Po isn’t off the mark on this one. The game’s roster did have a number of obscure characters on there that haven’t been relevant in a long time. Sir Daniel, PaRappa, Fat Princess and Taro on there. That last character didn’t even have any games published in North America.

What’s there to debate? Just look at the sales numbers and user reviews and you have a pretty unified consensus at least on the first 2 games. I’m not denying the likelihood that Isaac was included because EA threw money at Sony since DS3 was launching a few months after PSAS. I’m just saying that it’s silly for thinking that a generally well known and well liked character of the last generation being included instead of a character who’s only been in a single game is somehow an illogical injustice to anyone looking forward to the game. Unless you can show me the huge horde of gamers seething at the mouth because Dart wasn’t included lol.

Also the execs didn’t fail PSAS, the developers including Seth Killian had a lot of autonomy and still failed to make the game fun according to most consumers, from a cursory google search it seems the only super can kill mechanic is the main culprit behind the game failing to catch on as it could have. Is the PSAS cast perfect? no, are there some odd inclusions? yes, but it has enough of the play station icons you’d expect to fulfill the promise of the title, the game didn’t fail due to having a shitty cast, it failed because people simply didn’t like the game.

This might shock you, but not everything in gaming is some corporate mega conspiracy to personally piss you off, sometimes developers mis judge what gamers want.

I enjoyed playing Playstation All-Stars. I didnt play it that much and I have never really played a “smash” like game before so I cant compare it to anything. I only used Sly Cooper. I hardly ever won but I had fun with him.
