What about 3 months later when they release another disc with that character included and completely different? You paid $8 for that character, but now you have to pay $40 for the update that comes with the character.
The primary problem with these DLC characters is that they aren’t afterthoughts. They’re blatantly withheld from the retail version to be sold to you for a premium(then repackaged and sold again). All you’re paying for is the unlock key.
This is all arguable and I’m not 100% for or against it, but bullshit is bullshit.
Hey guys I really appreciate all of you turning Po’s arguments into Swiss cheese I was getting tired of being the one to prove him wrong and bring him back to some semblance of objectivity and logic.
cause you can’t you can only attack the person i’m not defending po although he is right about arcsys and phantom has helped prove that there IS a difference in the way arcsys is going about dlc and nintendo’s take.
i guess this doesn’t matter anyway because you don’t have to buy any of the dlc anyway.
Yeah, lets also forget that between BBCS and BBCSEX there is a gap of 2 years.
Lets also forget that BBCSII was given for free when other companies charge for the update along with the characters.
And it was only 3 characters, not 4, and if you are talking about BBCP, again, those characters were free at the beginning.
Oh and only BBCT and BBCS were charged at $60, every game after that is $40, with over a year of difference between each revision.
Add that beween every game only BBCS, BBCSII and BBCSEX are mechanically similar, while the others are different enough to be considered new games altoguether.
What 3 months later?
BBCT - june 2009, $60, 0 dlcc
BBCS - july 2010, $60, 3dlcc at $7.99
BBCSII - may 2011 free patch
BBCSEX - february 2012, $40, 0 dlcc
BBCP - october 2013 $40, 2 dlcc, free for a week each one, 7.99 after
BBCPEX - july 2015 $40, 0 dlcc
Persona 4 Arena - july 2012, $60, 0 dlcc
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax - september 30 2014, $40, 4 dlcc free for a week each one, 7.99 after
GGXrd - december 2014, $40 ps3, $60 ps4, 2 dlcc, given for free for a week, 7.99 each after, they are crossbuy, so your dlc on ps3 works on ps4
GGXrd Revelator just anounced for arcades, we know shit what are they going to do, i hope that they would offer a deal similar of SSF4 with a retail copy or an update as options, but who knows.
If you are going to make an argument at least try to give factual info, not going on hyperboles that diminish your argument, don’t go full po, you will only make a clown of yourself (more than usual)
Also, i find hilarious that the same people who complain about digital only content is the same that cry foul at the idea of not having a retail version of the game to play and carry around or have when the servers are gone.
Bravo sirs, your hypocrisy has not gone unnoticed.
But since is nintendo, it is ok on po’s mind, despite him going on tirades and dumb rant when other companies have done the same.
I still find amusing how he defends the amiibos when they are disc locked content with a contrived way to unlock it, yet moans like a bitch against any dlc regardless of quality or type of dlc.
I’m sure if they weren’t being pressured by investors/shareholders that they would’ve waited longer to release it. If they wanted to release an unfinished game to get more money from it, then, yes. That would be an issue. But a lot of it are things they probably needed more time to tweak or making new maps for people to play. The releases, pretty much being updates makes it a continually growing game and not just this game that people would get bored with easily. And it gives stuff for people to look forward to. At least with Splatoon’s case, it seems they’re trying to go for longevity. That can be a plus or minus, depending on the player. Not everyone is gonna be excited that they have to wait a week or two to get a new map, but, others may see it as something to look forward to.
Nevertheless, I agree. I wish more companies would just put out finished products and just have DLC as extra content and not content that should’ve been there in the first place.
Just my opinion, of course.
This is where reading and reading comprehension are so important. If you actually read the Wii U thread, you would’ve seen that Po bitches about Amiibos and not wanting to pay exorbitant prices for them, due to scalpers. Only a few of us, like @Davidstar, myself and @KaboXx have really defended Amiibos. He doesn’t defend it at all. Get your head out his ass and actually start reading before you start posting dumb, cherry picking bullshit. No, I’m not defending him, but don’t shitpost things that isn’t true, just like you don’t want him to do the same.
Yea, which is fine, and I honestly don’t have a problem with Splatoon, I’m only pointing it out becuase it’s dumb for this game to get a pass for being unfinished but “It’s ok cuz it will be finished for free…eventually” while another company who does release a complete, finished, whole product gets shit on for also offering extra content for a price.
Yeah, I totally understand and agree with it. I wasn’t exactly thrilled that there were things going to be missing from the game when I first heard it. But, releasing them as updates placated the problem, at least for me. I don’t like that any company that does it. But releasing it as essentially free updates makes the blow more tolerable than having to pay for it. Like people said, essentially making you pay for a key for on-disc content.
Yea, I mean to be completely honest about my feelings, it’s just nice Nintendo is willing to finish the game, even if it is in bite sized chunks. This hobby is supposed to be fun, so I’d rather the game be as fun as it can possibly be, then be left unfinished for the sake of the company trying to save face on whether they finished the product or not. I mean shit, I don’t even have a Wii-U* to play the game on, so there’s really no reason for me to be upset about this, it’s why I haven’t commented on it until now.
