Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

Notto disu shitto agen…

Sad thing is that there’s little that can be done, other than somehow finding & punishing those responsible (easier said than done) to serve an example for others.

And they must really hate the Sony Online Entertainment president; they tweeted him pics of his own father’s grave

Just found out that Lego Marvel Super Heroes is on Wii U. Almost bought a PS4 for it last night. Close call.

@Sonichuman‌ I’m assuming you’ve played this version? Anything to note? Gonna check out Metacritic and go from there.

2 Years old and now it’s brought up here lol: http://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/15nfvk/if_kotaku_and_ign_are_a_bad_source_for_gaming/

Beforethe whole Zoe Quinn and gamersgate issues were a thing, Polygon had had it’s fair share of bullshit which are listed in my gaming journalism thread, but even so they have some of the best presentation and best writers in the business and anyone who enjoys gaming articles should respect the quality of their work. That being said the Zoe Quinn/gamersgate issue was the final nail in the coffin and despite being a fan of Ben Kuchera, I’m not going to give Polygon anymore clicks at least for a while.

Does anyone subscribe to Game Informer? I stopped reading/subscribing to them in 2011, but from 2006-2011 I have all their issues and they had some very high quality and worthwhile game previews and industry related articles, during this time their was no gamer shaming like their is now, they just focued on the games and the people who made them and just pumped out very satisfying magazines that catered to people like me who love video games. Their reviews were absolute shit, often being very biased and outright making false claims about games, but the magazine was clearly divided by the previews and the reviews section, the former was as awesome as the latter was terrible.

Quality gaming sites:

Giantbomb-These are guys care about having fun playing games, talking about games, and making each other and their readers laugh more than anything else, but most importantly these guys are very blunt they don’t bullshit you and that’s why everyone respects them as the top site
Joystiq-Has gone downhill in recent years, but is still a quality site
Penny Arcade Report-Awesome site due in large part to Ben Kuchera unfortunate he and the site is gone
IGN-Is a lot like Game Informer AKA great for gaming previews and terrible for everything else especially reviews

STAY AWAY FROM:

Kotaku
Destructoid
Rock, Paper, Shotgun

I use a free service that goes by the name of “Sonichuman” for my gaming news. The news literally comes right to my computer without me even having to look for it. It gives me links and everything

I get my gaming news from here and Joystiq. GAF a little but not much.

Nigga your face probably looks right now like that goofy smiley thinking you’re better than us.

i get my gaming news from word of mouth

Link da video man. I want to see sexy Bayo Combos.

Edit: Ah i see you did link it. Good man. He guns look to have a lot of punch t them now. I like.

I get my gaming news from Youtube if you follow a fair amount of gaming channels youtube will feed you the new hotness I wait till a game has substantial footage say 20 mins or so of gameplay available I look at said footage and make my judgements on the game from there if I catch a lesser amount of footage earlier and it catches my attention I will follow till there’s more, and then make my decision but until theres gameplay footage out there all your getting is an announcement of an announcement and your feeding the hype beast. Anything beyond that is word of mouth/ shit I read on forums, 24 hour news is unnecessary and 24 hour gaming news is even more so.

I watched my wife play through Lego Marvel and its pretty much Lego Marvel. I would imagine the PS4 version looking slightly sharper and what not but you won’t have off-tv play. Wii U version doesn’t really do anything special with the pad other than that really. So it really matters what do you prefer? Slightly sharper graphics or the ability to play off the TV if need be?

2 cents on websites: Personally I don’t think it should matter where the news come from if it’s the same information…UNLESS said website has anything to do with douchebaggery that involves insulting it’s readers. Opinion pieces are opinion pieces so as a general rule I tend to ignore them or if I do I go ‘hmmm…’ and keep it moving. The fact that there are people out there that take the opinion as gospel as if it’s the end all be all or use the opinion piece to back up an argument is the problem…that can easily extend to reviews as well. Just about every website has at least one review or opinion piece that had dug under their skin (I.E. People still are clutching that scar over IGN’s Godhand review, It’s easily like clockwork almost…someone mentions that game and then within the same page or a few posts someone will bring that review up lol) but stuff like what Kotaku puts up at times and this whole insulting of their reader that Polygon seems to be doing in handling the Gamergate stuff is just not cool. Even if they were the first website to get the news from I won’t put up the link or just find a different website with the same info.

Long story short: News is news regardless of where you hear it from so long as it’s true. Don’t attack websites for their opinions on stuff but support scumbags at your own risk.

Yeah I forgot I watch ScrewAttack and Polaris from time to time lol.

Also for anybody still watching Destiny from the sidelines, go watch Angry Joe’s review of it. Like halfway through he gets pretty much every legitimate complaint with the game right on the head. I was singing it’s praises at first but the only thing I really look forward to now is completing a nightfall strike and maybe doing the raid. After that It’s pretty much just Crucible from that point. I’ve killed Phogoth probably about 40 times already. The first time I fought him it was a ridiculous battle. Now it’s just a tedious task no matter what level I do it at.

Hold on, I’ll check… I can see my reflection in the shiny Apple logo…

No Vita. The reviews were saying, the Game Pad is used for weapon switching and Off TV play . Thanks for the heads up.

Also found that it was released when I got the U last year, haha!

This is just pure curiosity, but does anyone know why you can’t straight up rematch someone 1 on 1 in all the Street Fighter 4s outside of vanilla? Vanilla had Player Match, where you could pick someone in a lobby to play outside the ranked matches and rematch that person until one of you quit. The closest to that in subsequent SF4s was Endless Match, which was basically King of the Hill with no frills. Why did they get rid of that mode? That may seem like a small feature, but MK9 has it, and that’s a big reason I play MK9 over SF4 these days. If I like fighting this person, I can keep on doing it until one of us has had enough. No rummaging the lobbies again for another person, or the same person if I want to fight them again.
And for the record, I know UMVC3 has this, but fuck UMVC3.

B)

Just invite them to a private room

the flow of player match prevents giving games a populated feel, it has a lot more vacant days with player match/rematch as an option
