I think if Virtua Fighter fans played half as much as they complained the Vf community would be bigger/better. Seriously:nono:
Typical '10 member.
You don’t understand what the hell is going on do you? Yeah a company completely alienating its fanbase in America and outright refusing to give us the lastest revision (which is almost a sequel in terms of content and expansion, tweaks) while not even porting it.
Yeah, that’s real small stuff to sweep under the carpet. GTFO with this shit.
I agree that this isnt small stuff to sweep under the carpet and I am mad at Sega for alienating the American fanbase. However shit like this thread is destroying the VF fanbase. Its almost like saying imo, these dicks at Sega wont give us VF: 5R therefore you should stop playing this series as whole. I will support the Virtua Fighter series through thick and thin and I still play Vanilla VF:5, even if Sega does not treat their fans well and probably focused on making 3D Sonic with crappy mechanics and horrible voice acting and music part 100.
Get over it. This series is the only 3D series I’ll touch, and is the only hope for a good game as far as 3D goes. Just go play Tekken: Infinite Juggle Combo 6.
Also this elitism shit bothers me alot, does it matter when the fuck I joined? I’m entitled to an opinion just like you are.
vf is boring, to watch…
@ Tekken ignorance. Not liking Tekken is fine but making absurd comments like that makes no sense.
Why continue to play VF5? In Colorado, we had a fair amount of CO players. 20-30 or so. We all loved it. For many of us, VF5 was the first “real” VF game we played. This in turn caused us to play EVO, 3tb, etc. just to see how the series evolved. It was fun and enjoyable. With the announcement of R, we were all excited. Here we go, a new version of 5 will be coming to consoles. As time goes on, we realize that it isn’t happening and that kills the scene. Kills the desire to play more. Knowing that there is an improved version of my favorite fighting game is out there and that I will never be able to play it killed all my motivation. If a FT or VF5r2 or anything along the lines gets announced with a confirmed console port, then yeah. I will put back in my copy of VF and play it again, improve on the basics and count the days down.
But it isn’t going to happen. Why waste my time playing a game that will ultimately go nowhere. It is awful.
Say what you want about Tekken, SF, or BB. You will get another version of that game and it will be out on consoles to enjoy. We don’t have that luxury. Until that time comes for VF, I have no reason to play it at all.
Glad you actually explain why instead of just straight calling someone a fucking idiot. I think I might agree with this… but VF4/5 is all ive got. Tekken has always been boring imo, I said that out of anger because Tekken is a technical game just not very enjoyable to me. I enjoy VF:5 but i’ll never practice at it as hard as I used to, I only play matches for fun. My COMPETITIVE drive is gone, so I can definitely sympathize with how you feel about the Virtua Fighter.
Alright TechRomanzer you bring up a very valid point… happy now?
Your original statement was more unexplained as you thought Tech Romancer’s was. You don’t even know what’s going on, but you made a blanket statement that could applied to anything anyone is doing or playing.
Myself included, some people need/needed to actually fully learn how to play VF though in the first place, so it doesn’t matter if you’re playing vanilla 5 or R, you need to learn how to actually play VF first. However, not having R, removes plenty of drive and willingness to keep going. So I stopped, and pretty much let fighters as a whole, go.
Please point out where in my post I said that. Take your time.
The thing about your comment is you imply that somehow us being loyal fans and complaining about our own company turning away from us (recall the facebook incident? Funny!) has something to do with VF failing or the community growing smaller. If you actually spend time at VFDC you’d see its one of the most level-head and friendliest fighting game sites on the net. Not to mention comprehensive database/wiki updated by Myke and plenty of other VFers. People always answer questions or least try their best. Its like a big family over there; only reason I don’t comment as much is because I’m too busy looking through the old VF4 Ice-9 archives most of the time.
This thread is pointless, but we’re not destroying the VF scene. No, we’re definitely not the ones hurting the VF community.
Sega themselves are ruining it and their own franchise, along with any chance of VF ever getting mainstream attention over here stateside. The cabinent leasing, the lack of a port, the timing, the netcode requirement and how Myke and the VFDC community appealed to them via facebook and other times and how Sega totally refused us. Even now, there is a thread where VFer’s write their love for the series in another attempt to beg Sega to let us play the damn game. And yet…somehow we’re the bad people…huh.
They handled every single aspect of the release in the worst way possible, and they don’t deserve to be rewarded with any kind of support. We asked on their facebook to release the game, they erased our comments and called us disruptive. WTF? They made the arcade system lease-only and furthurmore unable to function without being hooked into thier net service. So we can’t even import the damn machines. I personally, am okay with playing older versions of VF, but I perfectly understand why people are angry for being shunned by their own company and for no reason whatsoever.
Well you did attempt to discredit me with “typical 10 member” but that is irrelevant getting back on topic, I have swung by VFDC quite a few times, where I learned most/all of the strats I know so the community leftover is dedicated, but had I known this you wouldve never seen the first bs response I posted. Damn you Sega… I see why the hatred is strong with you.
Didn’t people play 3s for like, 10 years before 4 came out?
Why would that scene not die as easily as the VF scene has?
What about if Japan had 4, and everyone else only had 3s.
Or a better analogy would be, what if Japan had 3s and everyone else had New Generation.
I think online tourney’s are the way to go for people who are interested in still playing this game outside of Japan. It’ll be interesting if this game grew from that. Just started playing again, and the game is still fun and I have other things keeping me busy, but this game is a nice break from the real world.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Sega announced a FT of some sorts, and then released R for console to be quite honest:rofl:
yea it be awesome if they did that. I do not think they will completely abandon the console market.
They need to include features from VF4:EVO and a great online system. Then most people here who overhype the game which is good.
5 more days to leave a message, kamaage meets with Sega on the 28th: http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/272975/Re_Kamaage_VF5R_for_console_ef#Post272975
Is sega at least planning to port VF5R to JP consoles?
At this point of time, no.
Even Japanese players want this game on console according to kamaage. You would think Sega would listen to them being they are their “target audience”.
“Target Audience”? “Money Making”? “Good Business decisions”? “Making the most of a franchise”?
Ha! Sega does not possess such logic.
Sega bashing never gets old.
But seriously, my first experience with VF was VF4 Evo, and I fell in love with the game. I ended up getting VF5 when it came out for the 360, but now that I don’t have a 360 anymore, and Sega has no plans to release VF5R to the consoles, I have no way to play VF. That makes me sad. I wanted to continue getting better with Brad!
What I did to show my love for VF5 is I went in to my local game crazy showed off the game by playing it and suprisingly every copy in the store sold. Now it’s alot easier because I can tell people that they can download it off x-box live. I suggest all fans do the same. Yeah it sucks not having the new version, but I think we should find some joy in introducing the franchise to people who have never played before, or reintroducing people to fighting games.
