Hey you know man, Nintendo can release an unfinished game with the missing features as future downloads and it’s whatever just let it ride, but when others add more value to their games it’s a scam.
If any other company had done what Nintendo has done with Splatoon he’d have crucified them already. I mean Rocksteady has proven to deliver whole, complete, finished products but giving people the option to have even more game with their already complete game is a scam worth stringing them up over.

The game looks totally different mechanically from the preview years ago. This looks more like that Bizarre Creations game The Club
It’s not downloadable, but it’s still content. Nintendo are doing on-disc DLC in the form of Amiibos, which are necessary to 100% the game by unlocking new missions and costumes. Good luck trying to find them in stores. You physically can’t buy the Squid one in the UK because most of them were stolen. So yeah, you’d have to spend at least another full-game-price’s worth before you can complete the game. Yay! 
And people hated on Capcom for doing the on-disc DLC thing but with Nintendo it’s apparently A-OK. The game didn’t ship with half its features, there’s no voice chat (you can’t even talk to your friends in your own matches and that’s criminal for a shooter), all the weapons are visible but level-locked to artificially lengthen the game AND the game doesn’t even know what to do when there’s a draw (in a PERCENTAGE-based cover game) and randomly assigns a winner. No ‘Draw’ screen or anything. And, anyone who might be reading this, don’t say I don’t know what I’m talking about because I preordered and have put a lot of time into the game. It’s a shame. We have to stop giving Nintendo a free pass for things that people hate on other companies for.
Now that that’s out of the way, I’m looking forward to playing as Lucas in SSB4! 
And I really, REALLY want to believe they’ll announce English Mother 3 this year. But it probably won’t happen…

i didn’t think we were discussing the amiibo features just the whole incomplete package thing.
i don’t consider amiibo’s to be “dlc” as much as figurines with functionality.
they can work across multiple titles and their impact on the overall experience of the game was extremely miniscule, besides people are collecting them mainly for the sole purpose of collection. the reason capcom got flamed was because it was a considerable amount of content that very much withheld a lot of the experience.
as for the incomplete package deal yes it’s incomplete ,but they are providing the rest for free.
regardless it’s still a lot of fun.
as for level locked “artificial lengthening” i didn’t find it a big deal the game is super fun you’ll be level 20 before you realize it.
i don’t believe this should be a complaint against it, it’s like saying hey why can’t nintendo just give me all the pokemon with perfect move sets and perfect iv’s when i start the game.
voice chat is unfortunate ,but there are ways around it like skype.
as for draw games? seriously? you know how often that happens? you’re more likely go to las vegas and win every slot machine consecutively before draw games become an issue.

No, Splatoon isn’t perfect… No game is. However, unlike most companies, Nintendo was upfront about the situation and told people right off the bat how they were going to handle the game’s content rollout*(again, for FREE)*.
I appreciate a company being involved and upfront with their fanbase, instead of hiding behind press releases and Game Informer PR fluff pieces.
