Speaking of Arkham Knight, can we talk about how brilliant that ending was?

[details=Spoiler]I mean holy shit, it was genius. At first I wasn’t really sure what was going on. Playing as Joker in that last segment was fucking awesome. They actually turned the war in Bruce’s mind between him and Joker into a playable segment and it was perfect. Batman actually managed to make me pretty scared when he was fighting to regain control of his mind against the Joker and I loved it. It’s like you actually got to experience just how terrifying of a presence the Dark Knight can actually be. Then you finally regain control and shut Joker out forever. That was the first time I’ve actually seen Joker terrified, and it was strange and unnerving.

Oh yeah, and I knew all along Arkham Knight was Jason. I only had my suspicions at first but as soon as I saw the torture segments with Robin I knew it was him. Who the hell else would it be though, I guess. I also jumped out of my chair like “Ah ha!!!” when I saw Barbra was still alive. Pretty much the only moment of the story you’ll feel happy about something lol.

But Poison Ivy doe…damn. Of course the best Redhead in the DC universe had to bite the dust… :’( [/details]

Raiden IV Overkill is coming to steam, nice. Now I think there is a pretty good opportunity that Raiden V will follow whenever it comes out. Good to see more shmup devs hopping on the ship (even though Raiden has had a few PC releases before). Hope that Natsuki Chronicles also comes to PC…really need more info on dat Qute goodness.

Nintendo had shot so many people in the foot with the N64, that people completely disregarded how great the Gamecube was…

It ran better looking/better sounding games than PS2, and despite the fact Xbox was more powerful, it was a shoddily-built POS that regularly caught fire or quit working entirely.

Also, LOL @ Arkham Knight…

Spoiler

I KNEW they were gonna shoe-horn Joker back into the story somehow… While it was an interesting take, I still can’t stop laughing at Rocksteady’s hard-on for the Joker.

Wasn’t really shoe horned at all. It was a plot device that was alluded to since Akrham City and its perfectly explained in the games henceforth.

i take it arkham asylum is still the best game in the series?

I have Arkham Knight, but I haven’t played more than 10 minutes because Heavensward.

All ponies are worst pony you jackass

Speaking of which, gonna hit dat 50 today nigga!

Fucking finally.

Where there is batman, joker is there

If one, or more, of the options isn’t fun and not using it isn’t an “option” (the game forces you to use it at some point).

That would be a negative to me.

Not specifically talking about AK and the batmobile just in general. You could have a million options in a game but a couple suck and you are forced to use the sucky ones multiple times then you should have fewer options in your game.

I agree to an extent.

It doesn’t hurt, but if the other options suck compared to the default or one or two options, it can make the experience feel limited.

]I thought it was cleaver of Batman to let the Joker personality take over when Crane was pumping him with fear toxin as a means to free himself of the Joker. Great display of Batman’s mental strength.

While it was obvious as hell that Jason was Arkham Knight his turn to villainy here is much better handled here than the comic and Under the Red Hood movie.[/spoiler

[Spoiler=]I’m just glad that he didn’t highjack the plot like he did in City and Origins. Scarecrow stays the main villain the whole way through.[/details]

I just don’t understand why the later games are receiving criticism from Will, when they all employ the gameplay aspects he claimed to like about the first game. All the games have massive labrythine maps to explore which only increase in size and detail with every installment, all the games have a steady mix of stealth AND combat scenarios that can be handled in a myriad of ways, all of them have increasing variety between the enemies you encounter, all of them have a Metroid-style approach on how you acquire numerous upgrades that help you advance through the plot…so it just doesn’t make much sense to me to keep coming back complaining about how much you think you would dislike the game when you haven’t actually tried them yourself. It also doesn’t make sense to me to criticize a game for the aspects that simply evolve and expand the gameplay experience.

I love having more options in games. If a game provides me with a multitude of ways to go about playing it, then hell yeah, that’s only a plus because more often than not you’ll find a way to play that’s most fun for you. None of the Arkham games are an exception to this rule.

Now, if a game is giving me tons of options but only limits me to playing a certain way or doing things I don’t find entertaining, then yeah, that’s a bad case of variety. But even in that scenario, the problem lies more in being forced to play a certain way and not in “having too many options”. Inherently, having more options is never really a bad thing.

If NX is a home console and released next year I’d be fucking pissed since it would be throwing Nintendo fans under the bus, especially those who waited until Smash 4 released like me. My Wii U still feels new to me, and while it has some gems it definitely has a long way to go to have a respectable sized library, if NX came out next year it would be a fuck you to everyone who thought Wii U would get long term support because I highly doubt Nintendo would support 3DS, Wii U, and NX simultaneously…remember that DS third pillar bullshit?

Speaking of Ninty soo Pokemon shuffle coming to mobile soon lol Po having a seizure. GET DAT MOBILE GUAP NINTY GO F2P ON ALL YOUR FIRST PARTY GAMES!

I only voice concern since, as mentioned above, I want to like Arkham Knight, since I liked Arkham Asylum so much (still have City sitting in my Steam library that I need to play, don’t intend to get Origins due to them never fixing problems with the PC version). But from what I’ve seen, it worries me.

It doesn’t look BAD at all, and none of what I’m saying is to claim that it’s a bad game. It’s just personal concerns that may affect my enjoyment of it if I do get it…and I don’t like spending money unless I’m 100% sure that I’ll get my full money’s worth in what I’m getting. (The Batman games I got for only $5 each so it wasn’t much of a “risk.”)

The concerns are lessened the more I hear from you, but the main issue I’m having is still the stupid Batmobile. I get the idea behind it, but I don’t want to be driving around in a tank just blowing up everything without concern, or waging tank battles against enemies. If it was an OPTION rather than something you’re forced to use a lot, I wouldn’t even bring it up; I’d just ignore it and find a less direct approach to the situation, like I enjoy doing.

I just don’t want something like that killing my enjoyment of the game.

Here’s a question for you then; about what percentage of the game would you say the Batmobile is required? Not including side missions.

Just to play Devil Advocate, the open world nature of City did make things unfocused by adding side missions, the level design wasn’t as tight as Asylum since they had an entire district to work with instead of a singular location. I personally prefer City as I like open world games , the combat is much improved over Asylum and I enjoyed City’s plot more.

I find it funny that someone would complain about more options in a Batman game. Batman is all about having options he possibly doesn’t need but has them anyway.

It’s not really that I don’t like more options, I love having more options (I am a LoZ fan after all, where tons of different weapons and tools abound). It’s more that the Batmobile doesn’t look very fun and it seems a bit…too OP, if you get what I mean.

I get that’s more the point of it in this game, but I’d rather the tool be made to feel OP or make me feel invincible because of my skill using it, not because the game just makes it that way.

I understand your concern about the batmobile completely. I didn’t like how the game forces you to use the car and It will force you to use it. A major part of the Riddler’s sidemission is making you race on his deathtracks. Some situations and puzzles can only be solved by using the Batmobile remotely, you need it to disarm mines, all but one boss battle use the batmobile, etc. The dependence on it is rather annoying. I would have preferred if it was just a mode of transport to eliminate quick travel from the game.

If I had to round the amount of time you’ll spend being FORCED to use the vehicle? I’d probably say a good 25 to 35 percent of the game. But you have to keep in mind: you’re not just blowing up tanks in the Batmobile. You’re also speeding through Gotham, disarming bombs, climbing up and down the sides of buildings, and believe it or not there’s actually stealth sections with the Batmobile as well lol. A lot of the Riddler challenges use it too. It does a shit ton of things besides just blowing up tanks.

Probably an even lower percentage than that though because I did use it pretty often just getting around Gotham, but you can do all of that on foot too just like in the old games if you absolutely MUST avoid using it.

Sounds awful. Glad I am waiting till its 5 dollars.
