Vewlix 'Slim': Project Plans on Page 1 (More CP info added - page 1)

Cool keep the updates!

I have a question about the controls section of the control panel; I saw in another forum where you had the control section of the cp laid out on it’s own. What are the measurements for the controls section alone? Reason I ask is because one of my friends gave me a suggestion about how to make the controls section swappable… but he needs measurements. I’m assuming the section is 12-15mm, but I may be off there…

I’m getting behind with finishing the plans as I’ve not had much time recently. Apologies for that. I’ve updated the CP section in the first page with some additional dimensions and pictures.

The CP panel (the section with the buttons and stick) is 140mm x 594mm (1mm less width than the main CP panel). The CP is made up of 4 pieces, the main 12mm MDF layer at the bottom, A piece of 3mm board on top of this with a cutout for the stick and holes drilled for the buttons, the artwork and 3mm acrylic on top. The 12mm board is routed to a depth of around 2mm around the 3 outer edges where it rests on the supports to lower the CP slightly relative to the sides.

Impressive stuff! Looks fantastic…I’m so tempted to attempt something similar now

I have a question: Would it be difficult to accomodate 2 arcade sticks with your cabinet’s dimensions? I’ve been looking into building a Vewlix ā€œcloneā€ and I really like how yours is.

Thanks. Why not give it a go?!

The size would be a bit limited but you could build a wider control panel. People report that even the full size, which is 15cm or so wider, can be a bit tight. I don’t think a wider CP would look out of place at all and will build one myself at some point.

I’ve only played on a vewlix once, and believe me, it is slightly cramped with 2 decent sized people at the controls.

Fuck awesome. Looks great.

hope you had a good holiday mr. leroi and have a safe newyear! i hope to begin work on my slim vewlix cab soon inspired by you good sir! your blueprints and all the compiled info has been all too helpfull!! i know i will have some questions once i get going so i might hit you up if thats cool…

My god that is just sick looking, man i would love that in my apartment!

Thanks for the feedback! My wife has now let me completely redesign my gamws room so I’ll be shfting some of the furniture out which gives me more wall space which will allow me to build another 1 … or 2 maybe?

I had a fantastic holiday Greg and I hope you did likewise. Do let me know if you have any specific questions or issues and I’d be more than happy to help.

Thanks Vince! As I mentioned above, I will probably build another and maybe a Vewlix styled racing simulator to replace my existing R-Pod.

are you keeping all the updates and new cabs to yourself ? - share the love sir !

Awesome work man !

Thanks! I did make some updates and got the side art applied, artwork holder on the top and TE Logo sorted. Pics:

Just when i was looking for a new project, i stumble across this!

I think i’ll start this in the spring.

Thanks a lot.

Man that’s one sexy ass cab. Wish I had the money to invest in such a work of art

Thanks guys. It did finally get some artwork added after I got a new printer:

have you thought about doing another one for a head to head setup?

Yes … but I need to update my racing cockpit and MAME cab then build a virtual pinball machine and Showcase cabinet first!

Wish i had your wood working skills mate… i’d build two of em now
