On the contrary, it’s traditional JRPGs that barely qualify, because they rarely contain any actual role-playing.
Not to say they are necessarily bad games, but calling them RPGs in the first place was a huge misnomer.
What? Tyorne is ABSOLUTELY a dumb poster =P. My point was simply that Vynce has this assumption that all RPGs are asian influenced and turn based which is simply not true although many possibly the majority of them are. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is just the first example that popped into my mind of a game that’s just as RPG-esque as any other game, yet will still be entertaining to a self described dudebro like Vynce because it plays nothing like a JRPG, it’s one of those rare games that embodies the best of both worlds. Just because I don’t like JRPGs anymore that doesn’t mean I don’t still loVe the genre itself as much as anyone else, I’m sure if Vynce gave some of the ARPGs we enjoy a try he’d love them too.
Anyways so I realized I haven’t done any recap on E3 so let’s start with OZ’s top 10 games of the show (only including games with actual in game footage)

- Death’s Gambit
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
- Firewatch
- Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- SOMA
- Doom 4
This was a super tough list to make, several other games I’m mega hype for like Transformers: Devastation or Super Mario Maker just to name a few didn’t make the list which speaks to how GDLK this E3 was to me.
I know games like FF and ME are both RPGs and are worlds apart.
I already said I’d try an ARPG at some point sheesh

Agreed, there many western RPGs out there, Balders gate, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Fall Out, Mass Effect, Kotor, Rouge and Ultima.
There also many JRPGS that don’t follow the typical JRPG formula, Harnest Moon, Star Ocean, PokeMon, Valkyria Chronicles, Odin Sphere.
Hell Gauntlet is tentically consider an RPG.
Gauntlet is a quintessential RPG, choose class, raid loot.
Makes me want to fire up the Dreamcast and get my Gauntlet Legends on.
I was thinking more of the Original Gauntlet, but Gauntlet Legends is awesome as well.
Any of them counts really, just Legend is always the first to pop into my mind when i think if Gauntlet.
Deus ex is the greatest game ever created.

But honestly Deus Ex is far from the greatest game ever.
The Greatest game ever is Pac-Man the 1980 Arcade version.
But I digress, arguing what is the greatest game ever is like arguing what is the best pizza topping ever.
There could be no winners to such a debate. You can only see how a game impacted the industry and even society.
But by those standards you ignore all the under rated gems.
Hell I hate to this day World of War Craft, but its an MMO that been going on strong for 10 years (kinda rare for a MMO to last more than 2 years), the first publicly accepted MMO out there or at least in the US.
If I was talking about South Korea, Ragnarok Online got the lead as far as MMOs are concern (which turned into shit with 3rd classes). But any ways World of Warcraft is being inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame as one of 6 games chosen. Do I like it no, would I made that choice no, do I understand their logic why it was chosen yes.
