Sounds like Yookah-Laylee was just a false alarm for the year of platformers.

Platformers haven’t gone anywhere; they’ve been going strong for at least the past decade.

Calling YL the start of “the year of platformers” implies the genre was going under a revival, or that previous years did not have a strong lineup of platformers.

unfortunately i just started a very hard game and just got all the mosy powerful weapons (now they have even better ones!) but if i can switch the difficulty i think i can manage to do this.

the cool thing about ultra hard is that you cannot switch it back to very hard.

Platformed did go through a downturn a while back, and there was a point where only Nintendo and Indy studios were still making them.

Now, Crash is back, Sonic went home to his roots, Mario is about to reinvigorate the genre, the Rare collect-a-thon got a love letter and even Bubsy the goddamn Bobcat is returning…

Platformers are definitely on an upswing right now.

Started witcher 3 and logged in a few hours last night. So uhh why does the “light” attack look like it should also be a heavy attack? Dude spins and shit before he swings the sword. The controls are kind of ass imo, but I’m getting use to it. Other than that the game is pretty good so far.

As I said, combat sucks. There animations don’t make any sense really and rolling has no invincibility period until fully upgraded. You have to roll waaaay early to actually dodge anything for example. What’s good about it is all the tactical and strategic stuff. The actual actions aren’t that great. The game gets way better when you become able to use and make potions and spells n shit.
