Day 1 patches are how the game is supposed to be at release in the eyes of the devs. What you get on disc is whatever code they had ready in time for submission to Sony/MS and then disc pressing. Those two steps usually take more than a month, so even then, the devs are still working on the game even if itās been submitted and gone gold.
Mass Effect: Andromeda, Battlefield 1, State of Decay 2, Wolfenstein and I believe MvC:I. They had āCollectors Editionsā with all kinds of merchandise but no games.
@GPK Wolf IIās CE comes with the game. The funky EU psuedo LE comes with the game too.
ā¦Itās been said multiple times that RDR and CoD need 50GB+ day 1 patches to even boot the game. Spyro Trilogy was looking to be that way too before the daily, which may or may not change when it gets released.
How do you own a Switch and are not familiar with this practice? Go buy Wolfenstein II for the Switch and let me know if you can boot the game up without being forced to download 1/2 of the game that isnāt on the cart. DIGITAL FUTURE.
90-95% games can boot up on day 1 without patches on PS4, but there are exceptions like these. In the case of RDR/CoD they donāt want to pay pennies to print an extra install disc to bundle in with each version so they force you to download 50GB day 1 patches. In the case of the Switch Nintendo made larger cart sizes so fucking expensive that 3rd-party developers will opt to slap 1/2 the game on the cart with another 1/2 you have to download. See: Wolfenstein II and a bunch of other games, or Bayonetta II where the sequel comes on a fucking download voucher.
My bad on having the voucher Bayonettaās mixed up. Still, point still stands that only 1/2 of the physical game is there.
Youāre right on the Wolf 1 CE
I completely forgot this existed and I own Wolf: TNO on PS3, PS4 and PC.
I was thinking about this sexy-ass release of the game:
^ GODDAMN do I want that badly. Speaking of PAL-only releases their version of Fist of the North Star came with a nice little cardboard box with a holofoil cover. Ours was a regular release with some stickers that are sitting behind the slipcover of the game. It seemed like a last minute change or something with how strangely packaged FOTNS was I found.
If the gameās worth it to you, itās easier than ever to just import from anywhere in the world. Amazon ships worldwide, play-asia usually has three version of any game in their portfolio (EU, US, JAP) etc.
Oh so they come with a DLC code? Thatās still different IMO since you can still easily get the full game in physical format if you want. Battlefield 1 was an online only game too wasnāt it? I mean if youāre talking about an online only game and want to play it without an internet connection, then you deserve to be got for $60.
I havenāt paid attention to CEās in like a decade though so I didnāt realize that is a practice now. That is really stupid though and Iām glad I havenāt wasted any money on CEās. With like 10 different āCEā versions now a days and all of these season passes, Iāve opted to speak with my wallet and buy nothing but just the games, and always in physical format if possible.
I donāt agree, all of Bayonetta 2 is on the cart, Bayonetta 1 is a nice bonus for buying brand new. Even on WiiU it came on itās own disc, wasnāt both Bayonetta 1&2 on the same disc.
