they both have an end of chapter ranking system that rates your performance.
@Davidstar That’s why I said superficially they are similar, but when you actually sit down and play they are pretty different despite being in the same genre. NMH’s is far more of a hack n slash type game then Madworld which shares a lot more in common with brawlers. You spend most of your time attacking by punching, kicking and body slamming, using the chainsaw is an un-optimal way to play the game, it nets you the fewest amount of points of any type of attack method and if you fail to reach a chapters point requirement you lose and have to try again. The game places a MASSIVE emphasis on using the environment to your advantage, dumping a car tire over a guy, then stabbing him in the face with a road sign, then impaling him on a wall spike will net you far bigger gains then playing the game like you would NMH. MadWorld places a really big emphasis on player brutality and imagination while NMH’s is just about killing dudes with your lightsaber.
Even the stories are kind of differen’t, yea both protagonists are making their way up the ranks, but only Travis cares between the two of them, Jack really doesn’t give a shit about being #1, he’s already been #1 at least once, he’s there as a government agent to help root out corruption and ultimately end The Games.
They do become a lot more similar once you reach the bosses tho, you can’t do to bosses what you can do to mooks. Both games are a bit of mixed bag in this department to imo.
Also Music in MadWorld>>>>>>NMHs. Such a good OST to cut off a guys arms, break his neck, and throw him in front of a speeding train.
What’s weird to me is Sony just putting it out there before E3 has even started , saying “We don’t have much first party titles”.
Like…Why would they do that? I am beginning to suspect them having a ace up their sleeve. If it’s last guardian or not , idk.
