Video Game General 3.0 - You know what should come back? Pre-rendered backgrounds!

I don’t like the idea that my moves are essentially on a constant cooldown as long as I’m not holding down or back. The restriction also tends to make those characters a lot more executionally difficult than they really need to be.

I also disagree with the notion that not having charge characters makes the game more homogenized. BlazBlue didn’t have a charge character until three games and 24 characters in and that cast was about as diverse as you can get.

I don’t mind charge moves, but a charge move should be strong enough to warrant the charge time required (see: Sonic Boom, and how stupid it is in SSFIV 3D with Lite Mode combined with a command Flash Kick). Likewise, sometimes the charge moves are part of a character’s balancing (again, see Guile’s Sonic Boom and Flash Kick; he can’t throw a Sonic Boom and then anti-air with an invincible Flash Kick if you jump over it. Sonic Boom can keep it’s extremely low recovery time without becoming stupid).

In Vega’s case I can see him as a motion character working out considering the changes he’s gotten in SFV (grounded command grab, wall-dives now only have the attack follow-up and no grab follow-up, his rolls don’t appear to be safe pressure moves and instead combo enders/extenders, he’s got new specials in general, etc).

Who’s forcing you to play a charge character? So because you don’t like them they shouldn’t be in the game? The other way of looking at it is when a nigga holding downback you have to guess which move they’re thinking because the ycan just react with a quick slide of the joysick to whatever you do, less execution error room. I only played the first BB, pretty heavily for months until everyone in NY dropped it it was my first anime fighter too lol, so I can’t speak on diversity of the cast, but charge characters are fundamentally and excution wise very different than QCF so not having them by definition inches a fighting game closer to homogenization than without them. Look at 3S, one of the greatest fighters ever IMO, but I still don’t like the idea of everyone having a parry and UOH, it homogenizes the cast because instead of relying on what makes the characters unique you have access to an option that everyone else can do too and conceptually it leads to less divergent ways to play which waters the game down for both players and spectators IMO.

Does anyone complain about GG only having 1 grappler?

I really really really hope remastered Gears comes to PC. Gears 1 is definitively one of the most broken, buggy, and unbalanced multiplayer games of all time no one is doubting that fact, but it was fun in it’s weird fucked up sort of way if they fix the netcode leading shots, the host advantage, wall sticking, and crab walk it could be playable maybe even a fair game!

Only broken thing about Gears 1 multiplayer was the significant host advantage. Gears is at it’s best with dedicated servers

Making a character charge means that’s one less character that I’ll be interested in learning. Yeah, it’s selfish, but so what? I didn’t mind it so much in Kagura because his charge moves were pretty much just a minor supplement to his real status as a stance character, but most other charge characters have that as a core of their game and it’s a big turn off.

The homogeny gained from not having a charge character is rather minor compared to other factors. And the effect gained having to charge moves can be replicated with motions by just altering a few properties. Like how Nash’s Sonic Boom still has the low recovery and slow speed, but to make up for the charging, he just has more startup. Sure, you lose the “instant” moves, but given how everyone always develops execution tricks like charge partitioning to chain multiple charge moves together and essentially make the charge times moot anyway, I don’t really miss them.

You know, I find it funny that Zoo is ducking Po, when it was ZOO HIMSELF WHO ISSUED THE CHALLENGE

Koei Tecmo was teasing a game from Omega Force…turns out it’s an Attack on Titan game that’s coming to Playstation this Winter.

Excited, but not holding my breath. It would be nice to finally have a good AoT game though

Horde mode was the best in Gears. Sure I liked and played a lot of other games that had a survival mode but Horde in Gears was what I loved most

Since ST is Zoo’s main game , i told Po i would make a handle named “pimpus_prime” and play ST in his stead.

Yeah Horde was pretty good for the most part. Though there’s always been something special about those Gnasher fights in gears though. It’s almost like sword fighting in a way just dancing around each other trying to land the shot.

charge input completely changes the meta to how a fucking character is played. If guile was QCF and DP motions he would be a vastly diffrent character.

Wrong as fuck lol. Host wasn’t the only thing broken, as I mentioned players got stuck to walls and cover all the time, Gnasher+rolling was what the game devolved into using any other weapon was automatically sub par play, also the biggest problem with the game was the netcode you had to lead your shots heavily and even then bullet trajectory wasn’t consistent. Just about every single person whoever used a lancer from medium or longe range can attest to it, and I didn’t even mention the dozens of stage specific glitches, there are multiple glitch tutorials on youtube lol.

This is just sad, oh and this is after the game was patched 18 times…18 fuckin patches loooool and people thought Sonic Boom was buggy.
