Speaking of a session who’s hosting?

And for those going to SCR on saturday morning how are we doing it? O.o

MVC3 @ SCR WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i asked alex if itll be there on sunday, so if i find out it is you need to go so we can do that irl labwork and hog a station to ourselves.

thx euro for the short but sweet casuals yesterday night. The candy was awesome too.

/boner, mvc3 will only be there saturday FML

hey guys, haven’t been to a session in a while. I haven’t really felt like playing ssf4 lately though. Last time I played was probably before my birthday. I’ve been poking at Tekken 6 though, and I realized that i hate owning games where i’m not necessarily good at them. Who wants to start leveling up at Tekken 6? because ssf4 has become REALLY STALE for me. I still have no urge to play it, even though my live gold expired lol. well whatever, let me know your thoughts. I won’t bother if it’s just casual though and we just happen to have it at a session

actually, i don’t care if we start playing competitive shmups… i just want something fresh for a change

If someone teaches me to play this game and not just kick my ass I’m down. But I would like to use the mexican wrestler guy known as “king” I believe. Actually I think I saw 2 kings so I would need another explanation on which one is better.

Tekken 6 is a really fun game and I would love to have a station for that every session. As far as SSF4 feeling stale, I still play it and have just as much interest in the game as before, but I feel playing in person is just not happening that much for us anymore. It sucks that everytime a session happens, it feels like I’m playing with strangers because it had been a while since the previous one. The time between sessions is growing more and more each time. When Juan moved it hit us hard because he usually hosted when Felix couldn’t. I think as a team we are stronger now than we ever have been, but our playing in person scene is slowly dwindling from what we had back in Vanilla SF4 days. I miss it. =/

“teaching” someone to play tekken would be super super hard as everyone up here is pretty bad at it.
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT
i can help for the most part to get everyone to at least where im at, which is just doing sick combos.
whats really hard in tekken is the movement but if everyones willing to get better im sure we can all get good together like we did with ssf4 :karate:

edit: i just read my post, and before anyone gets upset i mean EVERYONE up here being terrible myself included. i know jaron has shown interest, and like i said if youre willing to learn some bnb’s then we can go from there. id love to get some t6 poppin in the hd

hell yeah! I’m down for some tekken 6!!! Got a couple of ppl who play tekken too.

make sure you invite them next time, ese.
the more the merryer.

I invited people for felix’s last time. . . But none showed up. :frowning:

If only I could randomly spark interest in Melty Blood.

learning the basics of tekken isn’t hard. Tekken’s practice mode is leaps above ssf4’s practice mode. You can look at the 100+ move list with different throws and combos (as well as juggles?) and you can view the button presses and timing with the little melody notes to the rhythm of the combo. This is great for people like juan that don’t really study combos. Juan, if you’re going to learn King, he is a throw combo master. He’s got really good damage too but your focus is to mindfuck the opponents into your arms and finish the throw combos to do heavy damage.

I know the basics of probably half the cast. I need to start learning frame data and spacing… b,b, db, b, b just doesn’t feel natural to me and i don’t find the use in it.

b,b, db, b, b is my hardest issue with this game.
i can do it on pad easily but on stick its a bit harder, but its the essence of movement which is pretty much what this tekken focuses on. learning combos is the easy part, frame data and punishers isnt that difficult, but movement and throw breaks will be the most difficult for people on average.

the training mode is good for learning the moves, but since there are sooooo many moves for each character its difficult to learn how to use each one of those moves. For example:
Asuka’s b+1 is a low sweep move, if you look at it in tarining you won’t see much to it since it doesn’t knockdown on hit.
but, it will beat most high puch mashers, and does a grab on counter that leaves opponent “face up - feet away” position that leads into a big chain damage combo if your opponent tried to get up sweep you.
in teken in general there are a lot more situational wake up options.

I wonder if I could learn T6 just like I learned Soul Calibur. It took me a while to get fairly good at SCIV though. Im assuming it’ll take just as long if not longer to get decent at this game.
Then again IDk if I’d want to get serious about T6 with the fighting games coming out next year. Specifically Marvel 3

most tekken games have retained continuity between sequels. So if you learn tekken 6 you will easily pick up the next tekken game. I’m excited about the new Tekken Tag 2. It was my favorite tekken on the ps2.

Oh im sure. Tekken has been going strong for like ever. Its basically the 3D street fighter I’ve just never gotten into it no offense to the game it’s clearly technical as hell.

EDIT: Double post

ill take you on in TEKKEN :D!!
