vegas indeed sucks

no u.

… Wait. Fuck.

Touche, Rojo.

qft.

Is there anyway we can help promote fighting scene in Vegas? Craigslist, etc? I’ll be down to post flyers at UNLV but if it’s gonna be all new players then i don’t know if they’ll stick around after facing difficult opponents.

Sad thing the arcades here are balls. plus it looks like the sf4 hype died down. it seems most of you playing BB or something. i still think sf4 is the main game, look at evo for example.

you can probably try that… little people will show then die out again, it sucks but what can you do… sf4 is boring and i’m playing mvc2 all the time now its soo fun even though i suck

im going with sonny to gametag on Wednesday and try to talk some people into coming to gameover or motivate people to challenge gameover peeps… the best thing to do is make a date in like 2 months and post everywhere and try to make it a really big Vegas tourney and hopefully when that tourney hits people will stay…

I like the gametag versus GO idea. The scene will rise from the dead when this drops on playstation network next tuesday.

I already know the Kimmy Gibbler infinite, I’m caliente like Cuajitos en salsa.

Didn’t you just say, that you didn’t go to gameover ever, and you don’t want to waste time there?

Now you want to promote?

I tried craigslist, it’s just a bunch of nerds who want to play online. But doesn’t hurt if you try.

UNLV will/can work. You need to post flyers for tournaments. However these tournaments must be either on campus or like 5 min walking distance from campus.

The SF4 hype died down because everyone losing to ruin. And those were the people that liked the game. Now there is little hope any game will get a main focus in Vegas because…

 1. People don’t want to lose to ruin in sf4/blazblue
 2. Vegas players don’t play games/characters that require buffered suppers

Now fact #2 is something I just realized the other day. I thought about all the games most people say they main/like, and the characters they play. Dawned on me that no one plays characters where cr. mk xx super is a must(maybe like a couple of people). MAYBE THATS WHY NO ONE LIKES 3S HERE?

Like Josh, he plays A groove, no need to buffer. Gen/Balrog SF4, no need to do cancels. ORO TENGU STONE. Wing Zero in GWED, just jump and run.

Blazblue has some hope, but its about to be updated end of this month, OR SO THE WORD IS.

I haven’t played SF4 in like, a month.

This is Mno btw, still in Hawaii. Wong left early for some shit in NY, so it’s just floe and marn with me here.

I still want to play. W3s is nothing but truth, by the way.

Vegas needs balls.

^to clear up any retard confusion, that was me.

DUBBLE SHURR

Does cr.mk > Ultra for Blanka count? It’s a one frame link that’s hard as shit to do

But man, I agree with you mostly Wes… I don’t know why people would quit playing a game because they lose though… if you’re a true fighting game enthusiast shouldn’t that drive you to become better and win? I still think there’s hope for SF4, and even 3s in Vegas if people would just play a tiny bit more seriously. There is honestly like 5 guys who play anything seriously, and the rest just seem to play for fun, which is fine, believe me, but it’s just really hard to have a scene going when people don’t play to win, but play for fun all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, playing for fun is the reason we play games right? But still, anyone who truly wants to become better should always want the best competition around to play, not pussy out because one or two players is dominating the small scene around you.

Justin Wong said that before Evo, when he was in Japan, there was this Blanka player that literally followed Daigo around and beasted on him constantly, playing a very annoying type of Blanka. Whenever Daigo moved from one cabinet, the Blanka player followed him to get his turn and beat him again.

What I’m trying to get at in that story, is, who is going to be that guy to ruiN? Who’s going to be the guy to figure out his game, and beat him consistently. I mean, if that’s our scenes ONLY problem, it shouldnt be a problem at all.

But that’s not our only problem. What Wes basically said (if I’m understanding correctly) is that no one likes to buffer… but why? Is it because we don’t like a challenge here? Is it because our scene seems to like to take the easy way out? Hell, I play mostly charge characters because I feel like my execution is better that way, although I have no problems FADCing into ultras and whatnot, I just feel more confident playing charge characters. There’s a good example of what I think Wes was getting at. It might be true that we want to take the easy way out if we let one player “ruiN” our scene (see what I did there?)

But I mean, I could be way off to be honest. It could be something else entirely. Who knows? Im all for “reviving” the community before it truly dies though, that’s for sure. And not just SF4, but 3s, HDR, or whatever else there is that players might still have interest in besides Blaz. Also, keep BlazBlue going strong, but don’t let it take over every other game out there.

Just my 2cents I guess.

you took it the wrong way. i said it would be pointless to go that day if only thing u guys play is BB which i never played once.

thats silly ppl quit because of losing. if anything should be more motivation to get better.

couldnt quote single thing on ps3 browser

i think sf4 died out because some people couldn’t beat ruin or top 3 and then the other people left because the first people left… domino effect here…(if i make sense.)

i just don’t understand whats so bad about losing… every time i was on my way to GO i always had in mind that ruin was not as good as people thought, that i would be the one to beat. him… (to hype my self up) but when i saw him play he was very solid, very good… it was crazy but it made me excited to play against him… even when i lost it would be great … people should have that kind of mentality

…48 people @ GO in the start of sf4 tourneys and only 6 people now… they must be hiding somewhere getting better…

i just hope when i go to gametag there’s actually good people not people who just played the game because it looks cool or something…

PS. HDR is so much fun … KEN MASTERS FTW!

It’s funny, today bryan asked me if sf4 tourneys were done in vegas. And I told him yes, either you don’t like the game (so why would u enter) or you just suck at it (usually the case) the problem is SF4 was probably the biggest scene vegas has had and prob ever will have. I knew it wouldn’t last long. Surprised it lasted as long as it did. 40 man tourneys??!?!? are you serious? Before when mvc2 was big in vegas we got like 14 and we were excited.

No game will pick up the same steam, no one wants to enter tourneys, no good new games. And more importantly no talent. I know bernie always says vegas does have talent and I respect his opinion on that. But I’ll say it my only idea of talent here is.

Josh
wes
me

Everyone else just plays 1 game and is either mediocre at that game or just shitty. I don’t know if it’s so much lack of talent or lack of willingness to learn. Everyone that plays games here plays them without thinking about what they’re doing. They think just playing over and over in casuals will some how advance them.

Some sf4 guys that have shown promise, are carnehas and his crew. Regardless of what people think of them, and frisco. Bernie/felix/kalama are all good at ST but that isn’t alive here.

I know my opinion may be insignificant or invisible, and my skill level is worse than scrub, but I’m going to say it anyway.

When I first got to Vegas I had no idea that good arcades were nonexistant, thus wasted about 3 days on the strip/traveling around Henderson/The Strip for places to play. When I got on SRK and met up with Mr.Sagat the first time and got a taste of the crushing defeat I had faced many times before I was surprised and, due to my easily-impressionable nature, thoroughly impressed. Then I went to GO_, and it warped my scrubby brain.
Whenever I set foot into that place and see people like Ruin, Josh and Wes play I am always filled with unspoken questions on how to play a game correctly and with a good degree of skill. The questions double when I sit down next one of them for a match, and I’m going to make one thing clear: I AM NEVER DISHEARTENED/DISAPPOINTED WHEN I LOSE TO RUIN, JOSH, WES, OR ANYONE ELSE. I take it as a learning experience and then get into asking myself what I can do to better my game in the game I am currently playing.
That being said, I feel I should not be counted as one of the people who left the SF4 hype because I sucked at the game and losing to ruin made me wanna go home and cry in a corner asking myself how to get better without actually doing anything to improve. I will admit I suck terribly at SF4, but it’s not the reason I stopped going. Before I moved to Vegas I was playing BlazBlue at Family Fun Arcade in Cali, and when I got here I was basically waiting for a release to play it some more. In between I played some SF4 and the degree of hype from what little I did play in the Cali arcades was still there, but the more I played it the more I found myself disliking it. A while back I explained that I wasn’t really feeling the same amount of hype for SF4 like I originally had to Wes over aim, and that when I was playing BB that I was having a much better time playing it than I ever had playing SF4. He told me to wait for BB, 'cause that’s what he was waiting for too and he shared my sentiments to an extent.
Honestly, I just don’t like SF4, but I never wanted it to crash and burn like it did. I liked going to GO_ and playing and watching SF4 when there was a lot of people, and when I lost contact due to my own actions with the few people nice enough to give me a ride down to GO_ I honestly hoped I wasn’t falling into a trend of people bailing on the SF hype. I liked where it was going, I just didn’t like the game.
Now when I wanted to go back to GO_ for BB, I find that people aren’t as drawn to it as SF4.

Completely true.
SF4 was HUGE, and I thought that at least a decent portion of the community that played it was going to try and branch out to other games that were coming out. I guess I was wrong. I mean, I knew KoF wouldn’t pick up steam (Beside Paine’s crew, but they weren’t there last saturday.) but I thought BB had a decent amount of hype behind it. I heard a lot of people saying they were going to try it, but the first Sunday BB tournament proved me wrong. The second one solidified it that proof.
I’ll tell you all now that I genuinely WANT TO LEARN. I WANT to be at least halfway decent at the games I play, which include BB, KoF and 3S. I mean, I guess I’m just skittish to ask for any real help because I know it’s a burden to try and teach someone what to do in a competitive game, not to mention my lack of potential. I also feel as though I’m viewed as a “that other random scrub”-type to most, if not all, of the Vegas scene and I personally don’t feel right going up to someone like Ruin and asking something like “Hey man, I really feel like I want to get good at this game, is there anything you could show me to help up my game?”. I feel as though it’s an imposition to those who are really good at the games they play, thus I don’t do it.
Like I said before, I WANT TO LEARN. I WANT TO GET BETTER, even if that means practicing something over and over again 'til my fingers fucking bleed. I’m never one to just up and quit at something I like doing just because I suck at it, I always want to learn more.

I apologize for the wall of text and I appreciate if you read it all the way through.

I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to get better. And who gives a fuck if the same 3 keep winning? Do something about it. I have no issue taking an ass beating from any of these 3 as long as they are willing to help out my game, rather than win, shake hands, and peace out. Honestly I wouldn’t mind just sitting down and having training sessions with these guys if they’re down. Its just unfortunate my schedule has been shit lately and haven’t been able to make many ranbats.

But I’m definately willing to get better, no matter how many losses I have to take. I’ve dropped Blanka altogether and have been messing with Ryu, Rufus, and Boxer. I was playing all day yesterday…12 hours to be exact…but online is killing me. So you want to cry because rUIN keeps winning, fine. I won’t. So if you want games, or wanna help me with getting better, hit me up. I’ll come to you, pick you up, whatever is necessary.

PS- My signature. That is all.

We have a good 14 people in vegas who “probably” enjoy playing sf4 and that regularly go to tourneys. Obviously its pretty hard to get these people to show up all the time, but that never mattered cause we always had randoms drop in and make our numbers 20+ for every tourney. Sf4 isn’t dead in vegas, we just need to not hold weeklies and try to get hype once a month tournies or something.

We can let Sf4 die though, lol. Game is like the worse tourney game (made by capcom) that people regularly play.

I also think its funny when people complain about there being no more Sf4 tournies anymore when they’ve only been to Game Over like once or never.

P.S. I really want to hold an HDR tourney sometime soon, but I want to make sure there’ll be enough interest for one so its just not me and bernie or me and felix entering, lol. I heard its hard for a lot of you ST/HDR cats to make it out to Sat tournies at GO, maybe we can do this at someone’s house (Bernie?) when more peeps can make it

I’ll be heading to GO_ today @ 5PM. Daniel should make it out, because the 5 minutes I played you yesterday was not enough.

What do people think about SF4 on UNLV intramurals or a weekly thing? If Mario and Sonic Olympics is a intramural, why not SF4/BB? If not, I’m sure a few of us can get together on a scheduled basis and throw something down in the Rec room as long as we get the word out…

BTW, I called a Gametag on Ft. Apache & Centennial? I think were the cross streets. They do weekly tourneys on Weds @ 3PM I think this is store/corporate policy. But the game is random (i think cuz it wasn’t SF4 last week), and they don’t have a website listing what they are playing.

Despite my Av, I’m still on SF4 a whole lot… I just wish I can get the chance to make it to GO on saturdays. Shit blows that my job isn’t that flexible. Oh well, I just have to get another one.

But yes, Ruin and W3s been speaking truth like a motherfucker. Some people just don’t understand that you got to pay your fucking dues to win. I know I’m not at the Ruin/Josh/Peter/W3s level in gaming. But instead people will just decide to quit instead of ASKING QUESTIONS… Shit, I know the times when I could make tourneys, I’m always in someones ear and just trying to get feed back about match-ups. Since we do have the online capability to play these games now, I’m sure SOME peeps are just using that feature to its fullest to avoid going to IRL competition. But seriously, Online can get you only so far.

Simply put, as Mno said before. “Just get BETTER.”

Hell, Tuboware and I partnered up and started do some labbing together at least once a week. The Vegas scene as a whole just needs a little more dedication. And I’ll start mine first by trying to free up my schedule to actually make it for saturdays. Whats the reason to do all this practicing without actually applying it to a tourney anyway?

Ruin, I’m gettin’ yo money nigga… Eventually

And, I’ll make to GO today as well…

lol, all those kids must have the same classes. scheduling around peeps classes during school time is a huge pain in your asshole/hard to make it doable.

tournies would have to start @ like after 5pm when “most” people would be done with their classes.

5pm would be earliest I could ever make anything during the week. The way traffic is, sometimes i could be there at 4:30, sometimes 5.
