the new nfs looks promising, just missing that criterion games “magic” that most wanted had even though it became tedious as fuck. thanks ea. i hope this installment tanks big time.
I doubt there will be a Dragon’s Crown 2, but I just want Vanillaware to announce ANYTHING. Though I’d expect that if they had anything to announce it would be at TGS…
Compared to the other NES era Capcom games, Rescue rangers is actually pretty easy.
I’m actually getting pretty hype for this E3. My supervisor just told me I have a floating holiday I need to get rid of soon so I may actually take off that Monday so I can watch the Sony and Microsoft presentations.
I don’t suck Doom’s dick like @Sonicabid does, nor do I hate the franchise so I’m pretty unbiased on it, but just because you don’t like Doom 3 for being different than the first two that doesn’t make it on rails, you don’t know the definition of on rails an example of that would be Dead Space Extraction or any House of the Dead. I grew up on Doom 1 and 2, and bought 3 the day it launched on xbox I liked all 3, but if today I had to choose to play any of them I’d pick 3 because it has free look (I know there are mods for the others), the enemy design is clearly better unless you prefer the cartoony look, the weapons feel and sound more impactful sound design for weapons matters a lot to me, the Doctor was a great villain his voice actor was on point a lot of games have the cliche obsessive researcher type, but D3 pulled it off better than most and the audio logs were genius I think it was the first game to tell it’s story that way and Dead Space evolved that mechanic. And most importantly unlike the first two, 3 does a fantastic job capturing the feel of a horror/sci fi game, it’s atmopshere is truly creepy and adds so much immersion while also feeling like it’s actually in the future. In Doom 1 and 2 you’re just shooting flat lifeless sprites all day, yes there’s tension from the amount of enemies on screen at times especially in a tight corridor, but it never once feels ominous or threatening it feels very arcadey, yet in 3 due to both the darkness of the game (which was a complaint for some in 2004) and the occult atmopshere especially the red glyphs on the walls a single enemy had more weight and presence to it.
D3 is far from perfect, the enemy count was a bit too low, and it’s level design was very restricted compared to the huge, complex, multiple paths of D1 and 2, but still I’d choose it over the other two because it’s just more fun to kill stuff with badass weapons in a sci fi haunted house than a lifeless open world. I hope Doom 4 combines the horror/sci fi atmopshere and game play of Doom 3 with the open world level design and intensity of Doom 2, that would be awesome.
lol shit, I was thinking of just running by the LA convention center and keeping a copy of the daily brochures and working but I’ll take a day off for this. Two E3’s under my belt so far…
Man I’m pretty bummed that DQ Heroes isn’t coming stateside on ps3. I know I can import but idk how specific mission instructions will be. It seems jank since usually Koei will atleast port the game digitally for last gen and physical for current
