Astral Chain said in an interview in this weeks Famitsu that Astral Chain has been in development for almost 5 years. It was in development before Nier Automa even began its planning stages
Also mentioned Astral Chain was going to be in a medieval setting but Nintendo suggested several things that resulted in what the final product became. Saying Nintendo told Platinum they didn’t think a medieval setting would be a good hook for a new and exclusive IP coming to their new system.

It’s really interesting to see how close Nintendo and Platinum have become. Seems to be a very beneficial relationship in more ways then just business. That’s really cool imo.

So Sega just showed off Yakuza 7, and it now has JRPG style turn-based combat.

I finally played my system docked a few times for Diablo 3 lately… because it’s easier to see the details if you’re playing that game on a tv.

I just looked it up and yeah, it’s starring the new main character. So even if they call it “7” it’s still basically a totally new story. It even takes place in a new city, in Yokohama.
Edit: the trailer was pretty cool lol. No gameplay though:

I’m sure after making like 9 different games that are each just an evolution of the previous’s battle system they just want to do something different. And they said Judgement did better than expected so they might continue it, which means you can just play that side instead.

I was aware of a new Yakuza 7 with a new main character, the turn based part is what threw me off. So that April Fools footage was actually real. Lol
But imma pass on that, I’ll stick to Judgement
For those who forgot. It doesnt look bad, just doesnt fit (IMO) as a mainline title.
I like turn based. Bring on Yazuka 7.

I do too (finally beat Persona 5 a few months ago), just not in mainline Yakuza. To be fair, if that April Fools footage is an indicator, itll be a solid title
However, Im so far behind in the series, i will probably never get to Y7 anyways
